- This is some previously never uploaded footage from Dollywood #70 in 2004 and some already uploaded footage combined into one video. Also a rare shot of #71 outside the shop before she was dismantled.
Thanks for editing and uploading! The finished product was awesome!
Great vid! I live in Knoxville and the sad thing is i havent seen 107 or 154, cus of Covid =(
At 15:42 That Whistle is so cool i keep backing it up to it Lol
That’s an original Lenoir City cast southern 3 chime whistle. There’s not many of those left.
@@SouRwy4501Productions Well i sure sounds beutiful
Man 71 was a good engine
Thanks for sharing! It's especially nice to see #71 "In Full" for once as well! Do you have any footage of 192 from this time period as well?
No just a picture or two from the 90's
That Lenoir City Cast Southern 3 really fits 70 imho
So, it’s been 3 years now.. any new info on 71? Or have they just let it keep setting there (like they have the past 20 or so years now)
I've seen 107 When I was younger But now that I'm grown up I sawher once again
107 Was also put on display because 1: What you said and 2: Its brakes were wood and caught fire and it was a runaway and they had to use one of the other engines to stop it. (They realy only had to derail it)
If the engine was re built then it wouldn't have wooden brakes anyway, they would not be legal to use today. But it's highly unlikely to ever run again.
@@baldwinloco12 Well my mom said that its brakes caught fire.
@@55theredengineproductions62 She's probably right that's just now the reason she's not restorable.
@@baldwinloco12 It's sad that she won't run again with her sister 154
If I recall correctly, 107 was once involved in a boiler explosion in Chattanooga. Back then, she was number 419 for the ETV&G. The failure happened somewhere on the property that the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum now occupies, likely just past Whiteside Tunnel.
What happened to the engine that was on the other side of the Rebel Railroad/Goldrush Junction sign?
It's in Chattanooga at the Chattanooga Choo Choo place in downtown.
Is 71 all the parts in the railyard
yes
Okay so this might not be needed but all the steam engines at dollywood are 2-8-2's. but 107 is a 2-8-0
Yes
Somebody should make a club to restore steam locomotives like 107 at 18:00
That sounds like a great idea.
And here I was under the impression that 71 was the locomotive that arrived at the park with no boiler. Well then.
That was its sister engine 72 that came without a boiler. 72’s boiler was critically damaged after a fire in one of the engine houses. They scrapped 72’s boiler, but kept the rest of the locomotive. 72 is currently being used as a spare parts donor for 70.
Apparently 70 has 72’s frame if I’m not mistaken
why was 71 dismanteled?
To be inspected and re built i'm sure. a steam engine has to be dismantled before it can be evaluated and re built. It was decided it was to expensive to re build her.
@@baldwinloco12 Thanks for telling me.
is that why she has been out if service this long?
9:30 what type of whistle is that?
It’s a Southern 3 chime.
Sounds very unfamiliar for a southern 3 chime, it reminds me of tweetsie 190's Crosby
@@RailfanDude610 also the whistle then sounds very different for a southern 3 chime
I’m with Railfanboy610, it’s definitely a Southern 3 chime.
As far as I know of, Southern railway 3 chimes are the only whistles that have their levers at the top. The way it sounds is very similar to the Rebel Railroad (Lenoir City cast) southern 3 chime after it was modified in 1995 to sound like 4501’s whistle.
How much longer until 71 is restored?
As far as I know there are no current plans to restore the engine.
71 was originally supposed to be a backup engine for 70 when they arrived to what would eventually be today’s Dollywood. I guess that since 192 is working as 70’s backup engine, 71 just isn’t needed. The only way that 71 could ever run again is if someone were to outright buy it.
What's the status of 192 & 71 today???
#192 runs today, # 71 is dismantled and probably wont run any time soon.
That’s a shame for 71 but at least 192 still runs
You are mistaken, the park has plans to restore 71 to an oil burner and extend the tracks to the Dollywood hotel. This won’t happen until 10 years from now though
@@baldwinloco12 That's to bad 70 lost her sister Never to turn another revenue wheel
@@mattdotsonrailfanproductio266 Not what I was told by Tim Smith who works on them.
Why was 71 take apart?
To inspect condition for possible restoration.
Was 71 ever used?
No
Where is 71 now
As far as I know she is stored at Dollywood.
I don’t know why everybody is saying stuff about 71 like is she coming back or is she being restored I’m taking her and making her look like Cinderella
Dollywood has no current plans to restore 71, maybe someday.@@Codyrhodes800
@@baldwinloco12 I will get 71 off Dollywood get a truck to take it to where I will love and make it look like cinderella
Sure, i'm sure they will do that...@@Codyrhodes800
Why did they dismantle the 71?
For inspection to determine the engines condition.
Sadly, plans to restore her fell through. Many doubt whether 71 will ever run again.
They all need to be restored And I mean like 107 71Because they could just restore 107 and fix all the problems can maybe get fixed @Baldwinloco12 Please reply To this comment
107 is a different gauge, so she couldn't work at dollywood
