- Tripreports. Airline Trip Report - Thomas Cook Long Haul Inflight Flight Review. A flight Review (Tripreport) of our Long Haul flight on a Thomas Cook Airlines Airbus A330-200 ( aircraft registration: G-OMYT ) from Copenhagen to Phuket, Thailand. The aircraft we flew with belonged to the Thomas Cook Airlines UK fleet, even though we were flying with Thomas Cook Scandinavia.
This flight review begins at Copenhagen Airport (Københavns Lufthavn) where the viewer follows us around the airport from Check-in to Boarding of our Thomas Cook Airlines flight to Phuket in Thailand. Once onboard the viewer joins us (Maxi and Maro) through our flight where we cover things like the inflight lavatories (this Thomas Cook Airlines Airbus A330-200 is quite unique as it has 5 lavatories located in it´s lower deck), the inflight Entertainment System (we cover what footage is available such as inflight movies, inflight TV shows and USB access and what type of headset can connect into the audio socket. This service costs money and we discuss the price and how to use the access codes too), the Inflight Meals (pre-ordered at a charge) & the Inflight Drinks (all drinks including water, non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks have to be purchased), the Economy Class Cabin layout (we have a look at the Economy Class seats and this aircraft's has a 2-4-2 seat layout ). The viewer of course has a view of the Pushback and takeoff from Copenhagen and the approach and landing of this Thomas Cook Airlines Scandinavia aircraft at Phuket International Airport in Phuket, Thailand. The video ends where the view can read our Flight Review and thoughts on this flight flown by a Thomas Cook Airlines UK aircraft for Thomas Cook Airlines Scandinavia.

According to a Thomas Cook Airlines video (from 01/2015) this Airbus A330-200 aircraft is one of only six, aircraft of this type, that have lower deck toilets (lavatories). Four of these specifically ordered Airbus types are operated by Thomas Cook Airlines. We of course take the viewer downstairs to have a look at this very unique placement of the passenger lavatories.

Thanks for another great video. I have actually been on a Thomas Cook A330 with a downstairs loo as well back in 2011 for a charter from Manchester - Acapulco. Never seen a plane with one since!
I will be on a similar route to this in October when I fly with your near neighbour Finnair from Manchester to Singapore via Helsinki on board an E190 and the new A350. As you can appreciate I am already very excited!

Hi there Philip, thanks for your very kind words and comments. Nice to hear that you also have had the chance to experience the downstairs "loo" on the Airbus, it is a rather unique experience. Great to hear that you are off to Singapore and planning a flight review, the A350 is a nice plane to fly on and we can absolutely understand your excitement. We recently tried the Qatar Airways A350 and that was a good experience. Funny that you mention that you will be Flying onboard the Finnair A350, ourselves are thinking about doing the same trip later this year when we return to Singapore. Let´s see which airline we choose (we have also been looking at British Airways but are nervous to commit to them because of the quite often Strike action! The same applies to Airlines like Lufthansa and Air France. We have bitten our nails for our flights with both Lufthansa and Air France flights because of Strike action... Another very nice trip report, you're making me want to take a trip and a long flight. I had no idea that there were A330's with a lavatory on a lower level, that really i quite strange!
Thanks THDA! Everytime we watch Trip Reports and Flight Reviews we always get that urge for long distance travel again, preferably with as many transits as possible. Apparently there are not that many Airbus A330´s with lower deck lavatories so that in itself was a special experience on this Thomas Cook flight from Copenhagen to Phuket!

Thank you M & M for another great flight report. The below deck toilets were interesting, you can now say I flew in a double decker Airbus! The beach looked very inviting. Btw, it always makes me nervous to see you filming on the stairs while getting down from the plane. Please be careful, I have no desire to see an ambulance ride and hospital trip review 😁. One more thing, you guys flew over Dhaka (well...almost) and didn't say hello...I'm disappointed!!
HaHa, thanks for your nice comment Ziauddin, it put a smile on our faces. Those toilets were very interesting and it was fun going "downstairs" on a plane. When I (maxi) disembark the plane filming down the stairs I am always very aware of my steps, I don´t wish to go tumbling down he stairs either. Funny you mention Dhaka, when we fly to South East Asia it is always one of our marks on our journey, we always say... "Now we are over Dhaka..." Excellent video and review! My, all the travelers look so clean, tidy and polite! Looks like the service was excellent, too. I have not travelled for a while. However, this video, the passengers and crew, and the service, actually give me some incentive to travel. First time I have felt like this for a long time. I think many airlines, including my hometown airline of Air Canada, could take some tips from Thomas Cook!

The reason Thomas Cook need to charge extras for items like Premier IFE, snacks and drinks is that they operate their flights in all economy layout so there are no premium passengers up front to subsidise those behind. The actual margins of the Thomas Cook Airline division are probably quite low and life for them would not be quite so rosy were it not for the support of their package tour division. They have had some financial bumps along the way. A very good review thank you.

OMG!!! I'm so happy with Thai airways to Phuket almost every year (sometimes Quatar or Etihad)...no hidden costs as extra charges for drinks, films,.. Menu's choices and no plastic forks/glass, a real hot breakfast,30 kg luggage etc etc...

Fantastic review. The plane looks really clean and neat. Is Thomas Cook what you would consider a low cost / budget carrier since you have to pay for food and entertainment? Also, I'm just curious, you understand Danish even though you're Finnish?

As regards your question about how long it takes to pass Immigration at Copenhagen Airport our experience has been that it has been relatively quick (10 minutes perhaps). We have departed in both June and July and it has never taken long. However we do recommend that you try to pass Immigration as quickly as possible, that way you will not panic if the queue and waiting time is long for some reason or other. The ashtrays in the lavatories are there because if someone decided to break all the inflight smoking rules they at least would have a safe place to put out the cigarette.

Expensive enough on board! and in the airport, but not much more than in Dublin where we live... I guess to countries outside of Europe this could be considered fairly expensive :).

You know, there's a reason for those ashtrays. They *are* meant to be used. Specifically by people who will break the rules, and some people will do just that. When they do break the rules, some *genius* decided it would be better if they have a place to put the cigarette out other than the garbage which will typically be filled with paper. So, in fact, that ashtray is there to save your life.

I don't understand why people carry large rucksacks and cabin bags on to the aircraft , what the hell have they got inside them? . I can't wait to get rid of my suitcase , all we have in board is man bag for me and handbag for my Mrs .
It drives me mad !!!
Some people only have the hand luggage with them on journeys so that they can avoid spending time in the baggage reclaim, hence the bigger hand luggage. We always travel with a rucksack too, the rucksack contains all our computer and camera equipment. As far as we remember most or all airlines will not take responsibility for valuables in checked baggage. Apart from that we would not be comfortable leaving expensive equipment in the hold (too much chance that it will be damaged on our longer connection flights). There´s a lot of reasons. I for example always carry 2 spare T-Shirts, underwear and shorts/pants in my hand luggage so that in case my luggage goes missing i always have some fresh clothes and my holidays aren´t completely ruined by shopping for crappy tourist T-Shirts in the nearest hotel shop ;-)
Also some of the more essential and valuable items i would never leave in the checked baggage. And then there´s a lot of other reasons like dietary needs ( i need to bring my own food for example) or thefact i do not want to rely on the in flight entertainment provided by the carrier so i always have at least a book, my Ipod and some other stuff with me to take my mind off being crammed into a flying thuna can ;-)
And a double-decker tuna can for that matter? I'm only guessing, because I didn't know that the A330 has an upper deck upstairs like the b747 and A380. So while I'm at it, does any other airplane have an upper deck besides the B747 and the A380?
