Yes please to some tie buying advice. I was excited to pick up my first tie not long ago, following your ‘always check ties’ advice. It was pure silk and YSL so thought I was onto a winner, but when I got home I was disappointed to find it wasn’t worth a great deal. A few pointers would be so helpful, thanks 🙏🏻. It depends on a number of things, especially when it comes to high end ties. For a standard silk yves saint laurent vintage ties we aim for £50-60 dependent on pattern and age. If there is something a bit more to it like a monogram or cult pattern then even more. Please also note when using comps on ebay we filter by highest first and then base our prices accordingly. Ebay will always promote lower comps in recommended to promote super fast turn arounds etc. We also cross list across, depop, vesitaire and vinted - with most of our ties selling on depop!!

100% with you on being tuned in to higher value/luxury items. Because I’m specifically looking for them, I find them (not all the time mind you). I guess having a very good visual memory helps me though.
Re- golf clubs, I started buying them last year, again, specifically looking for higher end items (research, research, research). Because they are awkwardly shaped, I set myself a minimum profit level of £30 per club or I won’t pick it up.
I’m very much a generalist reseller but heavily weighted towards clothes and shoes; I do regularly step outside of that niche, but it has to make bigger margins to be worth my time and effort. It’s all about the bangers!!!

Charity shops are just becoming physical eBay stores for pricing. Completely pointless
They use eBay now as tool or guide and don’t necessarily know how to navigate it. Nor is eBay a indicator of market value. Such a interesting topic.
@@theluxurypickers I spoke to the manager at BHF and she said they use completed listings as their rule of thumb which is crazy
