- What is inflammation? Inflammation is a complex response to harmful stimuli which could be from a pathogen, but also could be from trauma or toxins. The response involves blood vessels dilating and becoming more permeable, and attracting more immune cells and fluid into local tissue. Find our full video library only on Osmosis: osms.it/more.

As someone who doesn't study anything in this area ... I somehow still got this. Nice explanation
Caroline. You are magic
Understanding it is pretty easy
It's the remembering every term that pokes me in the booty

liar.. I think.. because how bored could one possibly be to watch a random "Inflammation" video
You literally explained everything in 8 minutes that took professor 3 hours to explain in class. I gave up half way writing notes, he was all over the place. TY!
Always glad to assist in your medical studies, Ashley! 🙌🏼
As I watch this I still don’t understand how people cannot or will not believe in a creator of life. The way we have been created is so complex and detailed, it proves that there is an intelligent creator behind all of this. And this is only taking one small aspect of the human body. If you look further into plants, animals or our galaxy, how do you not see the clear evidence - life was created.
I am a final year biochemistry student and before I dive into a topic for exams I often watch your videos just to job my memory about the basics. Really helpful overviews of topics to help me get back into the nitty gritty!
Thank you Jordan, we value your feedback! We appreciate your support towards our videos :) Best of luck with your studies!

Thanks Osmosis- this is my first ever topic at medical school and I love these easy to understand videos and visualisations!
I knew all this stuff while learning physiology 2 years ago, I can't believe how much I forgot. Thanks for the reminder.
It is not the part of physiology. It is pathology. You forgot the subject as well
With all due respect.
In my college physiology classes includes learning about white blood cells and their responses. I am on my last year and I work with patients already. Does it really matter to you if I mixed up the subjects.
@@DJQ401 no, they didn't. I learnt this in Physiology as well in Year 1. I'm studying General Pathology now in Year 2 and also came back here to refresh my memory.
Very nice and easy way to understand 😇
Helpful to get the orientation right before diving deep into the textbook.
The beauty of medicine is meticulously explained in the inflammation response that is highly-organised reaction against any foreign particle!
Thanks Osmosis!!!
Thanks for the feedback, Aziz! 🙏🏼
Nice, seems like I'll be watching your videos quite often now...
A "Dr" implanted 12" alloy stents in my iliac veins unnecessary but he was offered kickbacks in a clinical trial. I was not informed of this. I was told I had an obstruction. I was healthy. I now have inflammation with PMR. I'm 74.
Thank you thank you thank you!!!

i think i do have chronic inflammation in my finger that was caused from an old joint injury, since i do have permanent joint swelling.. could the chornic inflammation in my finger that was caused from the injury actually spread to other parts of the body and cause chronic diseases or even cancer?.. since in general chronic inflammation is one of the risk factors for developing chronic diseass or cancer or is the inflammation in my finger localized and wont spread out?

Perfect stuff!
Quick question VERY URGENT, I'm writing a paper on the pathophysiology of the muscles caused by WHIPLASH (WAD). because theres no open wound and its on the muscles does the inflammatory response differ. for ex: will there still be pathogens in the equation and muscles diffrent in the repAIR PART?
I have an illness that causes inflammation of the brain (not fun) and I really appreciate this breakdown. It can be confusing to figure out what exactly is happening.

I have inflammation in my body. When I stress I feel sick in my tummy. Acid burning feeling. My joints hurts the next day. My tummy is swollen. I do take antacid tablets every morning.
What can help repair the damage
4:45 which cells are responsible for releasing chemoattractant chemokines?
All I know is I’m tired of suffering and going from doctor to doctor and still suffering. The “ Pain & Burning especially in my chest “ clock is running out…..
Sorry to hear (aka - read). I suggest you skip the Doctors and visit a nutritionist instead. Generally speaking - there are several things we should do to be healthy: Stop with the bad stuff (smoking, drinking, drugs, junk processed "food", sitting too much for too long), clean up the mess inside our bodies (I am tired of the word "detox" as it has become a marketing scheme but greens and lots of them do a good job of cleaning our bowels) and then start doing all the good stuff: Plenty of sleep, minimal stress, optimism, exercise, sunlight (at least 20 minutes every day), nutrition (whole foods, mostly plants, no processed junk), no or minimal exposure to chemicals, pollutants and radiation. Also get your blood tested every 6 months and if you have any deficiencies - eat foods that contain these missing nutrients and if necessary - take supplements. Hope this advice helps and hope you get well soon. Being healthy and having a strong immune system is so important now - during these trying times.
THANKS😀
Most welcome! 💕
kuarzkazart made a video similar to that about immunity I was surprised to find out I knew a lot of this stuff

Sometimes after a workout I get sick I have loss of appetite and stomach pains
Nice video as usual. But I expeted you will mention the non-specific blood tests which indicate inflammation such as hs-CRP (C-reactive protein) and ESR (Erythrocyte sedimentation rate) ? and D-dimer tests ?

Is there any difference between angiogenesis and neovascularization ?
Angiogenesis can often be pathogenic in nature as it is employed pathological states such as cancer. Neovasculization is a part of the tissue repair response as far as I know and is non pathological in nature.

Muscle knots are due to inflammation right ?
my professor says when tissue is first injured, it is vasoconstriction, but i dont get the point when and why it happens. is it before the macrofage and mast cell detect the tissue damage? as i read book, it doesnt explained the exactly reason for the vasoconstriction. could someone help to explain this? thank youu
that immediate vasoconstriction is to stop bleeding due to injury.
