Three Passes Route, Arthur's Pass National Park, New Zealand

Christchurch Tramping Club trip, 72 km, 3 days.
Day 1: Klondyke Corner - Carrington Hut - Harman Pass - Ariels Tarns (19.5 km, 6.5 hours)
Day 2: Ariels Tarns - Whitehorn Pass - Browning Pass - Harman Hut (18 km, 10 hours)
Day 3: Harman Hut - Lower Arahura Hut - Arahura (31 km, 9 hours)

GreatVideo, i have only seen this route up to carrington in daylight, albeit i have been well up on to harman at night, thats another story, thanks for shariing

Hey, I just added the time and distance in the description on this video based on my Strava data. We skipped some huts in the middle and I cannot remember the exact distance/time to/from those huts. However, there are some indications about the time in the Three Passes brochure from doc www.doc.govt.nz/globalassets/documents/parks-and-recreation/tracks-and-walks/canterbury/arthurs-pass-route-guides/three-passes-route-guide.pdf

I guess hitchhike might be ok, because there are cars on that road from time to time, although not many.

Thanks Mark. It will be Mount Bealey with Lambda group in two weeks. I will do the recon before that and will try to make it a Mt Bealey and Avalanche Peak loop

@@aaronzhao6337 I'd like to do Mt. Bealey with you. I'm just not fit enough yet, and would be too slow. I did Avalanche to the Crow hut and down the Waimakariri 18 years ago. I start the Routeburn on Saturday and the Rakiura track on Wednesday the 19th. Two Great Walks in a week! I look forward to the Bealey video, Aaron. Cheers

I would say yes. There could be snow/glacier at Whitehorn Pass even in summer.
