And this is the woman that megyn kelly tried to put down? Jane Fonda is a force to reckon.
Andrea Mendenhall and you saw kelly run after her further after that embarrassing interview? Way to jump from plastic surgery to jane fonda’s vietnam fiasco. Which by the way jane had apologised for multiple times. What exactly has kelly done for the world?
Jay Millena megyn kelly is fake she doesn’t reach to bane Fonda ass :::: this is one classy lady ..
Andrea Mendenhall plastic ... good for her she looks great
Yea hanoi jane is such a hero
She and her brother are entitled Hollywood brats
She's always classy.
A class of privileged, elitist, left-wing loons.
@@manofiske3318 She wasn't so classy sitting on that anti-aircraft gun
Even though she was nervous, Fonda did a great job of articulating the plight of workers fighting for a far wage. Jane Fonda is amazing.
@Vlavitir glutginskiya That is a lie.
She is a traitor..
LOVE her!! She's an incredible person with an incredible legacy. I just adore that lady!!
Some legacy. I guess a lot of you are just to young to remember that Fonda is a traitor to the US and her actions directly effected the POW's and the moral of this Nation, or you just don't care. My Father spent 7 1/2 years being starved and tortured for this Country, and Fonda said during the war that the POW's were being well treated and later after the POW's returned, she said that they were lying when they said that they were tortured in Vietnam. I remember as a kid how that hurt and effected me. I guess most don't remember the photo of her sitting on the sam launcher that brought down and killed American aviators or the way she willingly spread propaganda for the enemy. My Father is dead now, his life probably cut short due to the treatment he received as a prisoner of war. I wish you all could have seen the scars on his body from the torture. Or the fact that he was mostly deaf in one ear from being boxed in the ear repeatedly during torture sessions, a minor thing in comparison to the ropes and having his arms pulled out of their sockets, ribs cracked or being thrown into and forced to stand in an open pit of urine and feces where the POW's emptied their buckets/ toilets. At one point during his captivity he went from his normal weight of 165 to 90 pounds. He got rickets and berry berry. That happens when you are only fed daily; two cups of water and two cups of rice, a piece of moldy bread OR a bowl of flavorless pumpkin soup; which consisted of pumpkin, water and the occasional cockroach, or as my Dad called it "protein". Oh, and let me not fail to mention another POW, who was in my Father's and two other POW's presence, when he had a rag shoved down his throat with a bayonet by the guards and he was dragged away out of his cell after around five years of captivity. He was never seen alive again. He died at the hands of the North Vietnamese due to their mistreatment. He left behind a Wife, Son and Daughter. Some say Fonda is remorseful for her past behavior or that she apologized at some point. If she did it was only to help her career. And it was too little, too late anyway. She never apologized to me, my Brother or my Mother and Father for the pain that she caused us. She never apologized to my Friend's Family who's Father was killed. Traitors should be hung, shot by firing squad or at least sent to live in the other Country that they praised so much and were traitors for. I for one will never forgive or forget, I can't. It is unfortunate that Stephen Colbert, whom I love, has forgotten or doesn't care. Even if it had cost him his job, which it wouldn't, he should have refused to have her on.
Sandra S How do you feel about Nixon subverting Johnson’s peace talks in ‘68?
Sandra S
I’m 63 years of age and I believe Jane Fonda over Richard Nixon and J. Edgar Hoover any day. So no I’m not to young.
In no way am I denying that many Americans did their duty and faithfully served their country, their honorable service will always be held in the highest esteem by me. Nor am I defending Jane Fonda’s action which she herself has admitted was a mistake and has apologized for. At the end of the war it was estimated at most there 2,500 prisoner of war, with the realistic number being 600. 591 were returned to the US. The others were really KIA, MIA, etc. Nixon inflated these for political purposes. 58,000 Americans died in this war. A war that just about every president knew was a lost cause. Governments at their best are made to protect their people from enemies both foreign and domestic. So who was the true enemy of the people? The one who visited Vietnam to see what was going on or the ones who sent thousands to their deaths? As far as POWs go we washed our hands of ours by turning them over to South Vietnam where they were treated as criminals, where they were tortured, maimed, and killed. War is hell. Period. Atrocities will happen on both sides no matter what. For prolonging this war for political purposes against the good of the people should have resulted in treason charges against Nixon and many others.
