Kaufman should have been hired to train the heels on how to bring the heat. Fans in Tennessee wanted to kill Kaufman, not figuratively, literally! Challenging all of the women in the auditorium, genius! 😂
Totally! I don't think there has been someone from the outside of wrestling, before or since, who got it so perfectly well and as fast as Kaufman did. We've had celeb guests who have been able to work a match athletically speaking, think Stephan Amell, Floyd Mayweather, etc, but in terms of character and getting heat, Andy, hands down.
Memories my lord..I'm 75 yo and 1 of the Young ladies in the 1st round was my girlfriend..I didn't know about it till the next Saturday TV show they showed clips of his matches and boom there she was..I laughed so hard of course she lost but what an experience for. HER...I going to see if I can find her to let her know this is on you tube..
@issy_b_onair Me too but his wrestling with women ... for me it's hard to understand. Andy was sweet and a bit crazy in some ways. No reason not to love him.
@@issy_b_onair Dear issy_b_onair, I thought so anyway. This was also mentioned in the movie "Man on the Moon". Yes, of course, but he would have rejected me because of my small size and weight. 🤔 I was no challenge for him. 😸 AND, how could you wrestle with somebody towards whom you have no trace of anger? 😹
@@issy_b_onair Dear issy_b_onair, I suspected that from the beginning. 😺 Of course I would have liked to wrestle him for fun, but I was too small and too thin for him, so no challenge. Besides, how can you wrestle with someone you don't have a trace of anger towards? 😹
Male wrestler? Andy Kaufman was the most courageous, iconoclastic entertainer of his day. None of the comedians today has one tenths the balls that this guy had.
Kaufman a complete and total legend in comedy walks in naively to the Mid South locker room and becomes the only crossover act that truly "got it" and drew real money. It's as if Jordan breezed pass triple A ball, straight to the majors and hits 30 home runs in his rookie season. Props to Lawler for giving Andy his due when it came to where the angle lead. Lawler was a charismatic force of nature that succeeded and drew in spite of his own insipid, shoe string budget booking, not because of it. You just knew it was more of Andy's stuff in the angle.
So glad wrestling is back on top of the wrestling world . Best locker room ever !! Best talent all around , great stories great rivalries I love everything about the new WWE TRIPLE H THANK YOU FOR GIVING THE TALENT SO MUCH TRUST AND LOVE ❤️ watching from Germany 🇩🇪
unfortunately where i was as a kid, we didn't get the chance to watch memphis wrestling TV, but i found what i could online later on, it was a great show from that 80's time period

It's so crazy. Imagine if there actually was a man that only wanted to compete against woman in sports. If there was an entitled man who actually believed it was his right to compete against only woman and beat them. That's why wrestling is great because its just so over the top. Obviously in something real like swimming or weightlifting something like this would never happen.
You haven't heard of this? In 1999 Jim Carrey played him in a movie called "Man on the moon" it's about his life but a good portion is about his wrestling, so... Did you also not know him and Lawler went on Letterman after this and let Andy was wearing a neck brace getting in Lawlers face threatening to sue and Lawler slapped him out of his seat, it was huge news because a lot of people still believed wrestling was real and even if not it seemed real AF, Lawler played himself in the movie, it's one of my favourites.
He did a comedy special at a very large venue in New York … had the crowd screaming at him. Took them all out for milk and cookies afterward. He was brilliant
In the US? Watch #TalesFromTheTerritories here: bit.ly/TALESFROMTHETERRITORIES

100% of those audiences believed every ounce of what Kaufmann was doing. Just genius
Man as a Memphian and an old man I remember watching these when they came out it was great, still great rip andy

Andy was one of those once in a lifetime performers
What a great moment in time. Thanks for this.
yessirrrr, Vince Sr. didn’t see the attraction of their rivalry but Vince Jr. LOVED what Jerry and Andy were doing in Memphis
It makes my heart swell w glee seeing people talking and interested in AK in 2023. ❤😊

He was the intergender champion pal.....definitely a male wrestler if you know anything about wrestling entertainment
I agree. Great Comedian and Actor.
@sandrashevel2137 most great wrestlers have to be comedians and actors.....andy had it
Speaking as a huge Andy fan, the closest thing to a successor he has is Sacha Baron Cohen
@@troy801 I'm a fan of them both. I wonder if Mr. Cohen thinks of himself this way.
Years before Borat and Ali G, there was Latka and Tony Clifton
Foxy had a decent double leg lol
Jerry Lawler was excellent on the Letterman show fighting with Andy 🤪
Greatest artist of all time.

Andy Kaufman: Legend
This man is a legend!
Ali took boxing out of the bars and pool halls.. Andy brought wrestling to tv on a world wide scale.
Golden stories.
Vince Sr. could have had Andy.
Before Jim Carrey, Sacha Baron Cohen, Werid Al, pranksters. There was Andy Kauffman.
That title is better
Long Live King Andy's legacy... Imagine if they allowed MJF or another great heel to go this ham? LOL
Andy lived to troll people and then one day he realized that a pro wrestling heel is the greatest troll job in the world. 😊
Only Andy knows the real truth.
is kris noveselic is andy nephew
I'm sure these comments are going to be super peaceful and not transphobic and there won't be any arguments at all
transphobic lol. doesn’t exist.
It's a comedy bit. If anyone's taking this seriously then they're not very bright. Why would anyone be talking about gay and trans stuff on here??
I fucking loved their rivalry and Andy Kaufman could beat any woman on this world if he were here today
So far you’re literally the only one here commenting on trans people. 😂

Interesting how Andy Kaufman’s kayfabe attitude towards women is now generally endorsed by the Christian right 👀

The 70’s kid in me loves this!
Ever heard of GCW?

Poor Andy Got Lost In His Own Mind. Nothing makes better TV than a Rassling Villain.
I guess you could say, Kaufman was a pioneer of transwomen entering female sports. He predicted the future. XD
Andy was a beautiful troll
