Honestly, my issue with Apollo was that his character and backstory felt very underdeveloped, like the game was too afraid to let go of Phoenix Wright and let Apollo do his own thing.
Thankfully the sequels fixed all the issues I had with him and now I consider him a mainstay in the franchise. I do recomend still playing Apollo Justice, but honestly only to give context to where he came from.

I don't know about that last part. The 1st and 2nd really aren't developed a lot. Namely, the 1st doesn't do much for Apollo's character since he doesn't get any of the information revealed in it, and the 2nd one expects you, the player, to care about a character that you pretty much never see prior to the game's plot. Now that 3rd one though... that was good.

    Honorable Mentions:
    *No Man's Sky
-The devs DID NOT GIVE UP on this game, and frequently added in features promised at launch. Now, from what I read, No Man's Sky is now better than it was before and totally worth it.
    *Star Wars Battlefront 2 (2017)
-Disney: Those aren't gameplay mechanics, those are extortion practices!
EA: ...I don't understand the difference.
Around March 2018, EA swallows it's pride and overhauls the entire gameplay progression, now all characters and vehicles are unlocked from the getgo. It's as if they had a realization that people actually HATE to be extorted.
    *Street Fighter 5
-The launch was too lean and light on content for a full price game. Thankfully, meaty expansions restored it to what glory it was supposed to have.
    *Final Fantasy 14
-The only thing that could save this game was to nuke it and start anew. And... it worked. A Realm Reborn reintroduced Final Fantasy 14 as a beloved MMORPG with a thriving player base.

I generally don't get upset when a game series tries something new, I always try to be open-minded about things, and it's entirely thanks to that exact mind-set that I even gave spin-off games with unusual or entirely new mechanics a genuine try, and in quite a few cases I actually enjoyed those changes. Good examples of this would be the Yu-Gi-Oh! spin-off games: The Falsebound Kingdom (a Gamecube title that turns what was originally a card game into a turn-based RPG in the vein of something like Final Fantasy, and actually has 3 storylines [though the third story is "hidden" until you complete both Yugi & Kaiba's story modes], and it also heavily encourages replaying the game at least twice) and The Duelists of the Roses (a PS2 title that uses a very different dueling style and adds the Deck Leader mechanic....which sadly has never been revisited since).
I can see why Duelists of the Roses floundered and struggled when it first came out, due to how the game can be rather difficult at the start until you get your hands on some better cards, or when your opponent has a field that they hold the advantage on and that you have a disadvantage on (for instance if you used a Fairy deck against an opponent with a Spellcaster deck and on a Darkness field) but I really think that if Duelists of the Roses were to have been released in modern times (or given a modern remake/remaster) that it would do very well, especially with the addition of online play.

Meh, main problem is that Pokemon has the Dynasty Warriors problem. Shittons of titles, very little evolution/change. And with most of them not having great stories or other reasons to play outside of the main loop they get very samey after a few gens. Arceus is the first title in a long time that has meaningfully done something different. Which is why I prefer to play other games like Nexomon Exctinction instead. The newer pokemon titles may or may not be the best games in the series but after 20 years of being bombarded with pokemon games the formula is just really stale for me. Some people are superfans that could buy a new pokemon game every year and love it. But for the rest of us, the formulae becoming so familiar makes minor flaws stand out more because the core loop has less and less pull due to over familiarity. So I'm technically still a gen oner, I'm just not gonna go out of my way to poop in other people's soup. Though I know those same super fans would gladly go out of their way to be shitty to me for having a differing opinion.

