- Where you can hear a country song song from far
and someone plays the honky-tonk guitar
Where all the lights will go out one by one
the people join the sun
and the wind takes it away
Where the Mississippi falls down to the sea
and lovers found the place thhhey'd like to be
how many times before the song was ending
love and understanding
everywhere around
Mississippi, I'll remember you
whenever I should go away
I'll be longing for the day
that I will be returning again
Mississippi, you'll be on my mind
everytime I hear this song
Mississippi roll along
until the end of time
Now the country song for ever lost its soul
when the guitar player turned to rock & roll
and everytime when the summernights are falling
I will always be calling dreams of yesterday - Hudba
I remember listening to this when it reached number 1 in the UK. Even though I was a punk, I secretly loved it. I have now listened to all their stuff on You Tube and fell in love with them. A brilliant band, beautiful women and a cracking voice. They have more talent in their little fingers than most of todays manufactured garbage!!!
I remember this from the long hot summer of 1976 in the UK.. Great times when people seemed to care more about each other than they do today..
I love this song. In the U.K. it was a hit in 1976 and I remember it well, having turned 16 and just discovered girls! Happy times and I had a mad crush on Toni, I still fancy her now. :-D
Tonny Wille and sisters Betty Dragstra and Marianne Hensen never stop delivering their 1976 blockbuster hit "Mississippi." in this classic "CZcams" clip. The Dutch group PUSSYCAT propelled "Mississippi" to the only #1 rock hit by a Dutch group in the U.K. TW simply nails every passage in this unforgettable hit that sold 5,000,000 records world wide. Witness the emotion Tonny taps into in 860,019 "You Tube" viewers who recall the memories of 1976 like they were yesterday. TW - you are fabulous
This song was an essential part of my childhood here in Holland. Very fond memories. Great vocals, great harmonies, real strings - a true classic.
What a truly amazing song. I have the vinyl version from when it was first released and it still makes the hairs stand up on the back of my neck when I hear it again. I think that the lead singer Tonny has one of the most distinctive voices I have ever heard and so powerful. Certainly brings back some wonderful memories. Fantastic!
If the band happen to read my comment, please note that this song has been entertaining me ever since I heard it when I was 20 year old.
You are great! The best ever..
There was an infectious joy in the face of the singer, they really loved what they were doing. I miss those days very much.
Will we ever hear music as good as this again?
ARH NO !
no way
doubt it very much
never....it is total shit today
what a beautiful voice she has :-)
Woman sing country-rock so felt-tru!
Since the day this song saw the light, it never went away for too long.
I wish it could stay forever!
Bernard
Pussicat is from Holland. I grew up listening to them and this brings HUGE mamories back for me....
As a truck driver almost every transport cafe had this playing on the juke-box, and dancing queen. Memories!!! Good ones at that.
Lead singer has an ace voice.
There's a nice happy rock-n-roll moment at 2:29
What a fabulous song. Some dare to criticise the 70's - this disproves criticism.
Had the pleasure of seeing them do this live in their home town of Roermond in the Netherlands way back in the early eighties!
I heard this song on the radio when driving on motorway through Kentucky. Made me proud and all because I am Dutch and was just visiting friends in Louisville.
I love this song. The music arrangement and the harmony voices are beautiful.
Super memorable song. A nice lady engaged us to play at her music pub in Brunssum, Netherlands. Then, she said "Oh, you might remember me. I was in a band called Pussycat in the 70s!" It was Marianne, the bassist from Pussycat who ran (she might still) Marianne's Café. When we played, Toni turned up to see us. She looked great and had her little dog with her. We'd only seen her recently on German telly on an Oldies' tribute programme. She was very friendly and complimentary, saying what we were playing sounded great. It was a really friendly gig with a fantastic ambiance!
SEXY WOMAN , GREAT VOICE !
AstraMusicOfficial.
I remember in the 70th, my Mother and me we were very unhappy, it was a big problem to get this record in Germany. This Record was in all shops sold out, and that for a long time. A Owner of a recordshop told us that they get not enough records from the company then the people ask for it.
This Record was a so big Hit in Germany , and it's a evergreen for ever.
oh meine jugend zeit..wie schön..ich erinnere mich gerne an diese zeit zurück...danke vielmals
A fab song from the '70's. This was a great group which didn't get the right amount of recognition in the U.K. with the rest of their music
From a time when music was music and not the gutter trash they now spout out !
Oh how I wish I could turn the clock back !
Music? This filthy modernist gibberish, you say?
Oh lord, I miss the good ol' days when Mr. Johan Bach would play the harpsichord for us. No videos, no recordings, just plain live sound filling the room! Such beautiful, lovely baroque songs. That was some true music.
