- The Prince of Wales takes Alan Titchmarsh on a tour of Highgrove House - his own personal retreat and family home. Prince Charles gives a remarkably informal and candid interview about the outlet for his gardening aspirations, offering a rare insight into a royal passion. The Highgrove estate has become synonymous with all things organic, and Alan finds out from Head Gardener Debs Goodenough and her team what inspired the beliefs of the most hands-on royal gardener in history.

I've watched this several times and it lifts my soul. King Charles is a man of so many talents, and is a global leader in organic gardening and farming, and all things to do with caring for Mother Earth - and many more things too.
Thank you for this video, and for the insight into a man who is so often maligned. He's caring and compassionate and we are fortunate to have him as our King.
He seems a very gentle soul I hope the grandchildren carry it on.
Likewise. His majesty exudes the spirit of classical western traditions and arts. A truly wonderful human being that inspires us all, indeed.
These videos are so well done, and educational. Thank you so much.
My husband and I were lucky enough to get the invite from Waitrose to go visit the garden at Highgrove few years ago. It didn’t disappoint. And one thing one noticed was how modest the home of the Prince of Wales is. Anyone with his position would be expected to live in a much bigger, outlandish property but choose to live modestly. The garden is something else though, his artistry and vision to implement it to his liking is to be admired.
Oh Wow! Yeah so small
How true that you learn about people through their gardens. I feel that I had a glimpse into the psyche of the real person, so much more than the public image. Thank you.
I am so impressed with Prince Charles. What a wonderful caring gentleman. His voice is so soothing.
If his callings fall through He could read audio books.
The aristocracy have always inspired the masses, and in the case of Highgrove garden, it's for the greatest good. Imagine a world where everyone's home has an organic garden and all of the water is recycled and birdsong and wildlife, and food from the garden can be eaten. Imagine a world where that is the norm, just like a kitchen in a home, it is possible, I believe that world can exist. Thank you Prince Charles, inspirational!
What a pleasure to listen to a person as noble as Prince Charles! We desperately need people of His kind, upbringing, culture, manners, mind and heart and to be able to express themselves in such a beautiful, natural yet elegant language! iam originally from Poland, residing in Canada, and a fan of the Royal Family of England! may God bless them all and always!
I love watching this clip over & over. I just love this garden the Prince has created. It is mind blowing!
Beautiful & touching article. The Prince is obviously a very sensitive and aware man of his environment & those he loves. Being a life long gardener, hope to visit this outstanding place some day.
It is a pleasure to be able to see this personal view of the Highgrove Gardens, and to hear the comments of Prince Charles. Alan Titchmarsh did a marvelous job of interviewing both HRH and the staff. I am grateful this was posted on CZcams.
CJ Osborne absolutely loves the ability to express beauty of even the importance of the lowly stumps lovely lovely
Grateful for the view and the music.
I just admire Price Charles so much. I have been a loving gardener since I was 4. I am now 77. I learned from my manager when I was 20 not to spray my roses , just to squeeze the aphids . I have been learning ever since. Bless Charles and Camilla ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
carol King He seems to be a very sensitive man. I used to correspond with his father.
Do you believe Charles would dirty his hands working in a garden?! You would be a fool !
Now king charles the 3rd ! As of today ! RIP queen Elizabeth the 2nd !
@@LD-tk7qf Of course Charles does a lot of gardening himself. He already said that he does a lot of pruning.
He is very in tune with the trees and the plants and the soil.
He is an outdoors person by the way.
dont be silly. he does garden himself - he enjoys it, @@LD-tk7qf
The music and gardens are fantastic!!!
Highgrove House is an excellent home with a most amazing garden; What Prince Charles and no doubt Camilla have done over the decades is nothing more than amazing the gardens are an inspiration to us all.
Prince Charles I believe is an excellent character unlike what the press annoyingly attempt to portray, I actually listen to what he says’ his words are serene and calming if you do listen you could actually learn a whole lot.