She WAS sleeping with the enemy while our boys starved in the Hanoi Hilton. That is a fact. But isn’t America about redemption? We can all be better, right?
😆
Seems like when it comes to Presidents wasting resources on personal vendettas, not much has changed.
Well said,
I know, RIIIGGGGHHHT?!!
And arguably for the most-powerful job on this Planet..
How.. terroristic is THAT?!!!!!!!!
I Love you STILL, Jane Fonda - I'm a Vietnam Veteran who is so grateful for your efforts. Thank you is not enough - but its all I have, so with that in mind I give you my ALL.
P.S. - No regrets, just love...
...so sad that you think this way. So very sad...
Woah. She actually understands the shit I have to put up with waiting tables.
She made us all better! Thank you so much for your life of integrity and courage.
Don’t apologize, Jane. You were right about Vietnam!
No she wasn't.
Supporting the communist takeover of a nation is pure evil
She’s not apologizing, just clarifying about that one photo.
WPH yep
YAAAWWWNNN..
Poor fundie loser, "@@manofiske3318"!
Um... whether or not the war was ok doesn't mean that it was ok for her to say that our POWs who were being tortured should be tried for murder and executed... she said extremely damaging things about our troops. She's lucky she even had a career after it.
Such a courageous woman. So glad to be alive at her time.
I just LOVE her, I love everything about her, and I particularly love everything that she stands for! That's one life being well spent in making a difference in the world!
Inspiring..... Not everyone in her position would have done what she did. Such a brave woman.
Said the NVA
@@y2m226 Hehe, probably true..... Still brave tho.
Y2M The NVA (and VVAW and VFP) were RIGHT. After the MURDEROUS COUP we staged in INDONESIA (installing Suharto) - Vietnam had lost EVEN its strategic significance. So by the time she did that - we should have been cutting bait - already.
I agree with you 100 %. That war was goddamn pointless but I wouldn't make speeches for the NVA. I didn't want us dicking around in Indochina in the first place but the French you know
There's being against the war (fine) and being a propaganda PAWN of the enemy (NOT fine). It's well documented how she LIED about the torture her own countrymen were enduring. Thats just unforgivable in my book.

Sandra S I feel for your dad, and yes Fonda should and does have some regrets over what she did, I feel that most of your ire should be directed towards the politicians and arms manufacturers that sent your dad into harms way. Vietnam was an unjust war, just like Iraq, but politicians and the arms manufacturers (who own the politicians) will never stop putting people like your father into harms way until we stand up and fight against them.
I am sorry for your loss. Your line of thinking, however, and I am sorry to tell you that, is just wrong. From ethical point of view and logical. Your father, you say, died because of his experience of being a POW, but it isn't Fonda's fault, not directly at least.
But even if it was. Let's assume it was. Human life is priceless. Its vaulue is unappraisable, therefore no amount of her saying sorry would ever be enough for your loss. That's why it is our human duty to forgive, because we understand that for some acts we will never be able to receive equally meaningful compensation.
Your thoughts come from anger and depair after a loss and this is reasonable, but blaming others and wishing them death, because of these very strong and sad emotions that you're obviously feeling right now is just plain wrong and also inhumane. Let me remind you that she was cleared of the charges of treason. There were soldiers, prisoners she met in Vietnam, who corroborated her innocence. For her other stupid acts she did say sorry, but as I said, no amount of sorry will probably ever feel enough for you.
I hope you find your peace, because obviously you're going through a lot and I also hope you learn to forgive, because this world can only get better if we learn not only how to be genuinely sorry, but also genuinely forgive.