@@user-qg5bl2kt7u lmfao
Didn't know wonderful guys from Ireland would like a kinda country - rock.... what a nice song!
Thank you darlin' SonShine~Heaven!
You nailed it -- Pussycat delivered "MIssissippi" to NUMBER 1 for four weeks in the U.K. in late October thru mid November, 1976
Some day,I will go to the Netherlands just to see marianne and maybe get an autograph from her.
me to
Did you go yet?
This is a Dutch group. Great girls as far as I can see, Sisters: the youngest one has an amazing voice. The other two are great harmonisers. They sang, and sang well, some great songs: both originals and covers. I have been amazed, I like them and am glad I discovered them. It is easy to scoff at a distance of over 30 years.
They are Dutch!? I did not know that. Great song.
Im only 33 my pals think I'm mad (born way before my time) this is my karaoke song but when I start to sing it what a change it makes to the atmosphere in a pub, everyone loves it :) now my pals all love it...
...it just makes you happy.. that and a bit of Boney M/Ottawan and your party can't go wrong ;)
Had many a great night with this song, happy times :)
Glasgow, Scotland.
What an amazing voice Toni Wille Has, by rights she should have been a major international star.
I never get tiered of listening to this amazing song it has the lot, beautiful harmonies, brilliant melodies, a very happy group singing together, not like the crowd with them? whats wrong with them I would have loved to be there. Anyway I pretend to be there and sing along with Pussycat like it should be,
Eu simplesmente amo esta musica, pois ela marcou uma fase muito importante de minha vida,a minha adolescencia.Quando á ouço é como voltar ao passado.É incrivel.
Hey just an oldish memory for us older guys, take care, so lovely xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
This is a country song and yet this went unnoticed in the USA!!!!
🌺 Just beautiful.
September 2019-- Forever.
Brings back great memories of West Germany in mid 70s.
Die netteste Zahnlücke der 70er !! Und ein klasse Musik....
Love this song. Pussycat even pierced the 'iron curtain' when they came to perform on the Polish TV special in Studio 2, I remember seeing it when I was a kid. I hummed this song in my broken English on the way to school every morning after that.
Musica linda so esse grupo maravilhoso sabe cantar Parabéns ao pussycat a betty e linda
Passe o tempo que passar essa música vai ser sempre linda e querida por todos que saudades dessa época Meu Deus
Thanks for posting. This was No 1 in September 1976, when my daughter was born.
Das ist ein wunderschöner song von Pussycat! Man kommt bei diesen schönen oldies ins Träumen. GvlG -Monika
the soft gravel that rolls out of her ....shivers!!!
WONDERFUL ARE ! I LOVE YOU VERY, VERY, VERY MUCH ! HEART GREETINGS FROM SOFIA - BULGARIA
Along with 'Smile', these were her two best songs...Superb!!!!
The lead vocalist had a spectacular sound... Perhaps the best Dutch female vocalist ever.
I did not know about this song until now. now I can not get enough of it. I need a fix every day of this song.
Very good song! Very good voice!
This always makes me purrrr ! I miss the Mississippi .... This is country music pure and simple.
I'm addicted to this song after some 20 years or more. This girl is so pretty and has a big time voice.Perfect !
Loved Toni from the first time I seen her...Such a sexy fantastic looking girl....However she is a fabulous singer and was a sensation in her time...I was a young guy then and she had something special for everyone...

Demais essa música.
Dutch bands always did well in my boyhood home of South Africa and this one was always one of my favourites. It was a massive hit in SA.
man i have just brought myself back from, the brink of destare just sitting here crying , just to think what the music was like when i was growing up man i miss it so much , just to say thanks to everyone
Musica muito linda, e bem interpretada, é sempre suscesso.
Nice song...I love it!
Hij blijft buitengewoon goed en tijdloos. Echt tijdloos. Ik kan hier voor altijd van genieten!
Pussycat maakte sowieso aardig wat leuke nummers.
This was the time when it was all about the song and not about the video. Great music, great bands.
Muito linda essa música amo esse grupo São fantástica que saudade parabéns pussycat
Just love this and them
It's not about looks, it's about music and she has the most superb voice. First class posting thanks.
great song. i was around 18 when this came out and was never off the pub jukebox.memories.
Unique voice!!
it's easy to see and hear why they knocked ABBA off no1 spot, pretty girls and fabulous song
Brought back such great memories. How come girl singers don't look that good anymore. And more importantly, why can't they sing like these beauties.
