My husband wants to offer a suggestion he uses his bucket on his tractor to push the t-post in and of course I have to hold it till he puts a little pressure on it and I move out of the way and he drives it on down, this is way quicker , He loves your site
That's the same approach my wife and I use on our place.
You need a cowboy straw hat, brim to keep the sun off, straw to let the head breathe, take that from a Texan with no shade but plenty of sun.....
No Doubt that’s how we all are on top of those commercial rooftops during summer hvac times

Definitely a job for cooler weather. We maintain our fence lines during Thanksgiving break. Cousins, nieces and nephews earn money for Christmas.

I really admire your fence building. I don't have a need for nearly as much as you, but I can't seem to get myself to slow down enough to keep my line straight and posts the same height. You really do a nice job on camera.
I wish I could borrow some of your energy. I worked on the garden for quite a few days. Started off with a cultivar and doing it every day different directions. Then came time to get rid of the sod and weeds which seem to take forever. I'm 69 years old but I love being outside. So now its planted with tomatoes which we both love and have missed eating them for 10 years since we were in Florida and now in Missouri so we could garden. If you needed many staples they do make a battery powered staple gun, a little costly though.

That okbrand fence is made in Madill Oklahoma and those t-post are probably made right down the road in Durant Oklahoma at our steel mill. Simi loads roll out everyday. Both places are hiring if anyone wants to move to south central Oklahoma.

I know this was a while back and you've been using the finished fence for a while. So I just thought I would watch and see the start of it and it's end results looks good. I did a lot of fencing back in the 70's and a quite a bit in the 90's and 2000's so I know how much of a chore it can be, also a lot of different approaches. I grew up on a mixed farm in Alberta CDN , I feel your fencing pain! No fencing for us in the winter other than wire repair, everything is frozen solid! It was always a summer job as we were too busy with spring field preparation and seeding, haying was really the only field work in the summer. I like your fence design and nice job , it looks great so far!

There's just no way to work with barbed wire and not get stuck, tangled up or cut on it I am convinced - been there, done that many times. Thanks for sharing. Looks like it will make a great pasture for the steers.
Looks good. I've been building fence since I was 10, but you can always learn something about anything. I've gotta build some shortly, until it's too hot. Then will wait for winter to finish.

When you get to clearing the old fence line leave a few trees for shade. The animals will appreciate it.
We plan to leave the big trees. Just clear the brush.

When I grew up on the farm we used to use the tractor to pull the fence tight. Put the tractor past the the last post and put the stretcher bar on the fence then pull, that way you can nail the fence to the last post without any sag and don't have to use a come-a-long.
When we fenced for cattle we used a 6 wire barbed wire fence and used t-posts every 10 ft using 6' posts no wood posts in between corners except did H post every 400' or 500' on a straight run but we had steel H posts and they were set 4' deep in the ground. And we used twist in stays between the t-posts to keep the separation between the strands of barb wire. Bulls are crazy when they see cows on the other side of the fence. We fenced off sections of land not small paddocks, alot of wire used. Wheat pastures for winter grazing we used electric fences single wire mainly mostly 160 acre fields of wheat. Alot of work!
we have always used the front bucket on our tractor to push t post in the ground...just have someone hold it til you can get pressure on it then push away lol

Your hay has got to be close to ready to cut. I am in the process of putting up a new barnyard fence and was hoping to get it done before first cut. That’s not going to happen. Dang full time job always gets in the way of farming. Your fence looks great.

Helpful hint. Mark your wood reference where the post pounder is so you don’t have to take it off to line up the t-post height saves a few seconds per your post. Adds up in the end. Doing a great job
We ended up puttinga mark on the pounder and a mark on the stick. So we could match them up.
LOL Wait all winter for nice weather so we can work in the heat and flies.

Regarding the old fence line. You could set the new fence farther out ( west ?). That would save you from having to cut trees now plus you would still have the shade. Just a thought.

Baby goats are doing g dine and the baby turkeys, all five are doing good as well.
Living traditions has a motorized t post pounder works awesome maybe it's something you could rent it's easier on the bod. Lol especially on hot days
you might want to look into getting one of those gas power t post pounders like some of the other homesteads use

High five 🤚🏼 😁 My suggestion for the T post is that you should invest in a T pose gas power pounder. #1 It will save your back in the long run and potentially develop a herniated disc. #2 It will be also be quicker and you can do more without being out of breath. Something to think about. Munch love to you guys. Ps did you name your baby goat Diamond 💎🤣

Evan on the older fence line would it work out better to run like a poly wire temporary fence on the front side of the trees til you would get the trees cleaned out and new permanent fence install just a idea to get steers moved sooner and you wouldn’t be rushed to clear the trees
U two work well together but I think your wife might be a little expensive sometimes when it comes to diamonds lol enjoy your day
Common rule is you when you’re doing fence you put in six TPost and one wooden

I'm just curious will the barbed wire hurt whatever you put there.. you work good together. It's so beautiful out there. The grass and trees are so green. It's be a great place to chill after a long day..
It will only hurt if they try to go under the fence.
This looks awesome! How do you get your field fence tight? With the woven wire I have found that difficult at times.
I would suggest running a electric fence along the tree line, but with room to work on clearing.

Unless it's a corner, always tie off to the first post at the H brace, never to the farthest post. Spinning posts loosen fences.
I am not sure if the inverter has a surge arrestor for the solar panels. if not, they are easy to add.

Yes, you can use the same tool. I have some and have used them before.

I think I paid about $350 a roll.
Why didn't you use cement in post holes ?
Dirt is free. And packed back in the hole the post is held in firm. This is a common practice for farm fence.
We only put barbed wire on the top run .if you've ever seen a horse rip it's belly open on it you'll see why we don't put it on all three runs .but inexperienced people have to learn on Thier own at the animals expense .I guess .

You really need to invest in a gas powered post driver! I spent maybe 300 bucks and i will never hand pound a t post again!
