"They Are SILENCED!" - Ex GMP Detective On Rochdale Paedophile Grooming Victims Let Down By Police

  • Girls were “left at the mercy” of paedophile grooming gangs for years in Rochdale because of failings by senior police and council bosses, a report has said.
The damning 173-page review covers 2004 to 2013 and sets out multiple failed investigations by Greater Manchester Police (GMP) and apparent local authority indifference to the plight of hundreds of youngsters, mainly white girls from poor backgrounds, all identified as potential victims of abuse in Rochdale by Asian men.
Malcolm Newsam CBE, co-author of the report, said: “Successive police operations were launched over this period, but these were insufficiently resourced to match the scale of the widespread organised exploitation within the area.
“Consequently, children were left at risk and many of their abusers to this day have not been apprehended.”
Former detective of Greater Manchester Police Maggie Oliver, who resigned to expose their failures over the Rochdale grooming gangs, says “these truths were known 12 years ago”.

This grooming was happening in Leicester when I worked there in the 1970’s. It was carried out in plain sight by Pakistani born men who had come into Leicester from Idi Amin’s Kenya. I, and many others reported this time and again to the Council’s Chief Executive and to the police. The repeated response was always “don’t go there!” We spoke to newspaper reporters but nothing was ever publicised. I suspect that grooming has continued since then, and is still happening today in every city and town throughout the UK.

I resigned from the MPS as an Inspector. Years of dedicated service. Remember in 2011 a Chief Inspector (now Supt!) who wouldn’t support my promotion because I wasn’t ’on board’ with the cost cutting that inevitably led to a poorer service and retreat from public space. There was an obsession with quick win clear ups rather than dealing with root causes. The police service is in terminal decline. Destroyed financially and structurally by the tories. Ideologically captured by the Left. I’m so sad to
See what happened to a service and the public I was so committed to.

If you read ‚Easy Meat‘ by journalist, Peter McCoughlin, you will see that some of the girls were groomed under the noses of their parents, who were helpless. One father who tried to rescue his daughter from a perpetrator‘s flat was threatened by the police with arrest if he went there again. Some of the girls were in care, some were from broken homes, had witnessed domestic violence, lived in poverty, were being bullied at school or were otherwise disaffected. Let’s not pretend that some children aren’t seriously disturbed by their early teens and that affects the choices that they make. The whole point of a police force is that it should protect the young and foolish- and who wasn’t foolish when they were young - from calculating, older predators. When it instead protects the predators, you have to conclude that it’s no longer fit for purpose.
