This such a great video. No bs just actual live footage. Great handling skills! Very patient and focused. I love it! What a beautiful dog with great obedience and good manners. Job well done!
dogs are pack animals, man training your dog IS the pack leader & that dog knows that, he has that dogs attention, great job
I didn't have to do a lot of training with my boerboel, he always makes good decisions ...he was born to guard...
@@kaand1000 no not aggresive just protective
You made so much sense about trying to make a Boerboel a friendly lab. We too purchased our Boerboel for a family protector and would not want her to lick a robber if they came in. :) I love your channel please keep adding more content.
Thanks so much! More vids coming!
Getting my first Boerboel soon! Love your
Info!!!
Awesome! Thank you!
Remember to start young and make it fun. The sooner the better with boerboels. Mine both mother and father were out of S. Africa and working dogs. When I got mine I started early and then found out my father had cancer for two years I didn't get to spend much time with him, because of having to take care of my father.
Great philosophy on the guardian/protection breeds.
Thanks!
BTW great video, informative, knowledgeable, and enjoyable. I have a top 5 of my all-time favorite dog breeds and the Boerboel is my #1. Keep up the good work 👍
I currently have my first. He's 2yrs old now and play and meets the neighbors daily. At a glance some would say he's goofy. However, let there be one thing just slightly out of place and he alerts very strongly.
I love how the use their paw when playing tug with them. Absolutely stunning dogs. And great videos, really informative and I like your dog training philosophy!
Thank you very much!
I love this. Ive always thought it was wrong when I see people's dogs pulling on the leash whilst out and about
The best dog trainer I ever seen that Boerboel is very good hes a good trainer too very obedient and beautiful Boerboel
I never thought to use toys like this as a reward instead of treats, gonna try this with my female and see if I can get to the next level of obedience. Great stuff 👏
What a beautiful and well trained dog!
Great Video! Absolut calm and focused training. Really good Video 👍😊
Thank you! 👍
You’re talking truth! 👏🏾
I'm such a big fan. Like to here all interesting and important info and watch nice demo. Can't wait for more. Wanna know what you have learned about boerboels and see some more of those beautiful dogs. By the way the place you live is like a dream, beautiful.
Awesome and thank you for your encouraging words!
That’s a good boy
Yes he is, Thanks!
Mano is awesome! I think you said he's just under two yrs old, what does he weigh? Pretty solid and a beautiful mover, catch poles are crucial! Thanks for the content.
He is 2 in a couple days and a bit over weight right now. After he loses a few pounds a good weight for him is about 165 lbs. He really hasn't grown much since he was about 18 months old.
@@LDXP Nice. Mine is turning five in Jan. 2023. He is best at 150. He is injured, torn CCL, and it has been almost a year since that has happened. We had a set back in the beginning of July. We are working with a Physical Therapist. Conservative rehabilitation is the way we are going. It is taking a long time, but we didn't feel good about having him operated on. That and we found out he is allergic to sulfa. His platelets dropped to zero. He also dropped down to 120. It didn't seem like what we feed him he wouldn't put on anymore weight. We kept a log of everything we were feeding him and took it to the vet. We asked the lady we kennel him with, and no one had an answer. We found BullyMax on the web and started feeding him that and it worked! :o) He weighs 140 right now and we want to keep him there just to keep him lighter so that he doesn't have as much presser as when he is totally healthy. Now we are planning to get him neutered because of all of his problems he has had. Everyone who knows boerboel that we ran into would say he is the epitome of what a boerboel should look like. Oh well, it is what it is. He is such a horndog also. It a mastiff type female he wants to mount her. Poor boy.
@@shannonmoore5549 Hope your boy has an excellent recovery!
@@LDXP Thanks!:o)
Any tips on how to get a boerboel puppy (6 months) to not whine/bark in its kennel? You guys are so good with your boerboel and they are so good in there kennel.
