Its Finally Over in Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 268 and The Community Hates It

  • After over a year of non stop fighting against Sukuna running the gauntlet in Jujutsu Kaisen. It finally reached its conclusion in JJK Chapter 268 with the leaks and spoilers that came out this morning. Sukuna went out in a very pathetic way, that's very reminiscent of Envy in Full Metal Alchemist. Seems like the community overall doesn't like the direction Gege Akutami-sensei has taken Jujutsu Kaisen

We're currently left with a lot of questions. For example:
    1) What happened to Tengen and the whole merger thing?
    2) What was the point of the US army invading the culling games?
    3) What happened to the remaining CG players and reincarnated sorcerers like Uro?
    4) Since the concept of curses and Jujutsu sorcery have now been made public news even outside of Japan, how are all the normal humans reacting to all this?

The us army was used as spiritual energy to boost the culling games to the point the merger could be used ,the most likely got away still intact with there reincarnated bodies. The 4ths a good question but it’s not important to the story if it’s left unanswered it’s kinda like saying how do ppl in dragon ball react to aliens trying to destroy there planet there’s nothing u can do it’s and yes not important

I think it’s fitting Sukuna died in such a mundane way because the same has happened to other extraordinarily powerful characters. Jogo is arguably one of the strongest curse but died off screen to Sukuna technique. Toji died similarly and the same with Gojo. Each of them arguably the strongest but they died like ordinary people.
Sukuna died pathetically like the parasite he is because he needs a host. Yuji pitied Sukuna the “Person” not Sukuna the “King of Curses.”
Just because you are strong doesn’t mean you are special and can die the same as anyone else. Jogo, Toji, and Gojo didn’t get that proper send off aside from their afterlife moments. But their deaths were treated mundanely which is why we don’t see their dead body until after whatever it is they are thinking before death.

We see Sukuna get hit with the black flash, but afterwards he looks pathetic because he’s truly just a parasite and we get to see it after he leaves megumi’s body. Sukuna was always a parasite since chapter 1 but he was never viewed or referred to as such by other characters. He was always revered as king but he still died like a normal person not as a king would.

There is a reason why some of the most beloved antagonists have backstories if I may say, Askellad is a very big example from Vinland Saga. Ok look, I’m going to be completely honest and need to get this off my chest. This has been one of the most disappointing conclusions of all of battle Shounen history. The Jujutsu Kaisen story is so rushed that it had so many missed opportunities like key points, plot lines, world building, flashbacks & backstories of the Heian era and essential characters like Kenjaku & Sukuna, etc. And I know theirs going to be people like the toxic Jujutsu Kaisen fans & defenders in the comment section going to give me a hard time, and make controversial arguments with me saying somewhere around the lines like “Sukuna & Kenjaku don’t need backstories, they’re find the way they are” or “Sukuna & Kenjaku are villains of the week, you’re tripping.” Let me ask you a question, if there is a character whether it’s the protagonist, antagonist, side characters, aren’t you just a little curious for the reasons of who they are? Giving out characters (especially the main/major villains) a backstory or flashback allows us to understand the motives, benefits, and ideals of the characters since their pivotal to the plot. We know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ABOUT THEM DURING THE HIEIN ERA BESIDES THEM BEING STRONG SORCERERS. We never got much or one single flashback about them as to the reasons for the way they are. Also, this whole merger plot line gets tossed aside and never came to fruition. Sukuna or Kenjaku never even achieved that merger plan since Kenjaku did state that someone was going to inherit his will which happens to be Sukuna. Yes, I understand that the whole objective is for the Jujutsu sorcerers to stop the merger from happening, but wouldn’t succeeding in preventing the villain’s plan be a little dull, boring, and mitigates them to be threats? This is like the equivalent of Soul Eater where the Kishin-Ashura doesn’t manifest, or in Naruto if either Madara or Obito were unable to collect any of the 9 tailed beasts and summon the Ten Tails, or in Black Clover where Lucifero doesn’t make any appearance in the Spade Kingdom arc, or MCU Thanos not continuing his crusade in collecting all the Infinity Stones to create his warped views of bringing balance to the universe by killing half of the populace with a snap of his fingers. Usually when villain’s plans do succeed, it gets exciting with more suspense & tension and raises the stakes in a particular story so that the protagonist will eventually defeat that respective villain. We barely got any fight scenes with Hakari vs Sukuna’s servant either. I don’t know if Gege is either burned out from his story, weekly shounen jump is pressuring him to get it finished, or he’s just tired of his own story that he lost all passion and creativity that he just wants to get it done and over with. But hey, I can’t be too surprised, this happens to a lot of Japanese battle manga series. Anyway, I had to get that off my chest, take it as you will.

Instead of having all the characters gang up on him in a fight that drags on forever, we're just gonna nuke him. Oh he manages to survive the nuke and you thought the main character is gonna be the one that will stop him in the end? Nah, he has radiation poisoning and will spend his remaining time in one of the most emotionally moving episodes in anime history with a blind girl he just wanna play a board game with. You can see her neck has like a line of ice, i interpreted it that way. I do agree that Kenjaku was wasted thou, you are totally right about that. Everyone thought that he was going to come back because the way he died was just fucking lame. I wouldn't say that Kashimo was wasted though, he was never all that, he was just a bum. And the merger was never a plotline, it could never happen without everyone dying first, and that would have been a shit ending. It also wouldn't have worked as a final antagonist, not after Sukuna, it would have been underwhelming.
And while i do see where you are coming from, i don't think it's a Disney ending. Yeah, Yuji survived, Nobara's return is meaningless aside from an assist on Sukuna (girl has been out for most of the story, at this point there's not really a point for her returning, Gege just hates his female characters), and Megumi is somehow alive despite eating like 4 unlimited voids, 20 black flashes, and all the other shit that i lost track of (for real, he should be a special grade now, and i don't mean in strenght if you know what i mean). But i think that's ok because of how much shit they all went through, the kids deserve to at least survive to do something of their lives. But that aside, a lot of important people died, so i don't think it can be a Disney ending at all. Gojo died, Kashimo died, Higuruma died, Yuta lost his body (but they are probably going to fix that next chapter), i don't know if Kusakabe and Miguel are alive, Choso got disintegrated (that one especially stings for Yuji). - sidelines an entire fight
    - Protagonist punches the villain so hard they are ripped away from their vessel especially after the loud and proud central protagonist who was “killed” by the villain helping out

I liked this ending of jujutsu kaisen so far. It's not perfect by a long shot, and of course it's rushed, but the emotions of all of that felt amazing after all this time. I'm glad for Yuji killing Sukuna with kindness, and I'm happy to see the trio reunited after all they went through. For me, all it needs is a bit of time to soak up the emotion and atmosphere. I'm sure once the anime comes out, it will be given the theatric treatment it deserves.