Things that are copied and pasted over and over do not help the point, it belabors it.
Sandra S This is the great divide. Some people say law before truth and equality. The others say ‚we must fight for laws that are compatible with equality and humanity‘. And yes, plastic surgery. But she still looks like herself which very few people in showbiz manage at her age. And her self is beautiful inside and out.

"... for your country"... no, not for your country, for the political egos of a number of men. Fonda was a voice against that, she did nothing other than publicise and vocalise the deceit and conceit at the time. It isn't that "we" have forgotten or don't care, it's that we can see what was actually happening rather than what we were being told was happening. Who are the actual traitors? The people that sent your father to that place to die? Or the voice against that?
It's beri-beri btw.

3:48 >>> Fonda's father Henry was an avid beekeeper and her brother Peter played one in _Ulee's Gold_ (1997)
Let's be clear about this much. The protests against the war in Vietnam _started_ with our _troops._
Bull Shit
@@arnoldbanner4742 First, boy now. You really know how to paint with words.
Second, why is this so hard to believe? You think our GI's were _enjoying_ Vietnam? Vietnam was a rich man's war, but a poor man's fight. The propaganda machine persuaded us, for more than a decade, to believe that if our troops came home, it would lead to the fall of the US, but they finally came home, it didn't have this effect, and we saw the lie in this.
Third, it might occur to you that I didn't just pull this out of my ass. There's are reasons we don't just pick random countries and invade, and a number of these reasons were missing with Vietnam. This is chronicled in the documentary _Sir! No Sir! The suppressed story of the GI movement to end the war in Vietnam,_ which it appears you have not seen.
Now the appropriate response, when someone asserts a conclusion you disagree with is to ask how they figure it, instead of just presuming that they didn't.

Being against stupid war is not a treason. Not wanting your fellow citizens to die in some proxy war for nothing is a real patriotism.
@Red Wave thanks for the diagnose, doctor... Poisonous algae? Aunty Flo? Oh, sorry, my bad, Red Wave 🙂.
Opposing a (yes) stupid war is one thing. Making yourself a puppet of enemy combatants... No way. That's treason. I'm a liberal Democrat but that was a goddamn crime
Was she trying to do the right thing when she said the POW's were being "well treated" during the war and after they returned she said that they were "liars" when they said they were tortured?! Should I get over it that she was saying my Father was a liar? Should my friend's Family get over it that the Vietnamese killed their Father when he was a POW with their good treatment? I'll get over it after she is dead.
Red Wave, At least she went to Vietnam, more than can be said for Donnie Bonespurs!
I'm a liberal but I completely disagree with what she did in the vietnam war. Traveling to North vietnam is one thing. Opposing the war is one thing. Not supporting the troops is one thing... But going to North Vietnam the way she did, as more of a supporter than an observer, sitting in the aa guns that shot down bombers and jets crewed by Americans like her, going on Hanoi radio to call the soldiers war criminals... that's not activism...
Thank you Jane............. I love you..........
Jane (The Great) has really done the Hero's Journey throughout her life- she has ALWAYS used her celebrity status to help her fellow man when she did not have to.
marcco44 How correct.
marcco44 No she hasn’t. In Vietnam she accused soldiers of war crimes and treason for murder omg innocent citizens. Sandra S - I guess you're too brainwashed to remember the current Republican White House occupant is an openly subservient traitor to the Russia - a country that not only continues to attack the US grid, but the Traitor-in-Chief REFUSES to protect the United States of America. The days of rightwingers pretending to be patriotic are self-evidently laughable!
For a second I thought that read gorgeous and I almost burst out laughing
AJ Arcady Why are you using a trumpster technique and making this a "whatabout" argument? Aren't you better than that? Sandra made NO reference to Trump or being right wing at ALL. Why do you assume that just because she dislikes a woman who LIED about the condition of her own country's imprisoned soldiers, she must be a "brainwashed" trump supporter? Where is the evidence of that?
