In this video I discuss what my job role entailed, the positives and negatives of the position and why I quit. Hi Tania, I love your content! Just a quick question, where did you find your role? Would you mind sharing the website that you applied through? Oh, and keep up the good work. Xxx

      My circumstances were quite unique as I was put forward for the role by someone who already worked within my nhs trust. But you can find these jobs on the nhs jobs website- just type that into Google and it will come up 😊

    Hello Tania. Loved the video. I was also a Bank HCA but left my job a few weeks ago. I wanted to find a job that was in a clinical setting and focused more on helping patients with mental health difficulties so this job sounds amazing. Personally I didn’t enjoy the personal care side of being a HCA which is the main train I left the job, does a MHSW have personal care responsibilities at all?

    • @taniaalexis6919

      I would say it depends on where exactly you work. I never did any personal care whilst working in forensics but have done some whilst on eating disorder wards and dementia wards. Hope that helps 😊

    I'm so glad I found your channel. I also did a Psych degree and I've got an upcoming interview for a clinical support worker in a psychiatric hospital. Do you have any tips for interviews and stuff? xx

      Oooh that’s so exciting! Congratulations! I would say to prepare for scenario questions eg what would you do if a patient threatened you or if you overheard a confidential conversation etc. There will probably be questions about safeguarding, the mental health act, how you act in times of stress, how you relax and look after yourself, as well as all the standard interview questions. Hope that helps and good luck with your interview- let me know how you get on🤞

    I’m thinking of getting into mental health support work,I’m just discouraged by the hours 🥺. How many hours did you work per shift ?

    • @taniaalexis6919
      @taniaalexis6919  Před rokem

      Day and night shifts tend to be 12.5 hours long. I also did twilight shifts which were 4pm-11pm/ 12. Now I sometimes do 12-8 on the weekends. So there’s lots of variety and it’s very flexible to work on bank 😊

      It depends on different hospitals too. My hospital you can do AM or PM shifts which are 7.5hrs, or a long day as 13.5hrs. The night shift is 10.5hrs. Sometimes there will be the option of 9-5 shifts too.

    • @taniaalexis6919
      @taniaalexis6919  Před rokem

      Before I left mine they started offering shifts at so many random times just to try and get the staff. So you could pretty much work anytime which was good

    Hi. I did Childhood and youth studies & psychology and I’ve applied for a HCSW role. Did the interview got the conditional offer letter, now I am just waiting for my DBS. Just wanted to ask how long did yours took?

    • @taniaalexis6919
      @taniaalexis6919  Před rokem

      I’ve had so many DBS checks now that I can’t remember 😂 I know some have taken longer than others but I never really notice it as there’s not been any gaps in my employment. So I wait for all the checks to be complete and then finish at one job and start the next shortly after if that makes sense.
