    Hey folks!, so I'm a new sub to the channel, as a retired US Air Force Flight Crew member, I have been to Japan many times and have many happy memories from there. The things I find most endearing about the channel; 1. the obvious love you share with one another, 2. the total sense of adventure you bring to your vids and vlogs, 3. your love of food and culture! I am a big fan of asian culture, and If I could relocate to another part of the world in my retirement years, Japan would rate high on my list. Best of luck, and future success as you live your lives together. I think the channel is awesome.

    I got to say, the food here is just stunning. All of your videos that feature catering are beyond awesome. I think I would enjoy Japan. I think Westerners are attracted to the order, specifically the attention to detail. It is quite enthralling. I also really dig the range of flavours they favour. The beverages in particular and the use of roots and flowers which nobody eats here - but likely did once, only we have forgotten to our detriment. The biggest, most striking thing though, is the complete lack of PC and (though it may not be a good thing) the overt emasculation/feminisation of everything. That kinda chimes with Texas. You're responsible for you. That is a standard you adhere too (vs compelled too out of fear of consequence) and nobody needs to remove your personal freedoms to determine what is and isn't 'acceptable' in order to homogenize waves of outsiders to maintain the equilibrium. I miss that. It died within my lifetime here anyway. The Japanese may be anti immigration and even overtly racist - I do not see anything wrong with that if it means a uniqueness of culture is preserved. I'm not saying Old Enoch was right, but he certainly had a point.

    I wish the foods you experienced there could be made here! I miss a ton of food I remembered there and will never remember its names to even ask for it. If I see it, smell it I will know it is it! Just having a great traditional Okonomiyaki would be a phenomenal start! I know there are a very few restaurants that try to make it here but it doesn't even come close. A few foods I almost forgotten that you brought it back to my memory! WOW! A reason to visit Japan again, just for the food!

    • @Shadowdancer00
      @Shadowdancer00 Před 8 lety +7

      yup yup! The deer are super domesticated there and aren't afraid of people so that you can go up and pet them if you want (don't do it tho there are signs everywhere telling you to not touch the deer). They go into shops and people feed them and they just walk around chilling

    • @MarkandMarie
      @MarkandMarie Před 8 lety +2

      That is beyond amazing! Deer are very part of the people here, but they
      still won't let you near them. They will stand in front of your car,
      eat out of your bird feeders, gardens, refrigerator, but not your hand.
      They're not so much domesticated as they have domesticated their humans
      here. lolol Strange how COMPLETELY different that is just about two
      hours North of us though.

    • @joedirt2656
      @joedirt2656 Před 8 lety +1

      People do hunt around here but there was a deer in a park (where it was illegal to hunt) that would come right up to people. It was great. I found out later that some drunk that was petting it cut its throat with a pocket knife and as far as I know, just left it laying there. I have no issue with hunting but that was a truly unfortunate and senseless act.

    Best thing I remember about when I visited Japan was the food. Never had a bad meal there. Even the Western food was excellent - my first meal in Japan was at a little German-style hot dog place, I was pressed for time and just needed something quick before catching the subway. Maybe the best hot dog of my life haha, it was that good.
    I will have to return someday just for the food :)
