The MDA Labor Day Telethon was an enchanting yearly variety show that ran for half a century. Hosted for many years by Jerry Lewis, the telethon featured top stars from the world of music, comedy, and Broadway and was like no other show on earth.
The telethon was created to help support the Muscular Dystrophy Association, which is leading the fight against muscular dystrophy. MDA dedicates itself to strength, independence and life. To learn more about MDA and to donate, please visit www.MDA.org.
The important thing is how much fun she’s having while performing. It’s joy we’re watching, not just the music they’re making.

Incredible singer. Incredible kind, fun, human being. Dream dinner party for fun conversation: Judy, Liza, Vincent Price, Joan Rivers, Joan Crawford, Bette Davis, Noel Coward, Talulah Bankhead, Bette Miller, Johnny Carson, and Elaine Stritch. Honorable mention: Kathy Griffin, Debbie Reynolds, Carrie Fisher. I’ll sit quietly at the children’s table, and just film it for you all.
It’s her smoking that deepened her voice.
