  • In the late 90’s, Blackstreet released their second studio album called, Another level. The project was a commercial success, coming in at number 3 on the billboard 200 and is currently sitting at over 4 million copies sold. The first single off the album is the unforgettable no diggity.
Interestingly Enough, Dr.Dre produced no diggity for Tupac. Suge offered the beat to Tupac, inteding for it to land on Pac’s all eyes on me album however at this point, Dre was trying to get out of his Death row Records contract and decided to sell the beat to Teddy Riley instead. Furious at this move, Pac recorded and dropped a diss track at dre sampling the original no diggity beat however backstreet issued death row a cease and desist order, preventing the distribution of the record. In response, Death Row records dropped an updated version of the record titled Toss it up after Pac's death.

Because they keep redefining what #1 is. If you search, you'll be confused as to whether it was Lauryn Hill or Cardio B but no mention of Queen Pen. But I remember it being alot of hoopla about QP when that song came out. I also think it was why she thought she could take a long hiatus and jump back into things, bc she made Billboard...🤷🏾‍♀️

One of my favorite female rappers. I always felt like she should've been way bigger because she was rugged and could rap but, also made really dope party tracks. Anytime she was on a beat with an old party song sample she killed it. Seems like she could've easily worked with pop singers and artist from other genres while still keeping her hip hop fans because she gave off authentic street energy. Another great video. All of the careers of his female artist suffered- Jhene, Gyrl, Tg4, Smooth, Brandy, etc... the only Reason Brandy was successful was because her mom took over managing her career. And Jhene only started blowing up after she left the T.U.G. camp, because they only released her singles after B2K albums, but never her own album. Now, everyone knows who Jhene is. While credited to Teddy Riley, the musical backing is actually an incognito production by Dr. Dre, who was in the process of extricating himself from his label Death Row Records.[citation needed] The beat to "No Diggity" was initially offered to rapper 2Pac for his Death Row debut All Eyez On Me by label boss Suge Knight, but with Dre leaving the label he sold the beat to Teddy Riley. Upon the release of the finished recording by Blackstreet, Tupac and Death Row responded with a diss track containing numerous insults aimed at Dr. Dre over an instrumental sampling "No Diggity", but were forced to replace the production after Blackstreet issued the label with a cease and desist order stopping them from distributing the song.[7] An updated version of this response, "Toss It Up", would be released under his Makaveli alias just days after his death, featuring, ironically, Aaron Hall.

Dr.Dre had nothing to do with the production of No Diggity. I wish people would stop telling that lie, as if it's a fact. That track was produced by William skillz, co-production of Teddy Riley.
But Teddy Riley got the main credit.
From a production standpoint it doesn't sound like anything Dr.Dre did during that era.
Tupac did what he always does.
Take his enemies music, remix it, and diss them all over it.
    No Diggity was no exception.