He opens his gardens by choice to allow us to see this beautiful place. I love the stumpery and also the busks of close friends such as the Jack Russell Terrier “Tigger”. I am a particular lover of Jack Russell Terriers.
The money gained from visiting Highgrove goes to Prince Charles’s charities, for some reason people seem to overlook this.
Prince Charles will be a worthy King and my position is strong that the UK benefits from having a Royal Family. They give our small island so much.
Yes, King Charles is the real deal and he gets thoroughly ENGROSSED--of God in his pursuits. He will be a great King. Did you know that he is highly attained in masonry--which is the heart of all religions. Why, because Masonry is the continuation of the Mystery School going back to 46,000 BC; and in its name is my son and daughter as well. Like the King was saying, we need to see the whole thing as Light with little points of light within each of us which we find, at X marks the spot--in our spiritual heart center, and there we find the missing Word--Self and form in union with it. I must say, that union is quite delightful, But I do not think that the King has attained that yet. And his voice is magnificent almost as good as Russell Crowe's. So maybe if Crowe only wants to direct my screen play, Taking Command, then perhaps the King would play Major General William Howe--who gave America her freedom in the Revolutionary War. w w w . t a k i n g c o m m a n d . u s
It's an ultimate dream to have such a diverse garden. I don't want a perfectly manicured lawn. I want a large patch of land full of life. 😊
I love natural gardens and trees flowers
Superb property! HRH has obviously spent a great deal of time, love and effort in creating such a haven. I'd love to visit it myself one day. Bravo, Charles, a splendid achievement!
Prince Charles is a class act.
He is so awesome.
How lovely that King Charles has his own harpist. I'd love to visit his charming garden surely the mark of a true King .. A delight in visual poetry.
I'm in love with this garden. Ahead of its time, artistic, a labour of love. Perfection.
I wish I could live there .. those grounds are so magical
Fantastic Highgrove. Very very beautiful.
What a beautiful place. Charles is, in his own way, an exceptional man. He cares very much about his environment.
The size of his carbon footprint is akin to the footprint of Godzilla.
@@MahatmaLevolence pity he didn't care about Diana. Shame on him!
@@claudesantolini6335 for goodness sake let it go, it happened, it was awful its in the past, leave it there no one is perfect
Claude Santolini and it happened over two decades ago. Move on! I’m sure that many others - like myself - are disgusted about his treatment of Diana, time to let it go chief.
@@claudesantolini6335 So we were told. Being from the house of Stewart, technically she was more royal than the royals. They're all scum.
He was always right about organics, he's a very clever man
back hand smack
what a conclusion...
I became aware that Charles is an environmentalist starting back in the 1970s.
He was labelled an eccentric and made fun of.
I had an organic garden in the late 70s.
After watching several recently made documentaries on Prince Charles this week including the 2 about him being the Prince of Wales for 51 years I I must admit that he’s a lot more complicated than I realized.
You really should pay more attention to the film. It clearly says Charles bought Highgrove and so it wasn't gifted to him. He then turned it into what it is today. Now I am no gardener but you have to admire the result.
He paid L800,000 for the house and property back in 1980.
the Duchy of Cornwall bought it and he leases it from the duchy@@mellisapollom2241
I love what Prince Charles has accomplished with the Gardens. They look so beautiful and serene.
What a beautiful heavenly garden!!! Thank you so much for sharing your home and garden ,God bless the Royal Family Always.

Beautiful Beautiful Beautiful gardens.😍😍
What a highly intelligent man. Well ahead of his time, will be a great king. His enthusiasm is infectious! Thanks for the video, AngelDocs.
With So Many European Monarchs, Who Are A Similar Age To The Prince Of Wales Abdicating In Favour Of The Next Generation And Giving That Her Majesty The Queen Declared That She Would Never Abdicate It Would Seem The Solution Would Be That Prince Charles Would Step Aside In Favour Of Prince William. Prince Charles Has Married His One True Love And It Is Clear To All That The Couple Are Deeply In Love But The Coronation Of Mrs Parker Bowles As Queen Would Cause Many Difficulties.
