"That sounds like a complicated plan for this book only having 4 more pages."
"What?!?"
Seriously, that should be a short
So Sal actually left out one of the craziest things about the Fast And Furious things. Which is it got so crazy that Vin Diesel actually broke everyone down essentially using DND stat sheets then tried to apply DND combat hit point logic to measure out how much damage everyone was doing and taking. Sadly the studio didn’t use anything he did.
turning FnF into a DnD podcast where everyone plays their on screen characters would legit be dope
Well as we know Vin is an avid dnd player

Seriously it’s so funny
7:12 the climax of Betty Ross v Catwoman:
Betty, with Selina's lasso around her neck: "Save... Bruce!"
Oh, man. If it had been Doctor Doom and Brainiac, you know that "12th level intellect" bit would have made Doom swear another lifelong vendetta.
This book is NUTS!
So would the elaborate tunnel system made by Dr. Doom be called DOOM TUBES?
I officially need a Spidey run where he keeps getting 1up-ed by different superheroes and it always ends with the iconic Spider-man catchphrase, “Nuts!”
They're holding such a tiny book but this story has SO MUCH going on in it
47:00 Surprisingly Jim Shooter actually wrote a lot of Superman. He actually made his bones writing the Legion of Superheroes as a teenager. He also created the Parasite which is absolutely the only reason he's in this story. So I guess Shooter was just really bitter at DC.
I believe the Oz crossover was cause Marvel got the rights to adapt the book and not the movie, while DC's parent company WB owned the MGM classic. Marvel wanted to adapt it with the now iconic MGM imagery, flying monkeys, Ruby's slippers, melting the Witch, the 3 farmhands she dreams up as her Oz friends, ect. So Marvel just asked DC about it and they decided to coproduce it and slipt the money 50/50.
Basically: Marvel bought the rights because of the movie, didn't realize how much of that movie was distinctly...not in the novels, but no one at Marvel really wanted to draw a super accurate adaptation eschewing the movie specific stuff.
But like... how much money was there in a Wizard of Oz comic adaption?
@@calvinjluther enough, apparently.

"This must be a red letter day for you." Every day is a red letter day for Superman.
The "Clark shits himself to get out of a meeting" bit nearly had me spray my sanwich across the breakroom table. 😂
I love Jim Shooter throwing in his creation, the Parasite, alongside Doctor Doom like There, those two things are on par with each other.
Ehh..you could say Marvel didn't want Dr Doom outshined by a major DC villain.
@@jC-kc4siHaving Doom meet Darkseid and try siphoning his omega effect using some cosmic contraption would’ve been cool.
Sals voice for spider-man is so funny to me
The only thing missing from this comic is Luke Cage asking Dr. Doom for his money honey.
My comicpop senses are tingling. It's time for new backissues!!
So I understand that the story is trying to paint Superman as a boring Mary sue or whatever but honestly, hearing about Superman using his powers in weird esoteric ways in order to circumvent problems is kinda entertaining.
Despite this books many many many many many flaws, Superman taking hits then talking the Hulk down is solidly on brand.
Saw the title and thought "A Superman/Spider-Man crossover with Doctor Doom?! That could be a really cool story!"
Nuts.
At least it makes for good Back Issues :)
This episode left me with only one thought… NUTS!
I laughed so much. Great episode. Also, would love it if Lex was a fan of the Bugle for its hate pieces on Superman.
I imagine the bugle being a fan of superman because he doesn't were a mask. Just to anoy spiderman
Terrible story, and it's a testament to Sal's storytelling ability that this video is SO FANTASTIC
Now they have to talk about that Wizard of Oz adaptation on the couch one day
You guys, all of you, make every day better! I listen to your Back Issues whenever I'm at home getting stuff done. It's a great way to catch up on comics while also listening to you guys have the time of your lives from either praising the best comics ever, or ripping into some of the dumbest and very questionable decisions made in the industry! You guys are the best!
I wish they would do a modern cannon Spider-Man and Superman story. The two characters are pretty similar in many ways and it would be nice to see the company two mascots together again.
I always liked how Spidey fit in with the archetypes of the Big 2. Superman is Man's best and brightest light, Batman is mastering your flaws, and Spider-Man is a flawed person who tries to be his best and brightest as soon as the mask comes on. I think that trinity would be really great to see in a crossover
I'm sorry I love Superman he's in my top 3 Superhero 1 Batman 2 Spider-Man 3 Superman. Dc Mascot after 1986 and then 100% their mascot by 1989 Is Batman. Superman should be their Mascot the moral center of their universe that everybody looks up to but DC WB is Batobsessed
I would defiantly love to see the current Superman deal with somebody like doom
"So how have you been?"
"Oh, I’m married and have a son now. How about you?"
"…I sold my marriage to the devil and gave up on ever having a daughter."

