- With last night's update, Treyarch added 3 new Aim Assist types (Legacy, Precision, and Focusing) so in today's video I break down exactly how these aim assist types compare to each other to help you decide which one is best for you! Which type do your prefer and what are your thoughts on the addition of these new settings?

I want to say one of the bigger points of the differences is when there are multiple targets. How often have you snapped on multiple enemies and the Aim assist made you split your fire between them....

I can’t use standard or legacy. If aiming at a target in the distance and some one runs or jumps in front, the aim is dragged away and actually cause you to miss. This is a huge annoyance and actually hinders my ability to aim accurately. I have found precision gives me the best control.
i’ve had a lot of success with precision. i’m able to get on target a lot easier without the slowdown starting so far off target.
Yea I might have to switch back to standard for response curve then try precision for AA. The AA bubble in this game seems bigger than others.

6:08 I think the difference with focusing becomes more apparent when firing the gun. You have to be shooting the gun with the bullets narrowly missing the target to see the difference. You probably won’t see a difference if the gun is not firing.

Hello guys and Ace! I just saw that they stealth buffed the Bruiser Underbarrel Grip. I remember that the grip gave + 40% melee quickness pre patch, now it gives + 3% to movement, sprinting move, shooting move and aim walking move speed.
Just as an example, I like precision because the large bubble of standard messes up my shot.

Reveal distance is how far away you can see somebody easier while not aiming down sight.There will be a dot above their character making them easier to see. Reveal distance (ADS) is the same thing but you have to Aimed Down Sights for it to work
Definitely recommend the flashlights. They're honestly very powerful, since the visibility is so bad in this game.

Hey Ace! I did a video of this too with emphasis on snipers! With snipers and Quickscoping, precision seems to have the strongest aim assist! Its going to be a game changer for anyone on controller that was having a hard time before!

Considering that I've had my aim move away from a target while ADS with standard assist, I think I'll try out precision or focusing.
Apparently it is identical in precision and focusing (jgod did a video). Blows my mind they added a bunch of different aim assist modes and not a single one of them fixes the most broken aspect.

Update: it didn't help. Today i had more instances where I'm fighting the aim assist and I'll probably just turn it off
So annoying. Not only are the multipliers in multiples of ten instead of one, making me play on either too slow or too fast, I've also got this stupid AA shit making it even harder to keep up with moving targets.

Play at .25x speed
The slowdown starts to slow down very slightly at about the same as standard but doesn’t significantly slow down until you’re closer to the target.

Treyarch needs to get aim assist off snipers. Getting drag scoped every single game is really putting me off this game as a whole. Especially now that there is no flinch and a long average ttk.

Also fireteam dirty bomb is bugged. Weapon do does not track properly after the match is finished only during. E.g. I got a weapon to level 29. Once I finished the game it went backwards to level 26. Now I have higher level attachments equipped even though I apparently haven’t “unlocked” yet. This recent update messed it up as it used to work before this update.
Maybe the differences come into play if the target is moving?

I wish there was no aim assistance
The main problem I have is it seems like enemies many times have an invisible force field around them that prevents me from hitting them. If they’re moving and I’m moving my aim towards them and I start shooting my aim will stop moving towards them and even sometimes move in the opposite direction.
Not a comprehensive test since there was no testing on moving targets.
Which aim assist is more like MW2019? I found that switching from between MW to CW felt off and MW felt better than CW.
Legacy was the one used in MW Warzone.

Also recommend turning your dead zone down on the controller. Helps it feel a lot tighter

The only thing I have to say is that I don't want anyone complaining about the snipers needing an ads buff anymore. The m82 definitely needs a damage buff but then ads settings will help snipers a lot
The aim assist does feel slightly better with the addition of the update last night, and my shots feel a little more precise, legacy is pretty good actually.

