I'm wondering on your choice of thumbnail. Was your aim to just get more views irrespective that it would be offensive to a lot of people. Saudi is trying to attract more tourists with an easy visa process and more things to do like concerts etc. That being said, it's still fairly conservative with call to prayer and a dress code which has also been relaxed somewhat. Your thumbnail showed that women can wear whatever they wanted. Even in your video, you didn't wear shorts. In the future as a TouTuber, you need to be more mindful, respectful and culturally sensitive of the thumbnail you create and publish.

There's no such term as civilized except in western terminology and based solely on the west's specific mentality. This world is not limited to the west.
There is a good, healthy, productive and succesful civilization. And then there is a bad, sick, unproductive and failed civilization. And morally speaking I think we can figure out which civilization is which. On the other hand, in other sides like economic status quo is not the subject here today.
Shalal Caffe was surreal. We took the bus on Thursday from Al Ula to Medina and on Thursdays the bus leaves at 2pm instead of 8am. With an extra morning to spare, we asked the driver to take us to check out other places before we had to go to the bus station and he said there is a unique cafe hidden amongst the rocks. Boy was it worth a visit to be able to drink Saudi coffee in such a surreal setting.
Absolutely agree with you that they do have an opportunity to improve on the transporation infrastructure. Would be hard to navigate around without a rental car or a driver; and not quite easy to book still. Of course by the time the infrastructure matures the place would be infiltrated by tourists as you mentioned.
The Prophet (blessings and peace of Allaah be upon him), when he passed by al-Hijr - which was the dwelling place of Thamood - said: “Do not enter the dwelling places of those who wronged themselves, lest there befall you what befell them, unless you are weeping.” Then he covered his head and hastened until he left the valley. Narrated by al-Bukhaari in his Saheeh from Ibn ‘Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him).

I hope the balance between ancient (the tombs in the desert) and modern (the necessary facilities to open up this area to tourists) is controlled in order to preserve the ‘romance’ of the Desert. There is something about the Saudi Desert; compelling, peaceful, beauty alternating with desolation. I drove from Dammam to Jiddah, via Riyadh and Taif, in the late 1970’s - not by choice but by necessity. It took some 16 hours and it was an experience which remains pleasurable in my memory to this day.
Do you recommend to rent a 4WD to drive from Medina to AlUla? Or is a regular car ok as well?
I’d say a normal car is fine but best to be on the safe side and have a 4WD just incase