This might be one of the most unintentionally funny books you guys have ever covered, this has to be the hardest I've laughed at one of your episodes!
Simply fabulous y'all. It's a bit rare seeing Ethan along with Tiffany. Ben's goofiness is always missed when he's absent. Most of these DC/Marvel crossovers could've been real good. What a shame.
I prefer this pairing, perso
I kno sal said this book is bad, this episode might be one of my favorite of the recent ones 😂 never fail to make me laugh
Sal saying, like an old lizard, broke me. 😂
Wife: Wake up honey! New Back Issues just dropped!
Me: Excellent.
I love this! ❤
"Go Fast, Bot furious" A Vin Diesel film coming to theaters next summer.
What a hilarious concept
Go bots are apparently also owned by Hasbro now
A friend of mine asked if I wanted one of his comics because he didn't want it. My jaw hit the floor when he showed up with THIS book. I think It's absolutely delightful.
Man I love Tiff's shirt and hat combo. Aah I so want one for myself.
I love Tiffany's Phoenix t-shirt!
Wait, wait, wait.
When's the episode of Comic Line featuring Sal going deep into the lore of the Fast & Furious franchise? I want that right now.
“NUTS!”
-This book
Can I just say this episode was NUTS! Love the show it's great every week guys!
This crossover between Superman and Spider-Man is tons of fun.
I did not know about the wizard of oz crossover OR the fast and furious drama. That a side, this story is insane! Doctor Doom's character never fails to disappoint.
One word to accurately describe this book’s existence- NUTS!
This book is amazing. Doom never disappoints on the strength of his arrogance alone
Let's take a moment to appreciate Tiffany's fashion sense with the Phoenix tee shirt, the X-Men logo cap and those lovely earrings ❤️

