Finally! Some one that actually handmade a page that wasn't a bunch of store bought papers! Very pretty!
Thank you. I actually find it really difficult to create with pre made papers, so I rarely use them in any of my projects :-)
I would put my life on hold every time to watch this artist produce such exquiste pieces!
Well I'm almost done and boy is this fun! I don't have all the same stuff so I improvised. Used Ranger gold glitter to add to my paint. Cut a diamond out of an old cling-on stamp using more paint and then overlaid Liquitex Iridescent medium. And the best one is cutting diamonds for the little squares with a pair of edger scissors. Also had to use molding paste for my homemade diamond stencil. It looks fabulous! Only catch is I used gloss mod podge. I'm thinking I need to modge podge the entire page at the end.
@RachO113 This is one of my favorite Art Journal Pages ever. Words to live by!
Yes, no problem, my videos are there for inspiration :-) Thank you for asking though, very much appreciated!
Wow! This is so beautiful. :)
I still can't get over how beautiful this page is!
soul eater soul Evans fan011111119000222233 Awww, thanks very much. it's always nice to hear my work has inspired people :-)
Yes, as soon as I find time - it is a lengthy process making them, and I just haven't been able to fit it in lately, but I will get there :-)
I been watching your videos re: journaling for the past two days. Your art work evokes many emotions in me...mostly smiles..always thoughtful. I thank you for sharing. I am 70 years old and still learning and you have awaken the desire in me to start creating again.
I'm 15 and u have inspired me to start an art journal. damn ur talented
I agree, I am inspired also..just came across your channel and looked at a couple of uploads..love your work😍
Thank you so much for the wonderful inspiration. I thoroughly enjoyed the lesson video. I can't wait for more ♥
''Don't put your life on hold to watch someone else live their dreams''. Thank you for that.
I have been digging 10 years past as I’m on part-time retirement, my own business and came across this lovely piece
Enjoyed watching the blend or colors in the background. The charcoal pencil adds the bold soft outlines needed on the page, Great video and thanks for taking thetime to create it.
You're still the queen of all things art and I so admire your seemingly endless talent. Many thanks for the inspiration and for sharing!
Great page. Love the colors and the idea of stamped words onto old book pages.
Thanks for sharing and the inspiration!
I watched this a couple of hours ago and forgot to comment. This was the first video of yours that I watched...it's just incredible. This is truly inspiring work! TFS Hugs. Maggie
I love your background music! Happy New Year!
The most obvious thing is that you see where you want this to go. I love it.
I LOVE how you give us such a good look at the labels of the products you are using!
Love the quote considering I'm sitting here watching you living my dreams lol. Beautiful page :)
FANTASTIC!! and very creative! I LOVE all your work, it makes me feel so good just to watch your videos! Thank You for sharing all these BEAUTIFUL creations, they all get 'thumbs up from me. =)
The journal I am using here is the Moleskine Sketch which has a purple label when buying. I might advise you though that if you use a lot of heavy, textural mediums in this journal, the binding does not hold up well. I've actually cut the spine on mine so that the pages are free to take as much room as they need, and will add a new spine once the journal is finished. The Moleskine sketch has lovely paper though - very smooth and cardstock thickness.
I use matt gel for journal pages. The stencil is made by Crafter's Workshop. It is called Mini Tile Texture :-)
Beautiful work. I am just starting art journaling. Love this, something to aspire too
I love this! I haven't attempted a mixed media page yet but this has really given me the incentive to try. Your work is amazing, and I absolutely love this phrase ... it really speaks to me because this is exactly what I've done. And now it's time to learn to be me again. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful talent. :)
just watching this put me in a better place....thanks for sharing
No, I don't have another blog, I'm just really bad at keeping it updated lol I'll try and get to it soon :-)
Loved your page design and your quote, even though I am not following it as I watch you create this inspiring journal page. ;-)
I love the visual depth of this piece!
Fun! Lots of technique in one video! Thanks for sharing and showing me how to do this and the inspiration!
This is the first video of yours I watched. I'm just starting out on this new adventure been wanting to do journaling but not a fan of all the writing. so when I saw art journaling I was thrilled. Your video has inspired me and I was wondering are you putting some water before painting with the paint first. You do awesome art work.
That music though...loved the whole thing! Thank you!
Yes, warm water and liquid soap - I also use an old toothbrush to make sure I can get it out of all the tiny crevices.
THANKS SO MUCH! This phase will hang as a banner on the wall in my studio for 2014. Thanks so much. I will email you a picture when I finish the banner.
Your art is beautiful, and I appreciate how you display your products before using them so we can see brands, colors, and makers. I bought the Lumiere Halo Blue Gold because of this video, and it is gorgeous! Would you please tell me how you created the book-page hearts? Did you use a series of punches, or nested dies?
In love with your art work you gotta be proud of yourself my gosh!
Absolutely love everything you do. I go back and look at all your videos for inspiration and instruction. You are incredible!
so amazing ! Will defiantly be coming back and subscribing your channel! Amazing....
A heat gun for drying the pages. You can find these at all craft shops. I have 2 - The elongated shaped ones like I use on the video have a strong, directional heat & are best for quick drying where nothing will blow away, e.g. paint, regular embossing powders. The hair dryer shaped heat guns however, have a softer, more diffused heat and are better when working with UTEE which will blow away with the other tool, it can be used for the same purposes as the elongated tools, it just takes longer.
I love all your creations. I totally agree with your quote. You make me believe is a simple page to do but im sure is because your the best doing art jurnal. I love your work
I loved watching this process. It was very inspiring and I picked up a lot of creative journal ideas to apply. Thank you so much for sharing. I loved your page!!!!!
