    I like this product, but they have allowed so much wood to be filtered in there to weight the bag down. It's kind of disappointing now. It's not 100% cow manure, unless cows started eating wood.

    Does that bag contain 100% cow manure or is it mixed with 90% sand? Other cow manure you buy has a lot of sand and little manure. The way you were turning the bag around made it look like heavy sand.

    XXXcellent review!!! I live in a Southeast Kansas town of abt. 11,000 and we have Orscheln, Walmart, True Value, and ( my "gurus" ),TLC Garden Center . I refuse to put any brand down, but I'm an 80 yr. old 5 year amateur and I live in "for-real farm country "! It's tough to get "little guy" info, except for good old Google (...which has tried to replaced grandma...). I just have to say a huge THANK YOU! For something we amateurs are kinda blank on.

    I am really disappointed with Black Kow compost. OR maybe it’s Lowe’s I should be disappointed with. Years ago we used to be able to buy 50lb bags of this stuff for less than 6 bucks a bag. A few years ago I noticed they switched to 35 lb bags for the same price. Today I noticed the bag no longer shares the exact weight but only the cubic foot coverage and the price per bag was nearly 7 dollars. Their bags are definitely shrinking and the price for what amounts to about a cubic foot of compost is nuts. Between my neighbor’s chickens and rabbits and my sky sunflowers I can generate about a thousand pounds of comparable fertilizer every 30-60 days.

      I believe that the cow waste material may contain antibiotic residue and add-ones from the cow’s feed. It is specifically NOT an organic product as the cows are not fed organically, aren’t vaccines/nutritionally supplement free and do not free range. Now THAT sort of manure would be cha-Ching $$$$!!!

    • @joniboulware1436
      @joniboulware1436 Před rokem +6

      Nitrogen is the main nutrient in manure. Nitrogen causes growth of algae and other green weeds in waterways thus removing oxygen needed by fish and other water life. There can be excess salts and other minerals in manure as well. Good for supplying nutrients to soil based plants,, not water.

    My concern is if the cows have been fed hormones, steroid etc and this is in the manure? I know it says that its an organic way to amend your soil but from what I understand it does not say the source meaning which cows, if the cows have been fed organic grain or gmo etc.