IRON MAN.
Did anyone else besides me notice that Sal’s read for Dr. Doom in this book sounds an awful lot like Seth MacFarlane does when he’s doing the voice for Emperor Palpatine in Robot Chicken? That can’t be a coincidence.
He has a second tube!
Superman shitting himself to leave the room is awesome
It is now in my head canon that Parasite's *Equipment* doesn't work anymore. Thank you ComicPop!
Here's a fun drinking game,
everytime Sal says "Doom" take a 🥃
Probably the creepiest thing about Parasite is that he can tell what superhero is near by their scent and “taste”and it’s explained that he has basically an addiction to the “taste” of Kryptonians specifically Clark.
Excited for this one! I always love it when you guys explore some classic stories. I don't have time to watch tonight, but I'm here to go ahead and like comment and download the episode for my shift at work tomorrow. Love what you guys do! Hope you guys enjoy your vacation next week.
Please, do a back issues on Fantastic Four: Unthinkable, it's a really great Dr. Doom story and Tiffany would love it!
Jim shooter making Spider-man look like a punk while trying to make Superman looks boring is a perfect example of how that man worked as an editor.
At first, I thought him not wanting to buy DC when he had the chance was a rare example of an executiive having core principles but it's actually an extremely common example of an incompetent executive.
Wow what a crossover!? Back issues always brings the goods
The original in comic TV crossover. Respect....I had not even considered the cartoon originally, I was only thinking of the live action Hulk and Wonder Woman TV series.
"A shitty rogue" lol
Sal's attention to Forewords and Afterwords has taught me to actually pay attention to those in non-comic books
Avengers 200, Secret Wars II, now this? Jim Shooter is the gift that keeps on giving.
I wouldn't have thought that a potential Fast & the Furious/Gobots movie would be intriguing, but I can't stop thinking about it now.
But the go bots are also owned by Hasbro now so they might as well be transformers
Another one of my childhood comics on back issues. You articulated my disappointment perfectly.
I am 100% certain that a lot of this conflict could have been solved by throwing some Hostess Fruit Pies.
Ugh...I so badly want them to make a spiderman-dc crossover book that compiles all of these & the batman ones
Fuck, I hate to do this but, Jim Shooter got his start in comics writing for DC, he was 14 years old, this was 1965. Shooters feeling for DC were how Sal described them but, Shooter made his bones in comics writing for DC's Superman and Supergirl, and eventually The Legion of Superheroes, so the man intimately knows DC's super family. BTW he invented Parasyte.
Nice, earned yourselves a sub with this.
GOSH I keep rewatching this and the Superman leaving and Parasite's original origin get me cry laughing every time! I was wondering if Shooter was making him look extra absurd, but apparently he created him!? Why did Jim Shooter create Parasite like this!? He's a fantastic villain in Man of Tomorrow and in an episode of Superman the animated series, not to mention sympathetic in the former!
Oh gosh, he created Parasite for DC *when he was 14.* He says he was inspired by Biology class in 9th grade!
This is a calamity and I want the next crossover to be exactly the same 😂. I'm just imagining Batman watching the whole thing on a monitor.
Ethan just casually quoting Jurassic Park
If I had a nickel for every time Lombard put a sign on my back for striking out with Lana Lang… I’d have 9 nickels.
Just a few days ago i was rewatching the first part and wanted to watch the second one. So then i searched it up and it didn't exist. I was confused as hell and went looking for it. Turns out, Sal just describes this book in an episode for a few minutes but it wasn't a full episode. Glad to see this today, its like deja vu kinda. Nuts.
Word of the Day, brought to you by Aunt May's Wheatcakes:
"NUTS!!!"
Sal this tqkes place in the dark multiverse
As I recall, Clark got away with being a headline news anchor by using Super-Hypnotism on the audience.
Sal is also Comicstorian. Sal can quickly grow a crazy beard, and change his voice. He does this so he can maintain the comic book industrial complex
Hasbro (Transformers' parent company) owns the Gobots as well
I was scrolling through to see if someone said this🤣🤣🤣
Only 30 mins in and i know this ones gonna be hilarious! Top Notch work by comic pop as usual
I love this and I'm going to immediately watch it again 🤣😅
Spider-Man? Doctor Doom? 1:45 runtime? You guys continue to outdo yourselves! Bravo!
1:15:37 -- Tiff with a very Dolly Parton-esque laugh.
Somewhat sounds a little similar to but not that identical.
Is this the nerdiest the couch has ever looked for an episode of Back Issues??
Thanks for the great episode and the Seinfeld references!
Dr. Doom: unleash evil plan: Preparation H!
Doom Bot: Uh, my lord...
Dr. Doom: I mean Operation H!
I’m loving all the Seinfeld references this episode.
It would be very funny to get a Spiderman Superman crossover where the two create a cabal to make their own newspaper company that runs the daily planet and the daily bugle out of business.
One hell of a crazy crossover , I never even heard of this one

Thankfully, my college has the full Crossover Classics vol 1 in their very limited "graphic novels and manga" section. Unfortunately, that means I've read this story. Buckle in folks
It was the first DC and Marvel Crossover.
There were four issues. These were extra large in size. I had all four. At that time I was a teenager. About 13 years old.
