    Sorry if the audio on this video sounds wonky. I realized that recording in a small room means that there's a bit of an audio issue. I'll likely be upgrading my mic soon and moving my recording space, so expect an audio shift eventually! Along with this, I'd like to let you all know that I'm going to make the conscious effort to put out two videos a month. Yay! As always, if you have any ideas, I'd LOVE to hear them!

    I want to make a Lemon plush when I get the free time! :3 This is good advice, I always double check with my commissioners on fabric color, markings, etc. When people commission me I tend to only get a single picture with only one view. Also, I do want to mention on the ref sheet, where you put "cheap" on the rainbow gill part you might want to put "cheat" or something to that extent. As a plush artist I would feel I had to hand sew the colors together because I cheaped out going with rainbow shag or something similar.

    • @Candycrave
      @Candycrave  Před 7 lety +19

      Haha, I'd love to see it!
      It's referred to as "cheaping" because labor costs money and it /is/ cheaper to use a rainbow fabric as opposed to sewing the colors in one-by-one :)

    Oooh this so prefect for not just For Plush commission,but also for 3D modeling. I have seen so many people who ask my friend to make thier OCs with out a Ref sheet for him to use,he ending up to turn down their request due to badly made Ref sheet or just a picture of the OCs. As I do agree for the fact, simple art style does help out for the person doing your plushies and showing all views in places that they normally can't see or following style that have same body type, exmple: MLP.
    As artist who done these type Ref sheet for others to work with my characters. They help alot with what they have and wear, the colours, furs and so on. So a simple Ref Sheet showing all view is great to understand what your OCs are.
    Love the video by the way.

    I just started making plushies and im honestly shocked at my self, They are small but enough to hold in the palm of both hands and im proud since im going to be taking commissions for them! hopefully, the plushie's legs and tail as well as ears are poseable. My plushies would also have a scent of the commissioners choice so yeet!! so my plushies are not really priced since im not sure how much they would be but im leaning with about 10$ depending how many details but if it has about 3-5 colors its 12$ if its about 1-2 colors i would say 8$ and if its more then 5 i would say 15$ but im not sure do you think thats good? I also use minky fabric and fur for hair tail or anything fluffy including chest

    I really appreciate how well spoken you are, and as a person who commonly needs to speak on very technical topics in a concise, simplified and meaningful way. It isn't as easy as people make it out to be. I'm doing a presentation to retired NASA personel/engineers on agriculture on Mars, so this video is a good reference for how a technical presentation should be done. Because, not all engineers know what phytoremediation, soil microbes and ectomycorhizal fungi are.
    Personally, in regards to making a plush: even though I suck at sewing, I'd rather find a way to make my own. Who knows, I might get good at it!

    @candycrave I really love your videos on plushies and commissions. BUT I need some advice.... I recently got a custom commission on a Pokemon plush. The person (on etsy) seemed to have done Pokemon prior and I saw some plushies at a trade show. Went through etsy and waited patiently (no updates but I'm fine with that) When I got my plush though... it was a train wreck. It was nothing like I thought it would be, it came with holes and the nose was not lined up. (the nose was two parts sewed into one and one half was sideways) and it was not the same level of craft as I was expecting. It honestly looked like a joke. What is the best way to approach this? Especially since this person now has my address.

      Hi there! First of all, I'm really sorry you had a bad experience with a freelance artist. This is why I usually tell people to do their research, because at the end of the day, you're handing off your money to a virtual stranger. Now, it looks like you did your research, which is great! Unfortunately, there are some red flags here you should've seen early on in the commission process.
      The fact that they didn't provide you with WIPs meant that there was more margin for error, because you could not point out the faults in your commission since they were never brought up to you. In the future, consider pressing your artist for WIPs, most freelancers will be happy to provide them, unless they're deliberately attempting to scam you.
      Now, you can't file a Paypal dispute because you did get the product you paid for, but I know Etsy has a built-in review system. Unfortunately, all you can really do is leave a review reflecting your commission experience so that others don't fall victim to the bad business practices you were subjected to. I'm not sure if Etsy has a dispute system, so I'd look into that, if possible! If the artist cares about their image and brand, they WILL work with you to correct the problem. I'm so sorry you had a bad experience with a freelancer, please make sure to do thorough research and potentially contact previous customers next time! Commissioning freelancers is GREAT, but it can be a gamble.

    Is this an acceptable description for a company? I'm thinking about adding more detail, and I'm including a reference sheet. o:
    Kanh has a very round head with two catlike ears on the top. The ears are rounded off and next to them are small, light yellow horns which are also round at the top. Her limbs are stub-like and have no fingers or toes. She has a tail and it is very thin, ending with three points at the end of it. The rest of her body other than the horns is a lilac/light purple (including two small wings that are the same color). She has a very simple face with two stretched black ovals for eyes, a small circle nose, and a smile attached to it. If it's possible, could you attach a small bit of fluff to the ends of her ears?
    Thank you for your time,
    Kylie.

    While I'm not a furry but I really enjoy your video. very helpful as I am coming back to sewing and hopefully taking commissions from it, I was thinking of taking one of those bootleg plushes and tear them up to get a pattern of it. I'm not sure since I got some bootlegs plushes at home.

    I might commission a plush of my fursona Serj, he's a Dutch angel dragon so it might be hard to make but I guess that's fine..

    Not all of this is completely true: just look at the review of budsies sally acorn plush that one is amazing!
    I think the most important is discribe your character as detailed as possible so they cant miss any important detail.
    But its also important to show every important detail on your drawing.
    Also very important show your character from every angle: frontview, sideview, and backview.

    I have a question
    My fursona is a feral dragon, how well would that translate into both a reference sheet and plush?

    • @Candycrave
      @Candycrave  Před rokem +1

      I've done a feral dragon reference sheet before! I'd say do a side profile as it hits all the important details of the character. Maybe a front & back shot if there's important markings on the chest / snout / haunches. I recommend checking out Creep Cat Toys. They did a series of Wings of Fire inspired plush that may be good inspiration? They're laying on their tummies with their legs splayed out which I think is a super cute pose for feral dragons.

    GUYS PLEASE READ THIS IF YOU WHANT A BUDSIE I MADE A MISTAKE THAT I DONT WANT YOU TO MAKE THAT I NEVER HERD ANYONE IN VIDEOS LIKE THIS WORN YOU ABOUT
    If you have a very special color on your budsie(s) just know that they might not have the color you will probably have to choose a different color on your ref sheet and the description you will send them my budsie had the color orchid (purple pink mix) on her and I regret putting it on my ref sheet they sent me a message that they didn't have the color that fit my description asking if I wanted it in pink or purple instead I didn't see the message til 4 days later and I sent them saying that I wanted it purple I must have been too late because she came out pink I love her and I love her colors I don't want her redone I love her just the way she is but I just don't want anybody else to make the mistake and get angry at them giving them a bad review thank you so much for reading this

    • @Candycrave
      @Candycrave  Před 6 lety

      My section on color matching starts at 8:05. I recommend asking for color swatches next time you look into commissioning a plush. This is a mistake I see that's very frequently made when commissioning plushes and it's so easily avoidable. Budsies is also a company, please keep in mind that they won't be able to wait on responses. I recommend commissioning a freelancer in the future if you know that you can't deliver feedback in a speedy manner.
