- In this episode of the film ‘Had Anhad’ we venture into the village of Pugal in Rajasthan, to meet with the breathtaking Sufi folk singer - Mukhtiyar Ali and his family - and in the process we learn a thing or two about how the Sufi experience relates with Kabir, Ram and the Beloved.
Kabir was a 15th century bhakti poet of north India who defied the boundaries between Hindu and Muslim. He had a Muslim name and upbringing, but his poetry repeatedly invokes the widely revered Hindu name for God - Ram. Who is Kabir’s Ram? The film ‘Had Anhad’ journeys through song and poem into the politics of religion, and finds a myriad answers on both sides of the hostile border between India and Pakistan.
Had Anhad is one of 4 films made by Shabnam Virmani, entitled ‘Journeys with Kabir’, the others being ‘Koi Sunta Hai’, ‘Chalo Hamara Des’ & ‘Kabira Khada Bazaar Mein’. Shabnam is a filmmaker, singer and director of the Kabir Project, located at the Srishti School of Art, Design & Technology in Bangalore, India.
Mukhtiyar Ali is a extraordinary performer of Sufiana kalaam and Bhakti songs from the village of Pugal, in the western most part of the state of Rajasthan in India. He belongs to the Mirasi community, whose traditional occupation has been to sing, and has imbibed the tradition from his own father and elders. Today he is a highly versatile artist, collaborating with many contemporary musicians such as Vasundhara Das and Mathias Duplessy. For the Kabir Project team however, Mukhtiyar ji remains the fiesty singer we met in Pugal, who’s music blew our minds, and whose understanding of Kabir was honest, clear and from the heart!

You could have just watched and listened to this instead of mentioning any religion in your comment. We all know what is going on in every other corner of India. Fanatics are losing their mind day by day..and be afraid, because they are in majority. Not everybody out there is Mukhtiyar Ali Ji.

ہمارے دل کے چاہنے سے غلط صیح اور صیح غلط نہیں ہوسکتا. اگر میرا دل چاہے کہ کسی کو مار ڈالوں تو کیا آپ اسے درست کہیں گے؟
میں نے اس سارے پروگرام کو بڑے غور سے دیکھا ہے. میں مسلمان ہوں اور پیشہ کے لحاظ سے پروفیسر ہوں. اسلام کا اگر دوسرا نام ہوتا تو وہ روحانیت ہوتا. ﷲ جسے ہم اپنا رب مانتے ہیں وہ ہمیں 5 وقت نماز پڑھنے کو کہتا ہے. نماز ان دعاؤں کو کہتے ہیں جو ہم ﷲ کے سامنے روبرو ہو کر مانگتے ہیں. یعنی hotline پر دن میں 5 بار اس سے بات کرتے ہیں.
ﷲ تعالیٰ سے دعا ہے کہ مجھ سمیت تمام انسانوں کو صیح رستہ دکھائے، وہ رستہ جو اس کا پسندیدہ ہو اور اس کے رسول محمد صلی ﷲ علیہ وسلم کا بتایا ہوا ہو، آمین ثم آمین. مختیار کو اسلام کے بارے میں آگاہی کم ہے.

He is interpreting the words of Kabir
He's not talking about any malik sitting up in sky... He is talking about the ब्रह्मन् or ब्रह्म which recites within you... Nothing somewhere out.

For those who don't know much about "mirasi" community ...mirasi is a community living in western rajasthan and from thousands years they r singing and still keeping d ancient Rajasthani folk music alive

These are the people called real Hindustani.Sufism is quite logical and loveable way to believe in a Supreme Being. This school of thought is capable to contain people of other sects and beliefs in a nonviolent approach. That inspires to search relation between soul and Creator. But those who are busy to peruse literal meaning of holy books, in fact they are incapable to up hold wider angel for their limited understanding regarding God. They often criticize idol worshipers and people of other religions. But the very book they believe in, read and memorize, do not understand. So what is the deference?
It's just a second face of jihad. Just took all thoughts from advait vedanta from upanishdas and just added the word Allah/malik/khuda in it. Just a way to convert people. Remains of jain, shiva and shakta temples are now found during the archeological excavations done by DK SHARMA under the city FATAHPUR SIKRI, build for Sheikh Salim Chishti, biggest sufi saint of india, and a so called "LOVE PREACHER"
