Welcome back!!!!! I didnt buy a single Funko product in 2023, every thing got out of hand over there
In Europe it is difficult to get even the common ones and the convention specials sell out in seconds in the Funko Europe store.
I agree overproduction is what is killing Funko. Part of what made collecting fun for me was the thrill of getting up on the SDCC release day to get 1 or 2 limited pops, and to be honest I never would never be upset if I missed out, it was just fun to have a chance. I think it’s interesting which lines are getting multiple pops and which lines are kind of stopped.
I think Funko is doing great me personally . It's nice to casually buy a pop . No one want to pay after market for pops . It's boring and makes the hobby less interesting this is hobby it's supposed to be fun not stressful
Its Funko trying to please the Shareholders and not their fans, the shareholders want to see the temporary gains so they can short their stock. Funko should of never been on wallstreet but they got greedy and its bleeding them dry.
Welcome Back!! You nailed it! I look forward to your insightful perspective on Funko especially the NFT's. Glad to have you back Buddy.
I definitely think Funko treating pops like toys is probably the biggest problem, and I definitely agree on every thing else you said.
I agree with your second point BIG TIME. I have not felt heard by funko in a long time. And to your point the last time I felt like they were listening was when it was common to miss out on some if not all figures. They are out of touch and have lost site of the community. I have no clue why celebrity is pushed so hard. I think the biggest example was snoop Dogg. I was a big fan of a few of the figs from the event but they rung that man dry. Idk what's worse that they've been closing their circle for the past idk 3 or 4 years, or that it's been 3 or 4 years and they still don't know why they're circle is closing.
Overproduction def killing Funko right now. So much ends up on the clearance shelf and eventually the trash/thrift shops. All I really have to gripe about. We are collecting toys in the end 😂 cheap ones too. When I see a dope figure I like at $100 I say “let me find the Funko pop!” Lol
Welcome Back. Your vids were responsible for getting me involved in WhatNot.
I agree that Funko is out of touch with their core audience. They need to realize they were not a Toy Company, so to appeal to children is in my opinion a bad move.
They’ve overproduced versions of certain Pops in the Star Wars & Marvel sectors, and that too hurt them. (i.e. Grogu & Groot for examples)
I look forward to your future vids and your opinion on them re-releasing Pops that were supposed to be “Vaulted” but then producing a huge quantity of them, devalued those figures in the secondary market.
I believe that the new Bitty Pops are terrible. Quality is low and now we’re potentially getting like Bitty Moments. They should have stayed at the Keychain size as they retain a nice level of detail, but remove the chain and let ppl enjoy pops at that size or use that size for small characters
To be fair about all that changed in funko is the need to want to collect everything.
I will say they need to tone it down on the amount of things they release each year. I feel like they release more waves each year.
With the funkos not being limited, I personally like knowing I can get my hands on the pop I want. I personally dislike staying up having to make sure I preorder everything, or have to wait in hour long lines, or risk missing out because scalpers, bots, resellers bought all the stock.
Awesome that you back. You have a outlook on funko pops.
I definitely in agreement on the overproduction, but I feel the Funko pop communities so in love with it !!that they get angered by it !! Because nobody attacks for an example …Pokémon cards. Seems like nobody cares how much cards they make they just want more. ! Maybe it’s because they’re flat and don’t take up much space …Funko pops can take up your entire living room in one year of modest collecting, is their anger, mainly towards themselves for buying too much
😂😂 I don’t know !!but welcome back. Keep up the good work. !!
Funko pop collectibles and trading cards are way different. Like you said, the space they take up is one thing, but it’s primarily the rarity factor and collectibility. Opening up packs and being able to pull a $100+ chase card brings excitement and thrill. Funko pops you’re basically buying the one you want then you’re done. That’s why pokemon and a lot of other trading card games profit so well is because it’s all a mystery on what you’ll pull. So it keeps you buying more. And on top of that, pokemon has a way larger fanbase due to there being games, shows, toys and other collectibles outside of just cards. There’s way more ways to be invested in the hobby.
They need to bring the price of a common down… Im in Canada and you buy a pop for $30 and if ya look it up it’s worth $7 now yes you buy what appeals to you but it’s like buying a Lamborghini with no engine🤣
They tried tending to the collectible side at Fundays last year but... we know whaat happened there.