Большое спасибо за видео! Прекрасная группа 70-х! Ищу песню в их исполнении (в русском переводе называлась: "Не выходи замуж за железнодорожника".
the red hot summer of 76
Germanophile. Unfortunately too many people are brainless in this world, or just cruel because it makes them feel good. . Toni has one of the most magnificent voices, her sisters are lovely people & the whole sound is just beautiful, and this is comng from an old rock n' roller. But all some people see are the teeth, which I happen to find attractive, not that it means anything, So Kevin, are you genetically blessed or do you have a beer gut & bad breath & feel the need to put someone else down? You may be genetically blessed in the looks department but if that's the case I'm afraid there was nothing left for brain development.
Nicely put my friend. :-D
+SynthesizerSounds Thats an extremely clever response I must say. Better a gap between the teeth than a gap between the ears...
not all germans are fucking stuff, i am the examble, i like people speaking english much more, than people talking german.....we germans really not nice
i agree to you, this is music with heart and soul
anneinfo I like the Germans 😀👍👍
They just don't make great music like this today. Wonderful
a man from misississippi, this sure brings back so many go memories
I loved the lead singer back in the late 70s when I was a teenager, she would have probably have eaten me for breakfast then.
would love a rematch now though.
You can probably dream on. She would certainly eat you for breakfast now.
garfield2279 lol
i am 16 again
Damn, why didnt this band come out with more songs? Why are they not still around? Fantastic voices, harmonies and musicianship!
This song and the people singing it are the epitome of great musicians and, it's a privilege to be able to hear AND see them here on CZcams!
I'd love to hear what they are all doing now.
Thanks for sharing this absolute classic with us. It's brought back such great memories of childhood.
They should bring type of music back not the rubbish you now'er days.
Sexy and fully clothed? How can this be?
OMG wot a Gr8 tune, my dad loved it and I dedicate this 2 him.......love u and thanx 4 being a Gr8 dad.....u was 1 of the best.....c u when i get there xxx eh ? xxx
Brings back memories of a great era!
WHAT'S WITH THE MISSING TEETH? All three of those birds look like they were nearly beaten to death with the ugly stick. And before you beat ME up, I love the song.
How can you say that Toni Wille (The lead singer) is ugly? I think she is stunning. She is in her 60s now but still looks very good. Her voice now is even better than it was back in the 70s.
Michael Thomas obviously we have different taste in women. I think she is grotesque.
She doesn't have missing teeth......she has a gap between her two front teeth!
My Daughter reckons I have a 'thing' about women who have a gap in their front teeth ! I have always been of the opinion that there is something going on with Toni Wille's eyes. It's almost as if she is straining to see or is perhaps light sensitive.
I've known worse, much worse...
Think of the drivel and so called "artists" of today........compared to this .........talk about dumbing down writ large.
where can i find these awsome sisters to thank them for these ever lasting songs of the universe????
very underated singer in my opinion..crystal clear voice and great production on this
i grew up hearing this song played by the adults in my family-and its stay a classic within my generation. Good to finally put faces to the voices/singers of this classic Hit
How can anyone not like this sort of music life was so better then and uncomplicated,
ich habe seit 32 jahre dieses song nicht gehoren und ich habe es niemals vergesen ich schreibe aus spanien viele grusse
eu estava na 8ª série quado esta música fez sucesso, em 1977, saudade demais
what a voice and the harmonys are fantastic
wow!!! if only the singers of today could sing live like this...childhood memories being about age 5 having my mum play and play this record on the wooden "ferguson" stereogram"!!!!!!!
hollands finest i was 12 when this was a hit still love it 34 years later
Most of your favorites are mine too. I would definitely include Buddy Holly, The Everly Brothers, Eddie Cocheran, Gene Vincent, Cliff Richard, Little Richard and Fats domino.
I'm sure I've forgotten a few - but I am 66!
P.S. I play the guitar and the Rev. Gary Davis is one guy I particularly admire.
this song holds special cherished memories for me......eighteen years old and all of life in front of me....wish i could turn back the years
i was 17 and i remember driving up the old m4 north of sydney summer,s day windows down bloody awsome time of my life!

cheesy but still a cracking song....IT does 't half take me back (1976)
Gee. I had forgotten that. It was the song that was playing in the amusement park in the small town of coqueiral in Brazil in 1976. When I met Laura, my first girlfriend. I was 13. Forgot "Pussycat" singing Mississsippi. I forgot Laura, my first girlfriend. Our relationship lasted only school holidays and now I hear the song and remembered it. Today it is a good memory of times had seemed so sad when I had to leave my beloved. Dont know if the song is good, but for me it is.
This was number one when my granddad Dexter died, I was 7 years old.
What a fabulous era of Music !!!
this song reminds me of my mum .happy birthday mum I miss you soooooooooo much R.I.P
