Thanks for the project ideas! I'm going into my second semester of Networking and Cyber security and in class I learned briefly about looking for vulnerabilities. I am totally bored over this winter break and I was looking for a way to improve so this video really came at a good time! Could anybody walk me through how to get the metasploitable to work? once i download it, i get a file, but the documents within the file do not open. So I'm kind of stumped
I worked as a Information Security Analyst for about a year and a half, I have bachelor degree in CS and Comptia Sec+. Do you think I spend my time on these projects for my portfolio since I was let go a few weeks ago so I look for a job now or should I focus my time on other certifications like Pentest+ or CEH
Hi, as you have experience already the certifications would only matter if the roles you will be applying for actually require them. If not, then your time will be better spent up-skilling with projects.
How to show Cybersecurity projects to employer? I mean do we document our finding in a pdf or what? Like in web dev, you can upload your code to github and deploy the website.
how should such documentation look like? would it be enough writing about potential vulnerabilities, my aproach to fix it, what and how I did it, what did work and what didn't etc. ?@@imentor__

Hi, there is a few ways you can do this but the best is probably to have a separate section titled “Personal Projects” where you can detail out what you’ve undertaken. This should come after your education and work experience. Try to summarise the main objective of the project and list the skills you gained from undertaking it.
I created an account with Qualys just so i could benefit from their free trainings but when i log in, the page remains blank. Please can you help me out? Thanks in advance.
how did you done all 3? i don't understand what he means by building a siem. are we supposed to write a siem software from scratch or not? if so, i cannot because i literally sucks at coding.
@hanlinnzaw4022 you don’t need to start from scratch. You can install SIEM software and play around with it very easily without needing to know coding e.g. wazuh.com

Hi, yes they are! Knowing how to build/configure a SIEM is a really good skill for security engineering.

You can also create a CyberSecurity GitHub portfolio where you document everything you undertook.

Hi, yes but make sure you put more emphasis on the output & report as thats what is important in GRC roles.
Believe it or not I have done all 3 :P but great ideas! I recommend everybody to try them out and gain the skills to put them on their resume

@@imentor__ My interest actually lies in two areas in Cybersecurity: Identity & Access Management (IAM) , and Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC).
