man nice air fooler rare bike, your lucky i wish i could still ride,,i got injured bad at work,i dont even remember there being a 450 2 stroker, hmm learn something new every day,i know some were liquid and some were air coolers, the last toy i had and fixed up was a 1984 250R atc man what a beast i tricked it out, stretched the swingarm 4 inches had it chromed it had douglas rims with wide offset plus wheel spacers so it was long and wide so you could get down and it wouldnt flip, you could drift it,damn
Had one of these they are nasty but hate that the kick starter was on the left side really hard to kick. Unfortunately I ended up giving it away for like nothing a few years ago and regret it now. Cool rare bike
Just curious, that is not an 81 seat. The blue seats were not until 83. Is it an after market seat cover with the foam extension? I had an 82 250 and bought one of those in early 83. Then I bought the 83 cr 250. Honda made about a 5 year leap from the 82 to 83. Love seeing videos of these older bikes. Always wonder what Honda was thinking in 81 with those number plates.
@@tonyelliott7734 The documentary I was watching on the bike only made mention that was a side effect, that the intention was so riders could be more easily followed/placed. I don't know, I'm 31, I wasn't around for the debut, only what information was left for me to process.
@@yahweh1x543 Since it was the only manufacturer that used that design for only one year, I'm fairly certain it was because of the radiator airflow situation. I'll post a link describing it if I can find it again.
i love how people point out things like. OMFG, the seat is blue they didnt make blue seats till 1983. Did you think maybe in 35 years maybe the bikes been worked on? come on people
Beautiful bike however probably the worst CR Honda ever built the factory bikes were killing it on the track but the only thing transferring over to the production bike was the color red
The frame is 81' the seat is 83 ,,big bore bikes weren't liguid cooled at that time ,,tank appears to be of XR 350 ,,- 600 LINEAGE!! just to name a few...
Detomaso Pantera The CR450 engine was weak compared to the competition and was mated to an oddly geared 4 speed gearbox that did it no favors. The clutch was borrowed from the CR250 and was not up to the task. The engines had some issues as well aside from being less powerful than the competition. They are a cool classic bike, but the CR450 was Honda’s first chance at an open class bike and it was a flop. The CR480 and later CR500 that followed were much better bikes, though the CR450 was not all bad. It simply wasn’t as reliable or fast as the competition, but the suspension was decent, which is the only thing it really had going for it.
Honda made the "CR450R" in "1981", it was hyped up in the media claiming it was a close copy of their factory race bikes,,,but the sad truth was, it was a complete joke, the list of things wrong with the 81' 450R would fill up a dumpster!! in reality ,,it was the worst dirt bike Honda ever made!!! Look it up .... If you can find an original all stock museum piece ,,, just to add to your collection of hondas,,, then yes,,,but that bike is indeed a 81' CR450R ----2 STROKE!!;;;;
I still love the earlier CR red engine mighty Elsinore 😅

Hola hermana Fili
Love find one those engines rebuild it put it in my 1st gen 250r trike frame. Bet I'd rip
baffles me that honda thought that number plate was a good design. Lmao!
Well, at the time they would have watch boxes that were raised above the track, this made it easier for accurate relay of rider positions.
@@yahweh1x543
The number plate design was so the CR 125 radiators got better airflow. And they used the same plates on the 250 and 450.

Ok Oi
does that only have 4 gears?
Why you need more?

F this,,I'm going to pay three times the price and go to Kaplans !

From my knowledge, this isn't an 81. 81 was the first year they had two stroke models liquid cooled
The first open class bike honda liquid cooled was 1985 Cr500.
huh. i could have sworn that i read that the 450 was liquid cooled
So the 1981 model id on the frame is fake?😂😂😂
Yes only 1981 cr125 smaller bike had liquid cool and big 450 were air cool