10 - Halo 2 will always be the best in the franchise, as far as i'm concerned, i dont HATE any of the other games but Halo 2 was the one that impressed me the most, it took the first game and refined it's gameplay while continuing the story and even setting up a secondary protag in the Arbiter.
9 - wait... people hated Kirby's Epic Yarn?? why? i mean i get it the art gimmick has been seen before but i dont see how anyone can think it's anything less than a fun and artistic take on Kirby. and people wonder why triple AAA gaming doesnt really take risks anymore...
8 - ok, i can see why the hate was strong with this one... you never turn a beloved protag into an asshole.
7 - agreed, Battle Network was so sequel-saturated Capcom basically pulled a Guitar Hero with the franchise, even a good gameplay system can get old really fast.
6 - oh boy, dont even get me started about Paper Mario's decline. Nintendo is driving me ballistic with how they keep relying on DUMB gimmicks instead of just sticking to the original games' formula. biggest case of "if it aint broke, dont fix it" EVER...
5 - Sonic Heroes was far from disliked in my eyes, i thought it was fine... now Shadow The Hedgehog was better than people give credit. yes it's buggy, yes it's edgy, but Sonic Team dared to take a risk with that game. a risk that backfired yes... but i wholly applaud ST for that, it's better than Sonic 06 that's for sure!
4 - people hated Fusion? oh FFS... change can be a good thing people... seriously! save your hate for Other M, that deserves ALL the hate and then some!
3 - New Vegas IS the best in the franchise, especially thanks to the modding community who turned that game into "Skyrim with Guns" in the best way possible. Fallout 4 to me though is still a step in the wrong direction, leaning even more into FPS and less of an RPG... and let me tell you modders had a tougher time than they should've when modding for it... also Bethesda monetized mods... yikes...
2 - i wasnt sold on the cel-shading myself when i saw the ads, but when i started playing it, that was the only thing that i DIDNT like about Wind Waker, so to me that's a sign that it was a great game. that being said Twilight Princess is equally fantastic, the only thing i disliked in that was the Wolf Howling. the Nintendo Gamecube was a great console and i hate that it went underappreciated for so long.
1 - as a Pokemaniac i can confirm how childish the fanbase can be... personally the only main series Pokemon game that i didnt enjoy was Black and White, not because of the story, characters or the Pokemon themselves mind you... but for a region that was based on the USA, it felt constricting AF... seriously that game gives me claustrophobia the same way that Final Fantasy 13 did for people, only it didnt get much less constricting towards the end... it's obvious that they pushed the DS to it's very limit making Gen 5 and i dont hate that... i just dont want to be left feeling like a region is way too small for comfort.

Shadow the Hedgehog sucks. Sonic and the Black Knight is the true hidden gem of the franchise. The best story in the Sonic series and the last story to actually be good, amazing soundtrack and the absolute pinnacle of Crush 40, and extremely fun gameplay. (made even better on an emulator with the motion controls mapped to buttons) I have no clue why people hate black Knight unless they REALLY don't like motion controls. Or they stopped playing halfway through at the false ending and didn't get to the best parts of the game where the big twist happens and you unlock different styles and other playable characters.

Mass Effect 3, how could it not make that list?
Seriously, outside the various flavors of "Pew Pew" and satisfying character moments, a great portion of the writing was SUPER stupid, like if we got it from Joss Whedon in his latter years. Stupid action after stupid action, like the Dalatrass making you either choose between her fleets or the Krogans, Kai Leng being a thing (seriously, he's a sword-wielding combination of ALL THREE CLASSES), Mordin's death is both sad and terribly stupid given the first article on this list, the fact that the game's story arrests you whether or not you've played Arrival or if you cut your ties with Cerberus, and then the four flavors of "F*** you" called the Ending. I can understand the idea of choosing your ending, but why not make it based on all your choices in the full series? Leaving it as it was just left other choices in the game as pretty much pointless, and making it to where the only choice that actually HAS an effect on the series is the final choice in the series.
And then the gameplay; St. Martha Above, the gameplay. You know you've screwed up your programming when one button has up to FOUR FUCTIONS. Seriously, on Xbox, the A button is the strafe-roll-run-interact button if I remember correctly. As well as how the story just divulged into an ultra-linear shooter with waves of three factions of enemies where it boils down to "Shoot-walk-Cutscene; Shoot-Walk-Cutscene." Even down to how hacking into safes or secret doors became as easy as literally pushing one button: the A button. No skill with pattern recognition, problem solving, or even Simon Says like the first game on console.
Admittedly something I hate the least is how the Paragon-Renegade system became a fully-fledged morality system, instead of how it was originally more of a split between a Polite and Professional playthrough and a Rough and Rude playthrough. True, it's had a hunt towards moral systems in the first game, but it slowly became more morally-structured as the series went on.
At least the DLC was good. Citadel is one of my favorite DLC in the series, I even liked the Battle arena because it felt like I was using Shepard's military prowess to entertain and win the best armors in the game. I was bummed that Legendary Collection omitted it, but I don't hate it.

