More than a year ago, i had the pleasure of presenting an amazing project, based on a BMW K100, with a fantastic customized rear monoshock suspension.
And this episode, bring us another one.
But this time, it has something never done before.
An automatic gearbox, known as Continuously variable transmission (CVT).
This is a project of Jose Lourenço(Father), Gustavo and Rodrigo Lourenço, the owners of "Retrorides By Lourenço", located in Brazil.

The Lourenço family has achieved something that just thinking about it could be a nightmare, more than a dream. But to do it finally with that degree of perfection is like reaching paradise. I am sure that the owner of this wonderful machine, beyond its physical limitations, will find a world of possibilities when traveling on this beautiful bike. I agree that it is a beautiful machine and I would say it is perfect, but it is the human aspect that attracts me to this project, to achieve something for someone who might never have the experience of simply going out on the road to enjoy the moment. I love that.

The dedication behind this build almost made me cry... It shows how far such a devouring passion could push the people to make amazing things. Last week, I had an accident with my motorcycle. It was the kind of accident that usualy kills you, but i was so lucky and i'm safe. One week later, i'm buying another motorcycle...

Eu lembro q tinha preconceito com motos, ate pq ja perdi parentes por acidente, mas dpois q comprei a minha magrela titanzinha 150, me apaixonei. Moto eh tudo de bom, da uma liberdade, e quando pega estrada entao, eh incrivel, assistir a um video desses, soh me faz ter mais vontade ainda de ter uma cafe, parabens pelo trabalho incrivel, me emociona de verdade

Everytime i learn something new. Even though automatic motorcycle transmission is nothing new but changing a manual one to automatic really is something. 👍🏼

I have always wanted to ask you something. The voice of your video is computer generated right? Not that i am complaining. Just asking. It just sounds amazing and magical. It goes hand in hand with the music and how you make the video. Simply awesome 👍🏼
Indeed it is. I use this "robotic" voice created by software, because i'm Portuguese, and my bad english accent (and voice), can ruin the documentary character that i like for my videos. I already tried a real american voice in one of my videos, but things didn't worked as i expected. Just like you said, this robotic voice sounds very good for all non english natives. Cheers.

Having just purchased my own k75 stock, this makes me extremely excited to transform it into a cafe racer, even though mine may never look as good as this one or the first. Something about these bikes, if you can look past the stock shape, have a beautiful retro-almost-futuristic look that I'm in love with, and hopefully can convey in my own build. Thank you for the great video.

I can't say that I am a fan of the color, and frankly, I'm not crazy about the tank.
However,
the choice to accommodate the rider's physical limitations, far out way anything else !
( being that I am paralyzed myself )
These gentlemen have impressive technical prowess !
Not to mention, the fortitude to take something from scratch, to reality, can often times become a much bigger challenge than expected !
So execution of this concept should be widely acknowledged !
This is a major milestone !
Incorporating this suspension system is an even greater challenge !
These gentlemen have my ultimate respect !

I was absolutely thrilled by the first K100 of the Lourenços and have definetely seen your video about it up to 100 times. For me, the new one is even more beautiful. My own K100-Project will be far away from both of them (because of my limited resources and the German regulations), but when I'm on the road with it, I will imagine to drive a bike of the Lourenços. And many thanks to you for your work and your stunning movies...

It’s amazing that they made it into an automatic but that looks a lot like the same style of drive a snowmobile has. Belts in that system dont last long and every sled has an extra under the hood plus easy access to replace it. Hopefully they made it easy to access on this amazing build.

A well conceived and implemented plan! They have employed a very high level of engineering expertise and craftsmanship to accomplish the look attained in this Café racer. Very nice bike. By the way, We finally solve the problem about the engine bad start of my CX.
It was a bad tuning of the Ignition system. We never thought that this could be the problem, and that is why we never touched it since i bought the bike last year. :) Cheers.

Excellent video. Much enjoyed with an espresso and big screen TV in HD. I particularly appreciate the original blue K100 project, it was my favourite of all. This one is almost as good. The only negative for me is the very short seat. I realise it squares with the golden ratio, but still.

I'm a little sad that there was no mention of the GT40 paint choice. That mono shock mount is amazing!! I think the builder should definitely try something like this with base model that more of monster at it's core and achieve the same goal. Over all. Beautiful!! ♥️💪

The physically limited buyer must have gotten a HUGE settlement to afford this kind of engineering. There are plenty of nice rides that he could have chosen from that can do the same thing....more or less. I have a K1200RS and don't like the bike, it's sits and gathers dust, I ride my R1100R most of the time. But that bike is a testament to what they accomplished.

I hope these guys realize how important this bike should be! if you want to really save the motorcycle industry, you need to sell to people who don't already own one. the number 1 and 2 reasons people give to not ride is the shifting and danger, in that order! put a CVT in the big cruisers first, Gold Wings etc, then work on reducing size. A daily use bike like a 900 or so with a cvt. and an ABS system controlling linked brakes. no foot controls. a twist throttle on the right. a single brake lever on the left. laugh if you want, but again to need to sell bikes to people under 50 and who DONT ALREADY OWN ONE... congrats gentlemen, you could the the wright brothers of motorcycles for the 21st century.

AMAZING!!!
With so many custom builders, it is almost impossible to create something that puts any build ahead of the latest offering. The technical skills required to do so, are lost on so many attempts. This machine by far, is the best example of what skill, design, and desire to not build another " oh, wow, another machine not much different than everything else"...