I'm as liberal as they come and I can't stand Fonda either. Was Vietnam a bad war? Of course. Was America wrong? Of course. But does that mean you go and side with the enemy against your own soldiers? No. Those soldiers being imprisoned did NOT decide to invade Vietnam. They did NOT give the orders. They were draftees in most cases for fucks sakes. Enabling the torture of those men by lying on behalf of the NVA is unforgivable. She is a traitor to her country plain and simple. There were many ways to oppose the war FROM HOME. Without making yourself into a propaganda tool of the enemy. Being against the war is totally fine and was indeed the right position to hold. Joining the enemy side is 100% NOT FINE. Would you be ok with someone going and doing what she did back then over in Afghanistan nowadays? Joining up with the taliban/ISIS and saying the shit she said? Disrespecting thousands of American dead? Spreading their propaganda? It's unthinkable. And I'm very disappointed Stephen would give her the time of day.

Really! look at the submental platysma plasy incision scar, really has not healed well, far too much tension on the chronologically aged skin of Ms Fonda. However, for an 80-year-old, she really has not given up on life which has to be commended !
The difference between Fonda and Trump? Jane went to Vietnam.
Perfect!
@wimmisky , did you get dropped on your head as a child? Educate yourself, you buffoon. Jane was trying to STOP THE WAR.
You are deranged.
joeyconservative yup and they’re both commies 😂😭💯❤️✔️
Oh my god! 😂
She's been in front of a camera for decades. She a pro at it. I have NEVER seen this lioness nervous & jumpy before. Something's up.
I don't think it's nerves. I think it's pent up outrage over having someone as destructive and incompetent as IQ45 in the Oval Office. I feel the same way.
She’s 80! She may have a little palsy showing up. It didn’t hurt Katherine Hepburn any!
I Loooooove Jane Fonda👉😍😍😍😍😍😍😍my inspiration👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I love Jane, have for many years.
I'm so tired of people who are either to young to remember that Fonda is a Traitor to the US and her actions directly effected the POW's, their Families and the moral of this Nation, or they just don't care. My Father spent 7 1/2 years being starved and tortured for this Country, and Fonda said during the war that the POW's were being "well treated" and later after the POW's returned, she said that they "were lying" when they said that they were tortured in Vietnam. I remember as a kid how that hurt and effected me. I guess most don't remember the photo of her sitting on the sam launcher that brought down and killed American aviators or the way she willingly spread propaganda for the enemy; or they think that was good anti-war behavior, or they just don't care. My Father is dead now, his life probably cut short due to the treatment he received as a prisoner of war. I wish you could have seen the scars on his body from the torture. Oh, and let me not fail to mention another POW, who was in my Father's and two other POW's presence, when he had a rag shoved down his throat with a bayonet by the guards, causing difficulty breathing and he was dragged away out of his cell after around five years of captivity. He was never seen alive again. He died at the hands of the North Vietnamese due to the "good treatment" they gave. He left behind a Wife, Son and Daughter. I guess we all should "just get over it". Some say Fonda is remorseful for her past behavior or that she apologized. If she did it was only to help her career. And it was too little, too late. She never apologized to me, my Brother or my Mother and Father for the pain that she caused us. She never apologized to my Friend's Family who's Father was killed in captivity. I am so tired of people praising and loving Fonda. It rubs salt in the wound. I for one will never forgive or forget, I can't.
"He had better things to focus on...." than me... Yeah, that kinda mirrors today... Trump could be concentrating on truly making the country great, but no... he's too busy deflecting from his criminal activities..
Jane Fonda is just an amazing woman. She's smart, kind, funny and you've got to say still extremely hot 😋. She was always beautiful, but more than looks there's an unconscious X factor, something unquantifiable that just makes her more attractive, like Helen mirren. The best i can come up with is Grace. She just has an aura that draws you in. Like Jackie O or Princess Grace.
