I had this dill press for a couple years and it was just OK. The biggest problems I had was that I couldn’t drill with any bit larger than 1”, because the belt constantly slipped, causing other press to stall, no matter how much I tightened it.
I recently upgraded to the WEN 4214 and while it’s not a machinists drill press, it’s considerably better than my old 4210. With a 1.5” forstner bit, I drilled a hole in red oak with ease, no stalling or belt slippage.

Thank you for this video. I have the same drill press and picked up so many maintenance tips and tricks. You earned a subscriber!

Great review. Just FYI, there is a little black holder on the right side of the press to hold the chuck key.

I use a yoga mat under mine works great found it at a garage sale for a few bucks so it covers scroll saw, grinders, drill press etc. Never thought I would own a yoga mat lol! Great vid getting ready to maintenance my drill press! Was trying to find a replacement bolt for the housing cover mine was not long enough out the box didn't feel like sending it back for that reason can't seem to match it any hardware stores! You wouldn't happen to know the size of the thumb bolt so I can get a longer one?

I don’t know the size of the bolt, but if you Google the manual it might tell you. Also, that’s a pretty good idea to use a yoga mat, I might use that on other tools

@@NotThatMattNagy thanks I have all my manuals will check to see if it is in there we matched the metric bolt but I guess Wen has their own threads! Can't seem to match the thread pattern at all! Oh well I will come up with something clever! Just didn't want to void the warranty by cutting the hole open on the cover and making a bolt facing outwards with a wing nut to lock it in place! Have a great day!

These seem to have recently vanished from the market, do you know if they were recalled? Im trying to decide between this and 4208

You can still get the 4210t model for around 180 USD last 4210 I seen was on Amazon and it was like 300! I have the 4210 and 4210t the only real difference between them is that the 4210t has the laser built directly to the power where the 4210 requires batteries to operate! Go for a 10 inch but if you can afford it and are doing serious precision drilling than the 4214 is the way to go in my opinion!

"You put a little bit on the threads", not as much as you put on. Take it easy or you'll pay hell getting them back out.

It’s semi-permanent thread lock, not permanent, so it comes off by hand. If not, the knobs have flattened sides so I can use a wrench.