It is because of people like you that the those parasites are able to pull off their scam.
Persephone my backside.Char how's things hanging?
I am a form believer in all organic. For 20 years my husband and I carved an organic garden/homestead out of 5-acres of white oak forests. Two and one half acres was my native plants that I planted for my handmade papers and a huge wildflower meadow. It was a huge project that I loved designing, planting and managing all by myself - no gardeners.
What a beautiful series of gardens. I have been gardening since I was a small child. I'm 69. Both sets of Grandparents and my father were Gardners. My current home was a " blank canvas" as well , 19 years ago, and I've turned the 2 acres into my own private escape, full of flowers and plants, and vegetables. I so appreciate King Charles and can truly understand his love for gardening. His gardens speak for the kind of man he is. The world truly has misunderstood this man. Prayers that he has more years to enjoy the labor of love he has created here.
Lovely home and gardens....
As a keen gardener I have never seen such a lovely place.
I am not a fan of the Royals per se but Highgrove is a beautiful creation and should be admired as such.
HRH was really ahead of his time and now it seems that the world has caught up.
Such a beautiful estate.
I am so sorry Charles’s early life was so difficult and unfulfilling...he was a sensitive child before that was a thing. Even though his father insisted that he “toughen up” and his mother was not very affectionate. He now lives the life he truly deserves. His wife and children are his joy, outdoors is wonderful for him. He really asks for very few things. He will be a compassionate king.
If you look up other documentaries on CZcams about him there’s a 2 part one About him being the Prince of Wales for 50 years that is well worth the time spent watching both episodes. You get a deeper understanding of who he is and what shaped him into the man he is today.
Wasn't compassionate with his first wife when he caused her misery
Wendy Brooks dumbass
A very spoilt man.

Like it or not Prince Charles has excellent taste.
prince Charles ahead of his time.. i second that
What a wonderful garden!
Simply gorgeous on every level...and within every concept.
Beautiful surroundings.
Bravo Prince Charles. You are amazing, I love your garden and your philosophies.
***** ..and your point is?
What a beautiful place.
What I would give to tour these gardens one day. So lush and in harmony with the earth. How marvelous that he doesn’t over manicure, but instead prefers to keep it more closely related to a natural habitat. So beautiful. More so than the gardens though, I just love his voice and speech; his lovely spoken cadence in a warm, rich vocal tone, and in gorgeous, perfectly enunciated grammar in high English. It’s the words, speech and voice of a bygone era. A lost art. Could honestly listen to him speak all day. Beautiful. I hope many long years of health and peace for he and his true love, Camilla, Duchess Of Cornwall❤️
You had me until you mentioned Camilla. If she hadn’t been an adulteress while married maybe just maybe Diana and Charles would still be married.
@@prepperjonpnw6482 and both would be miserable. They had almost nothing in common. This arranged marriage should have never happened. Charles is one of those man who can only love one woman in their life. He should have stood up to his family and refused to marry Diana or anyone else. But there was a lot of pressure on him to produce heirs, so he caved in.
That’s what I love of his gardens, very naturalistic. His artistry is on show all round.
😊
The prince looks sad listening to the beautiful music!! I wonder what he is pondering. He is SO DEEP, and the Magical garden reflects that attribute of him! ITS ALL SO MESMERIZING!!
Such a beautiful garden, I think Charles is amazing!
LOL.
Alan that so amazing! Really think that gardening is one of the most good kind and great thing at that planet ! so nice! thank you!
what a wonderful garden. it is a great inspiration
pours tea and spills it on you
Very serene sanctuary for the royal house. Practices were ahead of their time, yet timely inspiration for horticulturalists of today. The stump garden is especially clever. Hoping they will always keep it open for visitation.
Only a lovely, gentle, wonderful man, can have splendid gardens!
nonsense. Anyone can have them if they have enough money
Loved the garden tour!!! Thank you Prince Charles , incredible beauty. So happy for you and Duchess Camila, true soul-mates.
speaking to plants is about the most sane thing a person should do...he is in touch with the earth...
