You should look intoit again. They really ramped up the cert, where you have to do a practical assignment as well as writ two tests, and the course changed.
Ngl. Datacamp in my opinion is better than Coursera.
It doesn't offer certification of completion instead you'll have to prepare that material then take the exam which is very elaborate on it's own right.
I regret wasting time on the google data analyst certification, which taught me basically nothing and I found myself in datacamp writing complex sql and python code.
Definitely worth it and I got the 20 dollars for a whole year deal, which was a steal imo.
I'm also planning to get down and dirty in DE stuff and machine learning.
If datacamp really wanted to be perfect. They should just focus on building a comprehensive math course which includes statistics and algebra.

i totally agree with you as i have faced the same situation and founded dataCamp more practical while coursera is almost only theoretical. Though, as a mathematician, the learning track will definitely be faster but nothing is impossible if you are dedicated

How did you get it for 20 bucks? It's 300 without discount, then 150 with discount lvl1, then 70 with discount lvl2.
Generally agree with the assessment on the overall course content, its relatively decent, and is a good introduction. As you point out the coding is quite specific for the assessments, it is also timed. I'm dyslexic, so this gives me little time to respond, and they do not do anything for dyslexics (approx. 5% of any population). Fair enough, I still pass the assessments, but not well despite the fact that I am a data scientist and code everyday.
The actual teaching is just filling in the blanks, and is not memorable, the projects are used to help stitch this all together but it doesn't really work. I completely agree about coursera, I would also recommend practicing some learning on kaggle. Also to anyone else looking to learn, I cannot understate how much reading data science books helps develop comprehension, there are even DS book clubs, although I have only seen this in the R community.
Note. Interestingly the book 'Hands on machine learning' by Geron recommends data quest as a bootcamp instead, which I have heard many say is better.

Depends where you are at, and if you want theory, coding, specific.
You can't read them all at once, and book clubs really help if you can find them, but honestly they have made me much better as a data scientist.
1. Introduction to statistical learning - code in R but github has python - also an associated course on edx, and free leactures on youtube - beginner
2. Elements of statistical learning - code in R but github has python
3. Kaggle Book - code in python, but knowledge is why to read it
4. Approaching (almost) any machine learning problem - code in python, but knowledge is why to read it
5. Feature Engineering and Selection: A Practical Approach for Predictive Models - code in R (on github), but knowledge is why to read it
6. Forecasting principle and practice - code in R but github has python - Specific for time-series if you are interested in that.
I don't have general recommendations for NLP and geo sorry.
Specific R books - highly recommend the R4DS slack community for book clubs run on most of these
Advanced R - advanced obviously, but beginners definitely benefit for the understanding
R for data science - General purpose - beginner
Supervised Machine Learning for Text Analysis in R - beginner to intermediate
Text Mining with R - beginner to intermediate
Tidy modelling with R - Intermediate
Specific python books - Obviously I started in R so I don't tend to read so many intro or intermediate books here.
Python Data Science Handbook - beginner - equivalent of R for data science
Hands-On Machine Learning with Scikit-Learn, Keras, and TensorFlow - beginner to advanced - Similar to tidy modelling book

Hey guys 👋 I'm currently learning on datacamp and Coursera for IT support specialist. In my point of view as a beginner both are great but on Coursera it'll be more on the basics of technologies while on other hand datacamp focuses on data which I'm going to need in reality besides knowing the basics of technologies. I'm hoping to land on a remote job on this even without highschool degree.

@@Adiyan4 Hey ! So it actually helped me understand the database in which I'm actually helping out IT college students for free. It helped me out greatly in making projects from students information in HTML, C# on visual studio for a desktop application, and an android app for a BioData as well.

I wish you could do a clip for preparation on these certificates. They have case study and it sounds like slides preparation and oral presentation must be done on 3 days. Pretty difficult for non-native.
Didn't know when and why did Datacamp change it to 72 hours because it was only 24 hours before. Pretty crazy considering the analysis, report and presentation.
@@KC-pp3fl Thanks. They change criteria regularly though. I have got both DA, DS professional certificates from them already, but they expire in two years. DA data preparation is much harder. DS is easier considering you have to also write technical report.
@@armnakornthab6867 Thanks. I didn't manage to submit on time before. Do you know if Datacamp tests us with the same case study if we make another attempt next time? It was about the recipe popularity when I first attempted it.
@@KC-pp3fl Probably not. For DA I got boat sales data and for DS I got second-hand car data.
How long is ds certification in hours?

Both, I'm currently learning datacamp and Coursera for IT support specialist. I've already started on Coursera before datacamp I'm hoping to land a job after this.
Both are good, but for a beginner with zero knowledge I'd recommend datacamp

It's better than Google's cert. That's for sure.
Get datacamp cert then get the Microsoft cert and you'll be more than fit for an entry role I would say.