14:15 THANK YOU! When I first found out about Unleashed as a kid (and eventually got to play it on the Wii), I thought every Sonic fan back then was crazy for calling it one of the worst Sonic games ever made. I loved Unleashed on the Wii, and I was able to play it recently on the PS3 and it was even better! I kind of blame Werehog for everyone's hatred of the game as a whole, but the Werehog stages were not NEARLY as bad as people said (in fact I like them just as much as the Day stages and consider them a necessary break from the fast-pace action of the Day stages). It's just unfortunate that Sonic fans tend to favor the Genesis trilogy (plus Generations and Mania) WAY too much and hate literally every other Sonic game outside of those five. There are too many Sonic games from the 2000s that deserves more love (Advanced trilogy, Rush trilogy, Riders duology, etc.) and, I'm just gonna come out and say it, the Genesis trilogy, Generations, and Mania have been oversaturated to the point where I'm getting sick of people focusing on those games and basing fan games off of them and them alone (like seriously, I would love to see some fan games that try to expand the Werehog gameplay or the mechanics from Riders).

Huh. I never knew that Gen. 5 was hated back then. I remember lots of people being excited about it for the changes it does to the tired formula. I really love that the 151 Pokemon are entirely new since it balances out the newcomers and experts. Newcomers can know the basics of the series without having to play the other games while experts have to relearn everything to know what’s ahead. With the amazing story, fleshed our characters, an amazing region, awesome new Pokemon, a beautiful soundtrack and graphics, and HMs being less necessary, I still find it the best in the series. It’s such a shame the next game afterwards, X and Y, felt so forgettable and safe that I find it the weakest in the series.
I dunno. While Team Yell are definitely bad, I still think Team Flare from X and Y are still worse, especially that they are inconsistent with their tone. Lysandre being serious yet his crew is all silly made you question if they’re even the same team. 🤦‍♀️

I don’t care what people say, I liked Sword and Shield. The Gym Leaders are some of the most memorable in the series, the rivals consisted of almost all variations in past titles, and a damn good set of starters (as in, I could a team around any of them and they’re all pretty good on their own). Great video!
There is one game that got hated on when it came out. The game was Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. The game is fantastic and made many improvements over DKC Returns.
DKC Returns & Tropical Freeze were made by Retro Studios - who also made the Metroid Prime trilogy. When Tropical Freeze was announced, there were some people that got mad that it wasn't a new Metroid game and just hated Tropical Freeze. It's completely unfair because Tropical Freeze was actually really good. I'm glad that it got a second chance and was re-released onto the Nintendo Switch. Now some people are beginning to realize that DKC: Tropical Freeze is a great game.
I understand some people wanted a new Metroid game, but I felt like hating on DKC Tropical Freeze was completely unfair and unwarranted.

I remember that I wasn't the biggest fan of Gen 5 when it first came out. It was an odd time for me, as it was when I stopped caring about the anime, I was pretty disappointed with Mystery Dungeons Gateways to Infinity, and I was also going through some phase, wondering what I was starting to like and dislike. Now-a-days, I do love Gen 5. It is not my favorite gen, and I honestly wasn't a big fan of Team Plasma, but the games were indeed fun, and White 2 is up there high on my favorite Pokemon games.
To be brutally honest, I don't have a Gen that I outright hate. Sure I wasn't the biggest fan of Sword, and Brilliant Diamond was a huge disappointment for me, but there were still things from Gen 8, I do admit to liking. Like Legends.
So, with Gen 9 being announced, I do share the concerns that it was announced a bit too early, but I am curious on how the game will turn out.

Extinction was ahead of its time adding magnificent gameplay mechanics like different classes , a level up system, and even the Intel in the game is way f****** better than Cold war zombies. Even the multiplayer was pretty fun. Hell, I even quote the Dante vs Agnus cutscenes pre and post battle to this day thanks to it being an homage/parody of Shakespeare! Like with Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance, and among others imo, it's a fun and worthy game in spite of it's flaws! In the Special Edition version of DMC4, we get to play as Trish, Lady, and Vergil who gets their own stories which upon playing DMC5 we can understand smoothly!

It got one of the biggest media firestorms that any game has ever seen (to the point where the Game Awards hosts were mocking the game when it won an award!) and was considered "dead" a few months after launch, but then the devs not only rebuilt the trust of the fanbase, but also grew the game, added stuff that wasn't even mentioned, won more awards years after launch, have continued to support the game for 8 years after launch and did all of this without charging a single penny more than the base cost of the game (They didn't make a single update for the game paid, some of which are so massive, they are on par with some of the best expansion packs, nor did they make VR a paid feature like other games).