Geof Thompson ask her if she wants to get a room
@@jacknick7582 what's your problem? Can't get any?!!

+Sandra S do u reli need to post ur father’s story on more than once?
This woman has LIVED!!!! I like her.
Woo hooo!!! I love how you live your life Jane Fonda :)

Sandra S did you listen to the interview? Do you understand that the media can take a micro second documented in a photograph and reck havoc with it?
Sandra S stop trolling.
Always MY hero......DO see her movie "COMING HOME" . Very good !
"look at those bees" LOL
Love this lady so much . 😍😍😍
Boy she looks great!!
She looks great! Great actress and human being!
Amazing woman. Amazing work.
Jane Fonda, a wonderful person! Just think of Trump in constrast to Jane Fonda. What a great life she has had and how she grow and improve in every way, mental, physical, looks, spiritually! Lovely woman and I love her!
Wow I'm 46 now and I remember her being hot when I was a kid,,she is smoking hot STILL
Rachel Welch still smokin' hot too.
My mother used to have her workout tapes. as a teen I watched those a lot, different workout though. Yes, she is still hot.
David Pattemore, more than hot, she is brilliant and sharp as a tack!
Barbarella.
Rocking 80 and forever beautiful
People shouldn’t forget tipped workers include those in chain restaurants or diners with cheap food that get crappy tips.
Jane, the humanist, was way before her time... She hates human injustice!! Also, She is great at comedy. Can't wait to see Jane and Wanda Sykes co-star in another movie. They were hilarious in "Monster-in-Law!
Wow...another example of history rhyming again.
Jane's trip to Hanoi, however misguided, was an attempt to help, to raise awareness. She has since apologized, something today's politicians simply do not do. I admire her for that. She is a leader and always has been since the 60's. Her autobiography was courageous.
I love that she's letting herself be vulnerable and open. She's one of most courageous famous person and activist for justice.
Now that is a class act lady❤️❤️❤️
Meg Ryan wants her hair back!
Jane Fonda is one of those VERY RARE exceptions where the child of a talented person is also talented.
Jane has always been such an incredible person. A person of great integrity and strength. And mostly an inspiration to all women!!
What an awesome lady.
I❤ Jane Fonda, one of the greatest actresses of the 20th Century, a tireless crusader for the marginalized peoples, she was so right about Vietnam. ✌
Does any of this remind anyone of anything oh I don't know that could maybe be happening now?
Remember that our "President" got 3 deferments from Vietnam for heel spurs? Womp. womp.
Actually it was 5 total deferments, only one of which was for bone spur. The other 4 times were for being a college student.
Yep.. and if he'd been over there, she would've been fighting for him to come home in one piece.. not for remnants or remains..
muddeer, and he has the audacity to say that Senator McCain was not a hero because he had been captured.
Yes.. because he couldn't use any other excuse... Yet, he played sports after claiming medical deferment..
Yes. I always think of the five other young men who must’ve gone in his place, each time😔
God bless your heart
Jane Fonda is an American patriot!

Wow..put the cap back on the stupid pills!!
She made mistakes, and apologized for them (numerous times), but her heart was in the right place, and protesting the Vietnam war was the patriotic thing to do. (and yes, I say that as a disabled vet)
Simply a badass
How in da fuck could someone "thumbs-Down" this video??? She's Brilliant!
“Look at those bees up there...” so childlike, sweet and genuine. Love her more now.
Stunning!
God, what a crush I had on her, when i first saw her in Barbarella at age 13. Then Klute. Then Barefoot in the Park. The shot of her outside the lift (elevator!) door where she threatened to give Robert Redford's character his pyjamas.
Sigh....
Tim Beaton - yeah, fell in love with her watching BAREFOOT IN THE PARK, BARBARELLA was the icing on the hot cake.
She is living her life to the fullest!
My Mom always used to do the Jane Fonda workout! Wow!
Love her always ! ❤️
Guess you love traitors and people who harm others.
