  • In collaboration with KEY Projectʻs Holomua Youth Program and Koʻolau ʻĀina Aloha Network, Project Kuleana presents Nā Pua Lei ʻIlima, written by Abbey Palea and Kauʻi Zuttermeister.
Along with Johnny Townsendʻs composition, Nani Nā Pali Hāuliuli, this newest Project Kuleana production allowed several Koʻolau youth to explore the concept of Aloha ʻĀina and to become more aware of Koʻolauʻs prominent role in Aloha ʻĀina education advocacy throughout Hawaiʻi and beyond.
Mahalo a nui loa to Hōkū Zuttermeister and family as well as the many artists, Koʻolau based aloha ʻāina organizations and most importantly the ʻohana and ʻōpio that participated in producing this project. “Ua haʻaheo i ka maka ke ʻike aku.”
Mahalo pū to the Kamehameha Schools, Castle, Hauʻoli Mau Loa and Consuelo Foundations for their support in this project as well as always advocating for aloha ʻāina to be a part of our ʻōpioʻs educational pathway.
Finally, Project Kuleana, along with Hōkū, Kānaʻe and the other artists would like to dedicate this release to the memory of Ioane Burns, a true friend and supporter of PK, Aloha ʻĀina and Hawaiʻian Music. ʻO oe nō “ka nani kaulana poina ʻole,” e ke hoa.
    Ke Aloha ʻĀina!