How wonderful. Had no idea the Prince had such knowledge, would love to walk thru here. Thank you for sharing this,,💐
Be employs experienced gardeners and plant experts!!
I love to listen and admire this lovely organic garden, the flowers , the music, meadows its all something to admire for everybody. Its good for our soul . Elisabeth Norwegian gardenlover . Thanks..
Most lovely and important video. A must watch for all who appreciate nature and gardening.
The king looks remarkably relaxed……..just an ordinary chap living out his dream!! BRAVO!❤️
I enjoyed this video!!! Thank you very much!!
Exquisite. I am so inspired on so many levels. Thank you so much
Nature brings out the best in humans, beautiful.
Thank you Charles. Highgrove is a masterpiece. [Aussie in BC]
A man way ahead of the rest. Bravo your Highness.
OOO HIS HRH GARDENS ARE JUST BEAUTIFUL!!!!
What an amazing garden!!!
seeing at 3:04 the stunning bird's eye view drawing of Highrove commissioned by then prince Charles to the dear Johnatan Myes-Lea, who left us just last year, is endearing and moving.
I have quite enjoyed this video and the wonderful work that has gone on to develop the different gardens at Highgrove. To think that none of this was around 30 some years ago gives me hope to produce a haven for myself. That the gardens have been done organically and long before it was the right thing to do is amazing. I hope to tour this is person some day.
I know that this is from quite a few years ago, but it is so beautiful to see...thanks for giving vine us the access to this lovely video🌹
Amazing gardener. I would love to meet him and swap notes on our gardens.
beautiful garden. Prince Charles is very interesting man. kudos to him for creating a master piece. How many rich people spend their money on preserving the nature and green land?
clarissa p It's "Wenda Padbury " again,, appearing under one of her several aliases, but we, her admiring & devoted fans cannot be fooled! There is no mistaking her unique style, which never fails to delight , but never amaze, with it's unmistakable blend of mouth-frothing hatred for all things royal and in particular her wonderful gift of language when it comes to referring to Camilla!! Only a writer of "Windy" Padbury's unquestionably fertile vocabulary, no doubt gleaned from hours of study of public lavatory walls, could achieve the heights of foul invective which ""she" so effortlessly attains!!! Let us all raise our hats, not to mention our middle fingers, to this Queen of Trolls who doubtless spends sleepless nights in composing her deathless literary contributions which so intrigue and amuse all we who follow them! And long live Camilla, without whose existence WP would be left to a life devoid of meaningful purpose !!
clarissa p you indeed love Camilla. don't you?
Michael I am overcome with the truth you write.Congratulations.
I enjoyed this so much and appreciated P.Charles' holistic heart of love, of nature. We could all learn something from even his idea of using greywater and the natural filtering system. Brilliant! This along with the Stumpery fascinated me.
I wonder if he uses any of the plants, medicinally. Being creative, an artist, and intuitively connected with the glory of nature, I could see him playing with tinctures, maybe homeopathy. Hehe, at the very least, enjoying a rose petal bath, one of my favorite things:)
Thank you for sharing. Beltaine Cottage, another love-filled home with evolved gardens here on CZcams, suggested this video and the Stumpery. I'd never heard of a Stumpery and so related to it:)
I love my little garden. As humble as it is, I feel blessed to have been part of it's evolving these last 20 years. There is a special joy walking about, discovering her miracles that surprise, her sweet scents, and the joy evoked.
I wonder if P.Charles ever goes barefoot to soak in the earth, the blue of the moon, even the refreshing of mist of rain? A downpour has its magic, too, doesn't it:) I wouldn't be surprised if he has;0) xo
These gardens are so pretty.
the end product is simply magnificent.
This is true 'progressive' thinking and leave it to the English to lead the way to a healthier modern world...
Absolutely wonderful what the King has achieved.
