I mean a remake is basically rebuilding the entire game, it took as much work as making a new game, so I agree that it should cost a bit more than a simple remaster, but 70$ is tough. I personally think around 50$ would be appropriate.
Nope. Rebuilding the entire game would mean creating entirely new environments, not making a fancier version of the exact same ones that already existed. This is a cash grab
I noticed there were small details removed from the remake, like when you can actually hear that Runner crying and barely muster how much she doesn't want to kill her victim as she's eating him. Truly haunting & disturbing stuff
Thanks for the reminder! I got the original but I don't normally play scary games so I quit at the hotel basement. The crying was sad since they were still battling the fungus for control over their bodies.
It was worth it to me as I hadn't played it since ps3. Also, I am not the best player of scary games but loved ND since Uncharted was my first return to games since Mario as a child. So I do appreciate all the accessibility options helped with tweaking the AI further. The enemies were very tough for me even on light mode so you can turn down the agressivand the awareness area of the bad guys. People criticising this game for just being a ‘cash grab with better graphics’. Meanwhile phone companies charge $1200 dollars every year for phone with very slightly better cameras and incremental speed boosts and people are all over that. This game cost a lot of money to remaster, and no one has to buy it - just as no one has to buy an iPhone 14 Pro Max or expensive trainers. If you don’t think it’s worth it then you’ve got the PS4 version for $15 dollars so it’s not like you’re being denied anything. I don’t get what the problem is: if you don’t like; don’t buy. I’m gonna wait till it’s cheaper (which is the other option) but I don’t expect them to make it cheap at launch just because I’m a cheap-ass
I like bird photography. I spent almost $4000 on a camera that helps me get the shots I want. I think it is worth it. But someone who takes photos casually, even a $1000 camera would be very expensive and more than likely not worth it. I don't think we should use "Is it worth $70?" to judge a game. Everything has a price. This is a very subjective matter. I played the original back in 2013. I bought the Remake over the weekend. I just started the game, the graphics is absolutely better with way more detail and texture, and the sound effect (like gun fire) was just simply awesome in my 7.1 surround system. The bullets were directional. I was startled when one shot flew past my right ear. The dynamics of the sound is also shocking like glass breaking when a window was shot by a bullet. The story, characters, game play, and the overall package was mind blowing then and still is today. The Remake is now brought to the level of Part II. Now I have a complete set.

I'm lucky to be that kind of gamer that doesn't feel the need to play anything at day one. I had the luck to play and finish The Last of Us on PC (Linux) so, the remaster. And I had the PS3 at that time but I was too much into Uncharted series and other beautiful titles. ;)

It’s worth it for me because if I play the remastered version then play The Last of Us Part 2, jumping from an old design game to an new design game doesn’t feel right. My younger brother told me that The Last of Us Part 3 should be the last chapter of the game series and we also hope it’s another prequel on how everything started.
I don't think people consider the world that these games are set in when looking at Joel, they only see his relationship with Sarah and Ellie and put him on some ridiculous pedestal. I'm still not clear on how a blind person is supposed to play any video game regardless of what features are included. If you're talking about an audio book based on the story then, ok but otherwise how does a blind person aim a virtual gun at virtual enemies or sneak around a house full of clickers. For all their self congratulations and insistence that this isn't another remaster because they built it from the blah blah blah, it is, effectively, a remaster and not a remake. A remake would've included a different interpretation of the story, different levels, maybe even new mo-cap for new cutscenes. What they accomplished here, aside from some new features, is a better looking version of the exact same game. In other words, a fancy remaster. Worth the price of a new game only if you haven't played it already but not for anyone who has experienced this exact same story, wonderful as it may be. And even if it was an actual remake, $70 is too damn expensive. I'll consider buying it if they drop the price to $40. Until then, I'm happy to keep playing the PS4 remaster
Answering your first paragraph, that’s why TLOU part 2/part 1 accessibility tools are so groundbreaking. There are a bunch of options that makes it possible to play the game without using your eyes. Auto-target, audio cues to be able to know when the enemies are going to attack and where they are, weapons can change automatically when it’s necessary, skip puzzles (although some puzzles are able to be solved solely using audio), automatically pick up itens, the game doesn’t let you fall from the edges, the camera helps you to not get lost, the control can vibrate to guide you. It’s 100% possible to beat the game without using you eyesight, a lot of blind people were able to, a lot of non-blind people decided to try to beat it blindfolded and succeeded. It’s basically changing the aspects where your eyesight is necessary for audio or vibration cues. Such a shame that this is the most innovative aspect of the remake, accessibility shouldn’t cost that much, a blind person would need to pay way more for it when the remaster version is cheaper, but not accessible
You didn't need to remake a Masterpiece. I'm so sick of remakes, REmasters, Repatch etc... You're Killing Art. Last of Us is a PS3 Classic. Leave it there. Make something new. You know, if you think it about, latest gen consoles are even more similar to PC hardware. With this premise, it is natural to rebrand their best titles and then make the PC version too. The only issue with Sony is that they don't respect and understand the PC gaming market, fully at least. Otherwise, they would go multiplatform PS5/PC just like Microsoft does from a long time. After this, while waiting for the Part 2, I'll give a shot to Death Stranding.