Make it his safe space. Toys and treats when he goes in. Raw beef bones. We also put a dog mattress in his kennel Our boy at 6 mo would go through a femur in about a week if we let him. He would also chew up lime stone, it was better than the river stones he would break and eat. SMH. We got him to stop, but we were a little worried when he started chewing on the corner of the house. LOL He is just a big ole goof ball until he goes on point. Then heaven help the person who comes into our back yard. He isn't a protection dog but he will protect you. He is a guard dog. Big difference.
Do you put your dogs in a kennel if you have to travel? How do they react to strangers in that situation? Thanks
I've had Rottweilers, now getting my first Boerboel! How did you find the breeds differ? You said you used to have Rottweilers as well
The Rottweilers were more independent, our Boerboels are much more clingy. Working wise they are very close to the same, they both train easy but our Rottweilers were less aloof.
@@LDXP which is more intelligent of the two or easy to live with especially if there is a elder in a large house
Working wise they are more similar than not but easy to live with I would say the Rottweiler. Simply because of the size of the Boerboel.
They grow quick which means you need control at a much faster pace and you need to respect their size with everything. Even with innocent things the size of the dog can get you. Man O' War has almost knocked over the wife simply shifting his sit position beside her while she was working at the kitchen counter.
At what age do you feel there guard instinct kicks in
What is the name of the toy on the string?
New fan!
Glad you found and like our channel!
Great videos. I am also in Canada (Ontario) but have yet to see a boreborel dog. Is there any good breeders in Canada that breeds to good standards ? Anyone ?
Hi check out our latest video!
I have a 9 month old Boerbel in dire need of training he likes to bite when I have nothing for him to fetch while being outside after relieving himself. He likes to chase leaves, and runners. He also exhibits agression towards other dogs particularly pit bulls more than any other breed. We get lots of attention though.
Hi and welcome, I'm sure our approach to obedience can help you out and I'm just getting ready to drop our next video. I think you will like it!
Start treating him like a dog unlike pampering him. Completely ignore him in disgust and move away when he acts crazy or does the wrong thing but never be afraid and be confident. Praise him only when he listens to you or does a right thing.
These are guardian breeds, maybe it's not the dog for you. Your accomodation might not be right for the dog. Get a lab or a German shepherd if you want a dog that looks or could be a guard dog.
@@captainjacksparrow6881 A lab is not a guard dog. And what makes you think that he's not the right breed for me?
What part of Canada are you from
Have Mano and Dawn matted yet
I would really love to open up a communication with you guys ☺️...... beautiful work and get temperament and your dogs .... please get back to me ...and thank you for putting out such quality video that display obedience, movement and effective training methods

Just sent you an email 😃
I’m interested in getting a boerboel Would you be able to put me in touch with who you would recommend as breeder to buy a pup from ? I’m in the US Texas
Hi, we will be dropping a video on the breeders we used in just a couple of days.
Hi. Sorry, more from me. Is there anyway you could do some videos of the dogs in public (the park, the mall, the pub etc)? Thanks.
Sorry but the only thing I may show is our dogs going for a walk through the streets and in a park. I raise my dogs as our working dogs and I am very specific how I expose them to the public, My dogs do not go to the mall or the pub etc I only take them where it is appropriate for them to do their job and they are needed. Cheers!
@@LDXP Hey. Thanks for the response. Loving the vids.
Do you have puppies for sell
Can you recommend a breeder you got your dog from
I hv a 3 month boerboel am I wrong 4 socializing now?
I don't socialize my puppies until after their last booster at 16 wks. Then I do so according to how I described in our newest video.
You don't want to socialize before 16 weeks and after the booster because it can exposing him to stuff that is out there that could be very detrimental to his life.
Love your chanel and Content, what's the size of your dogs? Height weight?
Thanks, ManO I think is still just over 165, and the ladies about 130. Sorry height I am not sure.
@@LDXP thank you, they look incredible and your training videos are easy to follow and very well explained!
How did you guys learn to train your dogs? I remember you saying your not professional trainers but it sure looks like you are, you do a realy good job!
That dog is only a machine , i saw no Love by the Leader It makes me sad....
Beautiful dog great training
Thank you very much!