You’re always welcome back bro 💪🏾
Batman is definitely a bad example just because they do have the first appearance and then everyones favorite bathman forever with jim carrey. But totally agree with everything in the video
My favorite Funko CZcamsr!!! Fall back in love so I can continue to watch videos!!!
I believe overproduction had a big part in it. A few variants is cool. Also the games, Funko minis, and especially Funko Gold are not my fav as a fan. Think they should stay with what got them there. There are so many new ideas out there for new pops. The 1 thing I did like was the Pop yourself Funko Pops.
They need to make more Wakanda Forever and Eternals Pops 🤥
When I started getting into Pops, I easily had close to 100 and it was getting out of hand. Especially with variants of popular characters. I ended up selling all the ones I didn't need keeping only the ones I like most or got to get signed at Cons. Other than that I stopped collecting. The hobby is boring now
I agree with everything you said! I thought Funko would be dead by 2024 with all the mistakes it's made! I love Snoop Dog, but 10 pops in a few months?
“BITTY POPS😀!!” Hate that damn ad😭
Bruh!
HUGE MISS on bitty pops...
I keep hoping. They need to definitely stop making the same thing over and over. I few pops of the same person is ok but how many do we need of Batman or Spiderman? And I really like them both. The boxes of fun was a mess too.
Agree
Yeah funko shop should be limited. No reason Marco is only a $30 pop
It’s nuts.. so many of the same characters of stars wars, Batman, Spider-Man and anime. They flooded the market so much I barely look at new funkos. I pretty much stopped collecting in late November. I would only really want to see new characters. Cut the diamond, cut glitter, cut art series, cut gingerbread, cut the valentine, cut Christmas pops. Limited pieces should be capped at 500.
Preach! How many Demon Slayer variations do we need?
The c-vid boom across different hobbies like cards and action figures caused companies to overproduce things. It takes a couple years especially with toy production for items in the pipeline to shake out and release. 2023 should have been the last of the overproduction for the toy companies. Production should go back to what it was pre pandemic.
Yup! Almost no choice😂
I remember you from the sneaker community that's how i found you for funko pops i did the same transition
Wild! Lol
Please don't wait a week before your next upload! I def want to hear your thoughts on the NFT stuff before i get involved.
He likes them! He’s done videos on them before, go check them 🔥
@@merlinparache1681You are mentally insane if you support a creator who likes NFTs….
overproduction killed it for me. I didn't need 10 Dekus. I went from 400 pops down to 54 pops. If i buy anymore pops it would be Bleach pops but it looks like they could start making to many of them.
2 million groots and deadpool
Way too much over production no rush thrill just wait till goes on sale or to 5 below. When was the last stand alone character that was limited without a bag. I Think Roodles. Lol other problem is funko customer service for me got tired of stuff damaged or missing and funko saying just deal with it. I pretty much stopped just focus older pieces now.
I only collect WWE Funko pops. I have 123 of them
I simply can't agree with you on making funko shop exclusives even rarer. Some are almost impossible to get as is unless you camp out on their site or have time to be on it when it drops. Another thing is they have 2 physical stores on the west coast and the hell with everybody else it seems. You're right about one thing though. I bet half the pops in the landfill is batman, deadpool and groot.
Because unfortunately they want to flip them these people want to flip pops to resell which im Not fan of. this is supposed to be a fun hobby not A miserable one . flippers want to make this hobby miserable for us hardcore collectors unfortunately. Thank fully funko does make enough pops to meet demand. Otherwise these guys would want to sell 10 pop for 150$ which is ridiculous cause some people can bark afford rent let alone pay a flipper 140$ plus extra for a pop that shouldbe ten bucks for fun
@@thewatcher9500 you're absolutely right
I think you said it all. Overproduction is a huge problem. And using influencers would be huge!
Over priced over hyped
You didn’t show us the only Funko you bought! 😂Agree with all these points. Make exclusives more scarce! The word exclusivity has been lost recently for sure. Not as fun to find chases or convention exclusives anymore
I agree overproduction is a huge problem for Funko, they should focus on limited edition pops and limited pieces, like why would I need 20 pops of the same anime character or Batman, Spiderman... Get me shiny pokemon variations, get me a kingdom come Superman, Red Son Superman, Arrowverse Pops...
Also why when a new movie is about to be released, they have to make common pops of characters no one will buy, example THE FLASH 2023 the Barry Allen in a Onesie pop who bought that?
Listen, been in the game for a minute... 𝄞 🎶
