Good luck with that, if you start studying with knives, you’d better find someone who really knows knives. Many of these knife techniques used in these styles today is just something the instructor throws in to keep the student busy. I’ve trained Green Berets, Navy Seals, and Police departments all over the world, and many of them had learned the wrong moves too. Find a Filipino instructor who works with blades, then find a former Special Forces instructor who once had a Filipino instructor. Good luck.

If the abuser has too much strength compared to you, or if he is stronger and bigger than you, it won't work. The best technique my Sensei has taught me is to lift a shoulder and bring it forward/to the side and no one can resist that. :)