I remember that photo and at the time I didn't like it. But I didn't like the war and didn't like how America treated its soldiers. I respect the soldiers who served. I also remember the protest by the mile relay team at the gold medal ceremony in 68. Trump, I don't respect you. You had your chance to serve. It makes me sick how you think people should show patriotism. It makes me sick how you cuddle with the flag and talk about maga.you need to resign and then you need to repay America the money you and your buddies stole from America
Jane is 81 here....and she doesn't look a day older then 38. She's stunning and definitely one of the sexiest woman on the planet.
One of the BEST interviews !
Jane Fonda proves that you dont need drastic disfiguring plastic surgery to be beautiful later in life.
Absolutely stunning woman on every level
She's had injections...you can tell because her cheeks don't move in any way. Still, those are damn good injections. Whoever does hers deserves a ton of customers.
No, she and Raquel Welch both look amazing and prove that they found the best surgeons.
No she declared dhe had some surgery to her jawline five years ago. And it s pretty true to reality.
She has had plastic surgery and she is a traitor who has done real harm to many people. People forget or don't care about that.
Sandra - exactly what harm has she done to people?
The ACLU is our last defense against the government we have in Trump times.
Jane, thank you for always being there.
BOLD & Beautiful !!!
Jane Fonda, a brave woman, I am a Vietnam vet and love her activism, nothing she did offended me back then , and the Sir, No Sir video shows the FTA tour which I knew nothing about.
Friends around my age who are veterans (whether they were in Viet Nam or served later) still forward to me those Hanoi Jane hate mails. Still. I was misinformed about the anti-aircraft gun incident for decades myself - though I never hated her. After watching some interviews, I totally believe her explanation. I believe she was trying to help - I believe she still is. When celebrities put themselves out there as activists, the price can be high. Even for us common folk there can be a price. If I were to share this on Facebook I am fairly certain I would get unfriended by at least two people, so I think some minds cannot change and I understand why but think it is tragic. I watch "China Syndrome" every now and then - still. And I binge watched Grace and Frankie on Netflix. I enjoy her work and I respect her political courage.
Why the /f/ is Stephen trying to do a neutral interview here? She's incredible in every respect!
Yes, it was a very weird, stilted interview. He was so self-conscious about being impartial that it made her jittery. Watch almost any other interview with Fonda and you'll see a much more relaxed and engaging woman.
I could be completely wrong but I think their relationship is a little strained because of that awkward interview on the Colbert Report years ago. I think you can still find it on YoutTube.
Jane Fonda has been on the Late Show with Colbert a few times before. This is the first I've seen her with so much nervous energy. Maybe the subject matter was a little outside her comfort zone?
Yeah, he usually engages a lot more with his guests. This was...weird. Jane still killed it tho
@@chriscollinson1696 yeah, she was a little flustered and nervous. I guess it's because she's talking about herself and not about a project (a movie or Grace and Frankie), and it makes her uncomfortable.
Love this person!!
I am so happy she pointed out the problems with restaurant work. She couldn’t be more right. I hope they help start some change.
ive never heard an 80 year old with such a clear mind! amazing how she is so very lucid. a testament to her amazing intellect and fortitude!!
WIllie is 85, Jane is 80, I am too young.
That wasn't long enough.
i adore her ❤❤❤
Fonda ran with the B Panthers , she good with us.
I've done Jane's workouts since I was 2 years old, following along with my mother. They're still my favorites!
coming home has been one of the best movies ive ever seen i just recently bought it for my library
What an amazing woman! Love her!
How come this woman is 80 and so active and energetic
I think it has something to do with her living very close to things dear to her heart, honoring them actively. Life's elixir...
She doesn't eat crap or carry extra weight, gets good sleep, stuff Americans have not kept in their life.
Vitamins!
Vitamins.
She seems like she might have spent a little time in Willie’s bus before the show 😊
Anthony Trupiano ..haha
She’s so expressive.
JANE! We love love you! And don’t you forget it!