O A BEAUTIFUL ORGANIC WORKING GARDEN....FROM THE WATER WASTE TREATMENT TO THE ORGANIC VEGGIE/FRUIT GARDEN....TO ALLL THE TREES & BIRDS..JUST FANSTATIC BEAUTY & FUCTION!! MARVELOUSE!!!
I can only just hear traffic, but the birds are a wonderful foil to that sound. The emotion evoked by this garden, it strokes mood, calming, elevating and, bringing a feeling of joy.I remember reading a book called The Secret Life of Plants, it came out in the 80's from that time on I talked and even sang to my garden...
This is what true artistic expression is.... Something that touches and awakens the soul deep inside to the beauty and miracle of life. The whole world should have to visit this garden.
Fascinating! Thank you!
A friend from England sent me some of Prince Charles organic tea and its quite lovely. Not able to get it here in the USA.
His Majesty is such a remarkable person. God bless him!
An astonishingly inspiring place. Happy to have seen it in this video and to have heard the comments of this whimsical person who may one day be King.
Hello audrey pard, a hug for you
The Duchess Camilla brush up her image
Now, she is nice and all the people love their great Duchess
splendid gardens love to visit it
Breathtaking gardens. I want to see inside the sanctuary.
HRH Charles Prince of Wales. I cannot hate him because he himself had emotional traumas. She and Diana are two very different people. He is also affectionate to his sons. Loves quiet, classics and romantics. Still a remarkable man. Such an old soul.
And that garden. Excellent work.
They molded him into something he's not. His true inner self is at highgrove.
A prince on the right path to Nature.🌈
He plays classical music to his plants in the greenhouses, he sees true beauty in every blade of grass, every petal, every branch....that's as rare as rocking horse shite

Prince Charles definitely loves Highgrove and his garden!!A great way to chill out!!😃😃! He loves gardening and his hands dirty!
He only bought it because it was close to where camilla lived.

Thumbs up, all the way 👍👍👍
Its a great achievement - well done Prince Charles. Can't believe all the negativity towards Charles and Camilla - once they are happy together what else matters.
Stephen Flaherty If my stepmother carried on an affair that helped to break up my mom and dad's marriage, I could be nothing more than civil to her. And, though, I'd probably still love my father, I'd still be angry at him.
Her Majesty doesn't like Camilla, and that's good enough for me.
No offense, your Royal Highness, but The Crown should pass to William and his heirs.
You'll not be sending them a Christmas card then?
It must be nice to have such wealth which enables you to spend spend spend.
And you are?Who the hell mentioned anything out of context?
My post meant the millions of plants in Charles garden. That's all.

Go to Some Arab states and see how they spend their money and how they treat their employees. The gardens are beautiful reflecting the ethics applied.
So beautiful and lush
That was really cool, I wish I could do a garden like that.

I agree with you totally. I wait for the terrorists to do it.
Dream on!
They could wipe YOU off with a wave of their fingers, particularly
Charles.
Why do the Brits go one and on about these people? For gods sake they are just people. It´s all a load of horse shit this royalty crap
No, you're misguided. They're not just people.
Granted, there are powers that stand even higher than the Windsors,
but the royals are only one step below in the pecking order, and
together with the Rothschilds & a few other leading men, they rule
supreme over the British public in the same manner the Rockefellers
& the other handful of top US bankers do whatever they please with the
yanks.
You have no say, my dear man. Your rulers & masters fine & tax you
as they see fit, can put you behind bars on a whim, take away your
house or freeze your assets at will, send you to die in a war if they so
wish, and are at total liberty to shoot you & kill you whenever it pleases
them.
The slightest disobedience on your part will not be tolerated.
It is no different over in the UK, Australia, NZ. Even the names of our
masters are very much the same.
Wake up. Half the Briitsh population want to get rid of them!
Prince Charles has always been different he loves gardening and restoring all he can He’s ok a bit misunderstood by his family or so it seems.I like all his ideas of planting as I’m a planter and absolutely love gardening. His flowers and trees are fine.
