  • Watch my travel product review of the airplane foot hammock. It is an interesting piece of travel gear that I find worth packing. It is lightweight, rolls up small and is affordable. If you have a long flight in your future, I suggest purchasing one.

    I took one of these on a 10 hour flight recently but didn’t use it as the food tray was in the way.. It never occurred to me that pushing the food tray table up would work... soo glad that I watched this and even happier that I didn’t throw the hammock away :) yayyy

    I've done a lot of long haul flights in my time as I'm in Aus. I've seen over the years how passenger comfort has changed and foot rests have been a big casualty in cattle class for a while, though not on all airlines. My feet swell if my legs dangle for too long (I'm only 5'1") and I have sciatic nerve issues so comfort is never easy when that is affected by seat height. Have finally purchased one of these and will be using next month when I travel to Boston. Hope it works better than the last long haul I took recently, overnight to Hong Kong where I used my bag to rest my feet!

    Very helpful, I'm trying to figure out if I buy a foot hammock or an inflatable footrest.
    Btw, you remind me of Brené Brown :)

      What a compliment! Thank you! I've been looking at trying out an inflatable footrest myself. The foot hammock is just so much easier to pack. If you decide to try out the inflatable footrest, let me know how it goes.

    This would help the long travel but not all airlines allow it. I could use it on Turkish Airlines but Asiana Airlines does not allow it at all anytime. I always wonder how high or low off the ground is best for sleeping?

    • @JaneSeesTheWorld
      @JaneSeesTheWorld  Před 4 měsíci

      That is a bummer about Asiana Airlines. Thankfully, most airlines are still accommodating.
      To answer your question, I think it depends. I usually like it about 4 to 6 inches above the ground. But if you have shorter legs, you may need it higher. It all depends on what is most comfortable for you and your leg length.

    In your opinion, do u think the hammock is way more comfortable than the footrests airlines have built in already for their economy seats ? Such as like turkish/singapore

    • @JaneSeesTheWorld
      @JaneSeesTheWorld  Před 2 lety +2

      Oh dear! I completely missed your question. I apologize for my delayed response. I like the hammock a little bit better because it is adjustable and you can subtly swing your feet if you want to. However, built-in footrests are also nice.

    • @theaussiewhinger
      @theaussiewhinger Před rokem

      Also, many airlines don't have foot rests in economy. So that's where these can help a lot.

  • @azizey9246
    @azizey9246 Před 2 lety +3

    Wouldn't the swinging movement annoy the person in front ?

    • @RealMuperSan
      @RealMuperSan Před rokem

      Yea, wondering same thing. I want it for the kids, but don’t want to bother the person in front.

    • @JaneSeesTheWorld
      @JaneSeesTheWorld  Před rokem +1

      This is a question I have gotten before and I can understand your concern. If you were to swing vigorously, then yes, it will probably move the seat in front of you. But if you are slightly rocking a few inches, it does not pull on the seat. I have tested this out and have not seen any movement. Better yet, I have never had the person in front of my give me the stink eye. I actually feel worse about reclining my seat. That has a bigger impact than the foot hammock.

    • @JaneSeesTheWorld
      @JaneSeesTheWorld  Před rokem +1

      I cannot provide any insight into kids using this product. As an adult, I do not use it in a way that bothers the person in front of me. But kids are a whole different ballgame :)

      Is this thing for people whose feet can't reach the floor or is it just changing the angle of your knees and hips. I'm 6 ft 4 I know I won't get one but what does it do for people who are 5 foot 5 or whatever

  • @Aloy501

    I am 5'10", do you think this would work?

    • @JaneSeesTheWorld
      @JaneSeesTheWorld  Před 5 lety +2

      Yes I do! It is completely adjustable. So you could put your feet two inches about the ground, or 10. Of course, if you adjusted it really high, your knees would be in your chest! I'm 5'8" and I like the variety. Just this past weekend I used it on a flight out of Chicago. I had it up about a foot off the ground for an hour or so. Then I put my feet on the ground for a while. Then I put it up about 4 inches off the ground for the rest of the trip. It is just nice to mix things up when you are stuck in the same seat for hours.
