    ...ive been carving since i was 5 now 26. i always used the drill to make the pattern on the pumpkin, take off the paper, and then carve the pumpkin. jeez that method looks so much easier and a time saver.

    all I wanna say is thanks So much for the Many Great Years growing up as long as i can remember with my mom, Dad and grandparents, then buying your books from 1992-2006. I was born on 94 so from 98 what my mom and grandma's on both sides me loving gutting the pumpkin for the seeds for later to eat, and then when i got older to remember i loved carving and looking thru those books we have and still have some of those old books. Thanks for the Fun filled Carving years helped bring us together in those times, hope you stay around for my future kids to keep on the carving.

      When the pumpkin shrivels up the top will cave in ruining the face and making the lid unusable.
      Also cutting from the bottom makes the pumpkin last longer since the pumpkin takes nutrients from the stem, it’ll make gutting faster since the guts are attached to the bottom, and it’ll make it easier and stress less putting a candle in since all you have to do is set the pumpkin on top of it.

    I have a pumpkin masters pattern book from 1998, and man, is it different from now. The old instructions said to put a candle in it, light it, and let the flame and smoke mark the top of it to cut open a chimney for it. Now, no one recommends candles lol. Also, I dont like the whole wetting it thing. It ruins the pattern, and you cant save it. I still ha e patterns from the late 90s and early 2000s because you just trace it or poke it into the pumpkin, so it's easy to reuse. Cutting through the pattern sounds like a struggle. And for everyone saying the blades break easily, we still have the blades that came with the 1998 set, so 🤷‍♀️ lmao

    • @m.elainebates7931
      @m.elainebates7931 Před 2 lety +2

      You are so right. Im still using the tools from when they first started. It was called CARVE-O-LANTERN pumpkin carving kit and had a comb(?) binding. The book could lay flat. I stopped carving for a few years & just started back. Still using the original set w/5 saws in it. Practically got a library of pattern books because...discounts😁. But I poke holes because it makes the sawing easier. Might try this method using A COPY of the pattern. Im not gonna tear up a book...no way!

    • @cgimichaelmyers2806
      @cgimichaelmyers2806 Před 2 lety

      Scan any pattern with a printer, transfer it as a png or jpeg on your phone or computer, and then print as many as you would like.
      If you want to be a savage then send the jpegs to friends, family, or random internet strangers so they can get the patterns for free.
      For carving I recommend that you use a thin and light printing paper instead of the regular printing paper to help apply the pattern on the pumpkin.

    • @cgimichaelmyers2806
      @cgimichaelmyers2806 Před 2 lety

      Regular printing paper is a little more thicker then the paper used in the Pumpkin Master’s pattern booklet.
      If you can then find printing paper that is thin and light. That may help with applying the pattern on a pumpkin.

Wet pumpkin wont catch on fire & the votive lasts 4+ hrs. If it's cold enuff outside the pumpkin should be good a month or more. But it is a biodegradable product & will eventually expire😢

      @OfficialPumpkinMasters  Před 5 lety +2

      Hi Marakey! Make sure the wall of your pumpkin is thinned before starting the carving process. Its also best to let the saw do the work-- so with a gentle grip and only slight pressure, insert the saw then use a swift back and forth carving motion. No need for forceful pressure or to grasp the handle very tightly. The saw does all the work!

I also use a more time consuming method of imprinting the pattern in the pumpkin by outlining the pattern by poking holes with the pointed tool, this enables me to remove the paper pattern after. I dont advise this method if you dont have the time or patience

      Defeats...what purpose? The paper is the pattern. Sure, you can draw your own pattern on with a Sharpie, or just completely wing it and carve whatever comes to mind, but some people would like something fancier, and some folks who have never carved before, like a kid, want something simple to start out with.

      Some of the patterns are cool anyways plus it’s a lot more organized but that’s just my preference.

    I recently bought a carving kit! And never again will i buy it! The knifes are cheaply made and just brake when i used them! What a waste of $10.50

      Hi Fish Keeping! Can you tell us which kit you purchased? Our kits are built to withstand the pressure used while carving and sawing. To make sure your saws last, be sure to thin the wall of the pumpkin where you are going to place the design. When carving with the saw, be sure to let the saw do the work--no force is needed. Using gentle back and forth motions, saw along the pattern to achieve your design :)

      @@OfficialPumpkinMasters problem is she said 10.50 I have this same kit I don't think it was that much 🤔🤔🤔

      I don't think Fish Keeping was referring to the kit mentioned in the video. Those kits retail for $4.99.

      @@OfficialPumpkinMasters if he paid 10.50 and it broke I would feel ripped off. Mine turned out great though. Instead of the new method with water and plastic wrap, I went old school and used the little punch tool and made holes 😀😎

      Hi Chloe. I'm not sure I understand your question. What question did you have about the book that wasn't answered?