+Birdie Harms Thank you very much. Glad to hear you got some ideas from it :-)
Once again you have created a beautiful piece of work. 95 percent of the art journals I see are a hot mess. You are one of the rare exceptions. Your sense of color and design outshines the vast majority of what I have seen. Brilliant.
You DO mix the media, Rach! Love watching you work.
I so appreciate that you hold materials up to the camera long enough for them to be legible, even with time lapse! So many (most) youtubers forget about that.
Love the page and all your work.
It is a ground and a primer. It allows paints to spread more easily, and absorb less into the page. It can also be used like a white paint to blend and lighten areas of a painting. When used with other water based mediums, it can be used to create resist effects too. Hope that helps :-)
Not only is this work of art beautiful but it has a powerful message. Plz keep doing more art!
You can use whatever you want. Many people use watercolour paper, but that can be expensive if you don't really need it. Heavy cardstock is a good choice if using a lot of different mediums, and you can bind it yourself when your pages are finished. However, you can buy journals specifically for journaling - the journal shown here is a Moleskine Sketch (look for the one with a purple label) It has card stock pages instead of paper. Strathmore Visual Journals are also a good choice. :-)
I always comment on videos if I like them. But I've never told anyone that they are talented. You my dear are talented. I love the way you accent every little piece you add. Thanks for all the videos.
Love all your layering. This is beautiful
Love how you just simply outline and layer to make things pop. Love your work. TFS. Jamie
Simply amazing! Tfs. Hugs,Dee xx
Great to see another of your fantastic art works! Thanks for sharing.
Hola Rachel. He visto su último vídeo sin ningún problema. Me parece un trabajo fantástico, como todos. Sin duda es usted la inspiración de muchos de nosotros. Gracias por sus enseñanzas.
Love the video, the music and the inspiration! Thanks for sharing!
I love that you write nice comments, even on other people's channels.
I love how you cut the pages of text into hearts to put over the paint!
THAT IS SO CLEVER!!!
How very amazing you are. You have shared some of your gift with us, I'm grateful. Watching this video was 17 minute creative, lovely vacation. May you continue to create such beauty for many, many year. ~ Taking the time to show the product you are working with is such a gracious and kind addition to this spectacular presentation. ~ Thank you, thank you.
Beautiful coloring, I love the teal! The Italian music in the background is really cool!
I use gel medium, it's great stuff and it does not leave things crunchy, lol It dries almost like a flexible plastic. You can get either matt or gloss finishes. I like the Golden brand, but it is more expensive than others, so shop around. It comes in different types - I like soft gel medium for most applications as it gives you a little longer drying time. Regular gel is better for heavier jobs, but dries very quickly.
every time I think it's done, it's beautiful.... you add some more wonder to your piece. thanks for sharing this x
Hi Demi, I used Ranger Glue & Seal (matt finish) to glue down the book page, then swtiched to soft gel medium to glue down the text as it needed something stronger - regular gel medium would have been better (stronger again), but I was all out of that. The "white suff" was gesso, but you can achieve the same effect with white acrylic paint, just dilute it to how you like it. hope that helps :-)
You are like the Queen of Mixed Media! I love this!
Love your techniques and beautiful layering!!
It doesn't matter how old one of your video's is, I still get inspired!! Been sitting for 3 weeks, because of knee replacement surgery, and this just caught my eye. I am so looking forward to doing this one. Thanks for the inspiration!!!
Another beautiful project, Rach! I love watching your videos!
Earlier, I was ranting on about how jealous I was of someone living their dreams while I haven't achieved anything lately. Kind of put me depressing mood. Then, I stumbled upon this video.. Strange how it seems as if though I was meant to see this message. It definitely motivated me to keep going & work harder. Thanks for sharing your beautiful artwork
Great to see you back with a video. Wonderful page. Love the colors, but I love what it says even more. SO TRUE!! TFS, Heather
I miss you! I hope you will do more videos soon. You were the first mixed media person I found on the web and still my favorite. With your inspiration I've done a few projects myself. I pretty much already had most of the supplies. It was a natural transition . You really have changed my life.
Hi Dar, I'm good and well thanks, hope you are too, Hugs, Rach xx
OMG MIND BLOWNED THAT IS SO ..... PERFECT SO BEAUTIFUL I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!!!!

Hi Maria, That's wonderful to hear. I hope you have as much fun with it as I do :-)
Love the page. Love the message. Loved watching you work!
Literally say here the whole time thinking, "If only I could do that." It's amazing! Love it!
What a wonderful page , love everthing about it
TFS
Nicky
Stunning. Loved watching you process.
Yes, you can try the technique with any metallic paints, though cheaper brands may require additional coats in order to properly cover the foil. As an alternative to Lumiere, I also like Stewart Gill paints - available online direct from their web site, though these are not cheap. Cheaper craft paints should also fine however, so try whatever you have available to you, and have fun:-)
Hi Jules, Nice to hear from you. I'm using Ranger Archival ink for stamping the text :-)
Thanks Rachel, always love your work.
mesmerising ...... speechless....
racho113
@FrostyJava I totally agree with you, seeing these videos make me feel so inspired. I wanna go out and tell the world how amazing Rachel is!

Love the colors and watching your process
LOVE THIS..... THE COLOR IS BEAUIFUL..... LOVE TEAL ... I COULD WATCH YOUR VIDOES ALL DAY .... THANKS!!!!
I always love watching you create and this video is no exception!
It's a journal where thoughts, experiences and emotions of every day life are communicated through art. Some people use writing alongside their art in a diary like fashion, others use imagery alone, or mostly imagery with either a quote, meaningful sentence or simple word to convey thoughts or messages. Art journals are also often used as a type of relaxation therapy, or healing process for many people.
Yes Thankyou. And people use makeup and clothing n jewellery . Love Art forever
