- I head over to KTM USA HQ to pick up my new 2022 KTM 890 Duke R for my 2022 MotoAmerica/ Super Hooligan road race bike build, then head over to Chuckwalla Valley Raceway to ride it for the first time and break it in.

Okay that is freaking sick. That thing must be so fun!!!
looking forward for more videos on your 2022 890 duke R♥️
You are fantastic! Thanks from Italy!
Very good looking bike, thinking about getting this model. Thanks for sharing.
Very cool & fast. i have a 21' R - Looking forward to seeing the mods you make.
That blue tank is gorgeous, awesome graphics overal and great driving!
Thank you! Wait until you see the next couple videos…got one coming out in a couple of days
Nice video. I wish the 790 Duke had adjustable front suspension lol that’s my only rope with the 790 but I still love it
I’m riding the 890 duke R 2020 and this bike is a beast, still yet to ride at Sepang track due to COVID. Good review bro
Sepang looks amazing. Hope you get out to the track soon
They are the best bikes I think ;) it’s a pleasure watching you race etc, keep rocking it!!
I know right, watching him lean it over is pretty inspiring. I hope to take mine out to High Plains Raceway this upcoming summer! Have you tracked yours yet?
@@AlejandrosEngineeredLifestyle there’s no tracks on my little island :( good twisty roads though 👍
@@kitkatkilla890r I love riding twisty roads on my Duke.
@@scottie2wheels542 yeah that’s where it’s at ;)
I love kTm, more please Andy! .😁
Just bought one, my first street bike!4th Ktm though traded in my 450…
Great video 👍 I opted for a 2020 890 Duke R saved heaps off full retail price.
This is also what I did 👌🏽 saved me heaps so I could start my modification journey!
Would be interesting to know the difference in lap time between the street and race bike?
Damn that track is rough! More like a road course than a track it seems
U gotta move ur seat belt up it’s driving me crazy lol love the bike
Yeah, hopefully they finally fixed the thermostat housing leak!
Mine is still pissing down the front of itself like a drunk at the bar!
Same, mine is a 2020 and it’s territorial marked my garage constantly.
Thanks for the video Andy! I just got a 890 Duke R and you gave me inspirations on riding it the way it should, as well as idea for mods. You mentioned suspension being soft from the stock. At what pace do you recommend changing to the Apex Pro? Maybe upper A pace? I don't know how it compares to Ohlins. Also do you make adjustments on the suspension?
No slicks tyres? What do you need it for.
Great Rider
Cool store I wish we had one in Long Island NY
Brought one yesterday and I'm now just playing the waiting game. It'll be my 2nd ever bike going from a 2002 Bandit (600) I'm really looking forward to have some tech on the bike and just having fun with it.
It’ll be an amazing upgrade! Enjoy it
It’s quite the bike, even after 5k miles it’s exciting! I’ve just put a slip on on mine and I love it.
@@AlejandrosEngineeredLifestyle Awesome, I've been watching your videos and it's helped with my choice. Keep up the great work.
@@bumblebee_tuna That’s awesome, I am glad I’ve helped someone make a good choice! 😎
does your right boot touch the exhaust after you install the raised rear sets?
Great video am waiting to see what the 890gp has before I order a new one 👍
The GP I’m told is going to be the base model bike. It won’t have the adjustable suspension. But I hear it’ll have some cool graphics and a few anodized parts, but the Duke R is still going to be the higher end bike
Dope Bike 🔥 yoow.👏✨🎧
Andy nice review of the 2022 890R. Can I ask if you plan to continue to race this bike or just training? Any thought as to adding the KTM billet Triple Clamp? I am considering buying the 890R been a KTM owner for a long time...
This is going to be my new race bike for the super hooligan road race series within MotoAmerica.
My 2020 will be used for track day instruction and street riding once the series is over in July. Until then I’ll keep it prepped as a back up bike for the races I have coming up.
The clamps look sweet. No noticeable performance increase though.
