- I'm on a shopping spree at Bass Pro Sops! My spring time choices are topwater , worms, swimjigs, Chatterbaits and flipping. The proper hooks and lines are chosen as well! Big giant Florida bass are bitting golden shiners so special circle hooks are needed also!

I remember the early days of Tournament fishing: I live on Wheeler Lake on the Tennesse River. Very simple, with few lures, now there is a bazillion of everything. Bass fishermen never had it so good. Awesome evolution. Roland Martin inspired me to tournament fish. I poured and made my own spinnerbaits and jigs all these years. WORMS JIGS SPINNERBAITS are my all-time winners. Oh, I am 71 years young. Thanks, Roland.

I met him once in Ft Myers BPS. I was shopping on vacation and we were in the same aisle. It was great talking to him and only wished I got a picture with him.
@andy pincince local place where I live. We fish the same water and go to the same stores etc. I parked next to his truck at the boat ramp last week

I have been watching you and learning how to fish from you since my teens.
T have learned a whole bunch about bass fishing from you.
I grew up on the Texas Gulf coast and was watching you fish and how you fished ,when all but a couple of my school mates were salt water fishing.
Kevin and myself and Krebbs, fished ponds and small lakes around the area until we found lake Sam Rayburn and Toledo Bend. They were hopping back then. Falcone and lake Fork were not on my radar as of yet.
Then life happened went to work all over the country, Idaho where I caught giant cutthroat and rainbows around Lava Hot Springs. (no bass)
Then I ended up in Southern California ,I read and watched Mike Folkstead and learned new and very strange to me at the time ways to fish clear water bass .However when in Rome. I learned quite a bit about these southern California bass ..(NOT ENOUGH)
You are still and will always be "THE GREAT AMERICAN FISHERMAN" and I thank you so much.

I really appreciate you doing a video like this as fishing for me has been a bit tough. I live a bit south of where your son scott lives and it's been rough on the pond. I do have to say though that I agree that shiner fishing is better but I don't get the sporty feeling out of it. I like to try different techniques and use different lures and try to get the biggest fish. Shiners I feel are great to get kids into fishing and of course are the best way to catch fish but I feel like it's "Cheating".
Thanks for confirming my suspensions on Gamakastu making the Bass Pro hooks. I swore they were made by them and no one believed me lol.

Great info Roland! I just wish that I had an unlimited budget heading into a BPS! $7+ for 1 lure and you get 4! How about this, go shopping in there and act like a normie. Use a hand basket and pick out $30 worth of lures that we (normies) could use to catch these quality fish! Keep up the great content!

The extra heavy hooks i could use them for the river I fish every spring I end up hooking a musky while fishing for walleye end up straighting out my hook .

My thing with soft plastics is they've got outrageous. You can buy a hard bait for $5-$10 bucks have it for 20 years. But soft plastics you get 5 for $10 bucks they're gone half a fishing trip. It's kinda ridiculous really . But I guess it is what it is I'm still gonna buy every color every brand every critter and lug three bags with 400 packs of soft plastics every where I go and only fish one style one color . Lol I always liked culprit cause you got 20 worms for $3-5 bucks according to where you get them.
Suggestion: Go for ElaZtech soft plastics; each one can get bit dozens of times without getting wrecked. Examples: the ZMAN Hella CrawZ, Savage Gear Duratech Toad, Strike King Z Too.
I hope he really is not paying. The manager should come greet him at the door and say thanks Roland for doing all you do. Whatever you want!!

Roland I have to ask you a question, Do you really like Favorite Rods? I don’t have any but they seem to be a CZcams sponsor trying to get fisherman that really don’t fish much to buy their products. Just saying, when you see the Googans using them I really can’t see how they are much for quality. JMHO. I used an ugly stick for years before I started using a Lews rod. To be honest I usually try and keep it under $100 on my rods. But have gave a good look at the favorites but I always seem to go with the Lews over it.

Do you see what fishing does for you? Roland Martin looks no different than he did in the 1990's. I've been a fan since the 1970's and it just don't get much better than Roland.
Those gary senko baits are the worst baits I have ever bought, absolute trash, they fall apart almost immediately from hooking them, they do not hold up well at all especially for the price, never again!
