In this video, I'll be reacting to clips from a recent Mohnish Pabrai Interview where he shares the investment strategy and portfolio of one of the best investors in recent times, Rakesh Jhunjhunwala. Rakesh was an investor/trader from India, and he had one of the most remarkable investing track records of all time. He compounded his net worth by roughly 30% a year for over 40years, and this was mainly due to buying and holding 2 high quality compounders, with long runways. Mohnish also shares the businesses that Rakesh owned and gives a quick breakdown on why they were huge multibaggers.

I like the formula of this channel. Alot of guest talking interspersed with brief summarisation from the host
Rakesh jhunjhunwala is better than buffet for the fact that he never managed others money but made all his money from stock market and his net worth is far more than recorded cause he never speaks about it all his net worth shown in is invested in stock but he was also a great real estate investor so we can say his net worth was approx 10 billion and also his new venture akasa air wich already has ordered 74 Boeing planes wich is started this year only and has already developed a good business can make him many more money folds then anyone else and if we see they have just talked about Titan but he is also one of the greate trader of world last year only he earned a ton of money via Zee merger trade and other small trades he do .
air line industry is not profitable 😂😂
@@pratyushsaboo9471 it is across the world as of india it has a huge opportunity

Excellent video. Thanks 🙏🏻
9:50 on why it is difficult to beat the index
Alppreciate your passion.
Such an under rated channel - subbed
To think that he started with no capital of his own, his return on investment is infinite!!!
I know, it's insane!
I still cannot grasp the part when the investor should not sell the stock if the business exceeds its intrinsic value but is still getting better. I looked at Titan's stock price for the last 10 years and did not see any price difference. MCD, on the other hand, has doubled its revenue and the market's overall PE has increased. This explains why the stock price increased
Rakesh was smart person,He is well known in Indian investing community,He was rare combination of trader and investor a very rare combination,he kept them away like family time and Job.
Love your videos bro :)
Thanks bro! Appreciate the kind words :)
Best investing is always simple.
Please do a full video on Sir RJ!
CA Rakesh jhunjhunwala is just amazing....
Most better performing stock traders happen to be insider-traders first. It is all the same everywhere.
If a company is overvalued (I.e. it doesn’t generate alpha) and therefore if it does, then it wasn’t overvalued to begin with…
Indeed. A stock should be worth buying at CMP if I am planning to hold it. But if it's just a hold then how can I expect other people(probably smarter than me) to consider it a buy? Stock can rise only if it has buyers at higher and higher prices.
Titan is now 80 pe, and still grow multiple times.
Titan has actually compounded at north of 40% since last 2 decades. RJ had invested his first lot in Titan when it's marketcap was 125 cr,he kept buying all the way till 3k cr marketcap or so. Today it's valued at 3.33 lk crore...year back closer to 2 lk cr.
maybe in $ terms the CAGR is 30% or so.
Titan was a watch maker which diversified in to jewelry
Good job 👍
Thank you :)
As per Rakesh from record.
He never did intraday trading. Those trading bets were more like bet on changing fundamentals of company.
Although most of his wealth is generated through investing. He calls his trading activity as his mother of wealth.
No one can generate great wealth without huge capital or a very long compounding runway. One needs to do short term trading based on fundamentals (and yes it's way harder than anyone can think).
You are absolutely wrong. He did a lot of trading & all his early capital was built via futures & options. He has said on multiple occasions that trading is the mother of his wealth.
This type of stocks are coind as Giant Consistent compounders of India by Sourav Mukherjee.
Hidden gem channel 💎
Thank you so much :)
Do one on titan
Rakesh Jhunjhunwala has sold titan shares but he rebought those shares
I think it is important to consider the difference in trading and investing. The Graham model was trading, and these are the "cigar butt" stocks that Buffett talks about. Buffett has built his business operating like Thomas W. Phelps and a lot of Buffet's witty jokes and observations come directly out of Phelps' 1972 book. That book is the real Buffett model, not Graham. Graham was a trader, not investor.
He was referred to as the big bull of India
Also look at 1992 Indian Stock market scam most money was minted during that era...
The comparison isn't apt to be Frank. He was under investigation multiple times by sebi and similar organization for insider trading, if he was an American, he wouldn't be celebrated like in India, but jailed, he started trading with close to 18% of interest rates & bet everything on it. He did twice like this and made close to 100x returns, he made his initial money using insider trading and then shifted to long term investing.
His CAGR is 56% p.a.
RIP Rakesh
Charlie Munger Sculpture at the back!!
I really want one too! I know Mohnish does giveaways for a Munger bust now and again on his Twitter
Radakrishan damani do an video on him guru for rj
Not heard of? RJ is very popular than you think atleast within Indian subcontinent
Rakesh jhunjhunwala could hv beaten warren buffet ..if he lived more 10 years..or if 30 years... he could hv been biggest ..richest pvt portfolio holder
Hey Rajesh. I definitely agree. He was well on the way to becoming the largest ever with the best investment record
He's the most popular guy in India man, wtf wrong with your title
Poor audio
They have manipulated so many stocks with their built wealth, no one talks about that.. please do not mislead retail investors...😁