Couple questions - 1. boot interference with the muffler? I wear size 12 boots and found when I got on the ball of my foot, the muffler forced an awkward angle on my ankle. It doesn't seem to be an issue for you, but wanted to ask. 2. What does the bike come with on the "side"? Passenger seat and foot pegs, a bolt on mudflap thing for the tail light. What else? A tool kit? Anything else?
It comes with a small tool kit, no room to keep it under the seat though
@Andy, Will you be adding a follow up video with the Race parts installed?
Yes, I just uploaded part 1 on my channel today.
I sure love my 890R and my 690 SMC R!
Do you do much with the 690 SMC R? I would like to see you race prep this bike and install all them goodies!
I haven’t had yet! They look like a ton of fun. I’ve rode the 701 enduro though
Also, I am making more videos on parts install
Intro song ?
interesting to hear that you have other fork cartridges on your race bike - i was under the impression that the 890 R had already the pro cartridges on (my bad).. i assume that for spirited road riding or non competitive race track days there is no need to upgrade any suspension parts on the "stock" 890 R?
No need to upgrade for what you said. Stock stuff is good on the R
I see you stuck to the recommended break in RPMs 😂
I did take a couple sessions easy. Prior to what was shown in the video. But yes, not the recommended procedure per the manual lol
@@andydibrino nicely done ✅
That engine gonna get some issues down the road😆
I’m pretty sure that rpm range varied quite nicely 😅
@@Snotroggel453 nah, as long as the engine is warmed up.
Hey Andy, curious you mentioned flipping your quick shifter around to be more GP? whats the difference? more response better feel?
GP shifting is up for 1st and down for 2nd to 6th. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it's easier to click down under harsh acceleration and allows for more ground clearance in turns by not having your foot underneath the shifter. Especially with the the amount of lean angle these guys have in turns.
I like the opposite shift pattern. It’s common for racing and something I’ve been doing on all my bikes for years. I definitely find it easier to ride this way though
Does flipping the shifter to gp affect the tech pack for the quicker shifter
No, I didn’t have to adjust anything electronically on the bike when I did this.
Did you adjust the stock suspension to the ‘sport’ settings in the manual, or just run it as-is?
I basically just ran it as is. I didn’t even know there were different settings in the manual haha. But on my 2020, I played with the settings and for a pro level rider like myself, it was still too soft.
@@andydibrino still faster than I’ll be going! Guess it will be fine for me. Settings are also on a sticker on the bottom of tail piece.
The 2022 with that Blue is too nice. Makes me sad with the white 2021 I have.
I like both colors! The blue tank is sweet though
Hey man does this thing have quick shifter on it? You’re so far over front end I can never see if you’re shifting with clutch haha!
Yes it comes stock with one 👍🏼
So, is it really the same bike? Just different color?
Basically 99% the same as a 2020/2021. The engine internally I’m told by KTM has more oil flow to the clutch for 2022.
The seat belt sitting on your bicep isn't annoying?
Lol yes it is
Had Any problems with the Duke 890r at all
Nope, both have been rock solid
I’m thinking to get one as mi first motorcycle. Only color have change in the 2022?
I’d go get one in a heart beat! You’re going to be stoked on it. Mostly the same bike with a color change, plus some slight internal differences to increase the longevity of the engine and oil flow to the clutch.
I would opt for the duke 390 if I were you, this is not a beginner bike at all.
@@motowhit yes I know it’s not the most suited as a first bike. I will take my chance 🤞🏾.
@@jesusamaroreyes4269 of your life?
@@motowhit Only time will tell what will happen. There is a lot o people that start in a leader bike which is x2 more risk and they do it. Just which me luck 😅.
How is sitting position? How tall are you?
I’m 5’11”. Definitely feels like a cross between a supermoto and sport bike.
Does it leak?
No leaks
I’m 6’4”, am I too tall for it?
I don’t think so. It’s less cramped than a sport bike
please stop filming in that wide angle, it's very hard to watch
If the bike wasnt so ugly I would probably get this over the likes of the mt09 but dear god are those orange and blues ugly and toy-like
