Tory minister Steve Baker appears to launch bid to become leader of Conservative Party

- Talking to Sky's Sophy Ridge, Northern Ireland Secretary Steve Baker explained why he wants to have a run at the leadership of the Conservative Party after the election he believes the Tories will lose.
"The reality is that my colleagues have sent for me before the referendum, after the referendum, during COVID and over net zero."
The minister also appeared to have conceded the election to the Labour Party and warned that Sir Keir Starmer "will have practically untrammelled power," if he wins a supermajority.

With a majority of just 1 a British Government can in fact rewrite the entire British constitution is they so wish. The supermajority thing is a nonsense in UK politics, it’s an American term and reference to the 60 votes needed in the Senate to pass constitutional amendments.

The wonderful Sophy Ridge with her incisive and demanding journalistic skills. Forever cozying up to the Conservatives in the most shameful biased ways imaginable. A sad state of affairs of the completely right-leaning TV and written main-stream media. It's no wonder the UK is in the state it is. I'm so glad I left, it's sickening to my stomach to witness this.