I know this is a really old comment but I hate this so much, to the point where I've considered turning it off all together. I run 7 sense and I'll be tracking someone running past me, and I'll have my stick fully to the left/right where it should zoom to, but instead they outrun it due to the slowdown

Would have loved to see how aim assist behaves when your target is also moving. I feel like those are the situations where I feel aim assist working against me the most.
I think that's the issue with the standard aim assist because the bubble is so far ahead. When a player moves and you try to aim on them, the huge bubble picks up the aim and stops it (like on a previous Ace video). I'll probably try out precision so that cant happen

Idk if it’s true or not but I think it’s so that the aim assist won’t accidentally lock on to someone when adsed
i think its just like black ops 2 where there is minimal/no aim assist when near or in smokes. its so players cant just sweep the smoke for the "sticky" feeling on players

I think overall this update was a good direction for the game and it fixed some of the more prominent issues I had with the game. Great video Ace👍
I think having multiple different types is good, but precision and focusing seems really strong on snipers. Definitely gonna try precision/focusing cause it sounds a bit more of what I might want. Legacy seems like a better version of standard so I might switch to that if precision/focusing don’t work out.
I play both on KBAM and Controller and I can confirm Focusing & Precision are the most suitable options for sniper rifles indeed. But I feel like what Focusing does more than Precision is all about that "also kicks in while slightly missing target". As far as my experience goes, whenever I'm using Focusing my aim will sometimes go directly onto my target even tho I knew I'm gonna miss. In other words, for example, if there's an enemy in your aim-assist bubble and slightly to the left of your crosshair. and you tilt your right stick left and upwards which clearly gonna result in a miss. The aim-assist still drags you smoothly to the left with little upward movement. Whereas Precision just gives you a stronger slow-down with little to no effect as previously mentioned. I guess that's what they mean by "slightly missing target". I can't confirm tho since it doesn't kick in all the time. Considering not being able to center your target properly is a common sight among less-skilled players. This particular aim-assist type indeed helps players who are new to contoller FPS. Sniper rifles in Modern Warfare generally have either a low fire-rate or a pathetic One-hit-kill region. However, when pairing Precision/Focusing with an iron sight MK2 Carbine for instance. It does prove to be a little too good
well, the good view is to help new players on fps shooter to kill more often, the bad view is everyone now using aimassist, the ugly view is cheaters and pro players are exploiting this noob feature to always kill first in any range.

yeah it's so boring playing a game where everyone uses pretty similar guns and perks and are all sound whoring, jump/drop shotting etc just makes the game so unenjoyable not to mention how poorly this game is made in general with map design, gun balancing and hit registration

Problem with precision and focusing is that if you try to track an enemy sprinting from left to right vice versa, you can’t catch up with your reticle. Because your aim assists slows you down to the point you can’t catch up. It’s only good on non moving, or moving towards you or backwards. Not horizontally.

I read aim assist mainly used in modern warfare and I chose that one right away and it felt fluent for me so I'm not ever changing that.

Snipers are already OP, they didn't need extra help with such a strong aim assist.
I think there should just be Legacy aim assist and that's all. Just one type for all people and the only option is either to have it on or off!

big scope glint, slowest ads, 1 shot kill? maybe with the lw3, but not with every shot and no flinch? The flinch is rly strong. Never got killed so little by snipers like in CW, because there are thrash. That little aim assist help is fine for me. Maybe a little bit faster ads time and its balanced to the other weapons.

When you are using precision aim assist and you are stationary while shooting a target, if the target is 10 meters away from you and the target has moved 1-2 meters even if you are not holding your right stick the aim assist will follow the target for about 0.5 seconds. This will only apply if your finger is already on the trigger, if you lift your finger the aim assist will not follow. You can try this using fast rate automatics to see how the aim assist works.
with Focusing, the difference is very subtle, the only difference in comparison to precision is when a target is moving, with precision it doesn't drag your gun much while with focusing it felt like it helped me drag my gun more with a moving target. the bubble on the outer edges of the character model I would say is a tad bigger but only when the enemy is moving not stationary while using focusing.

I always have a predicament with standard aim assist where I’ll get stuck in between two “bubbles” and be shooting directly between two player models. After seeing this, I think I’ll try out precision or focusing. Plus, I actually really enjoy sniping in the game, and those aim assist options will definitely help.

I want them to add the sensitivity setting from MW. For example I hate how in Cold War it goes from .70 to .80, I want to play somewhere in between.
If you hook up a keyboard you can set it to whatever you want. I've set it to .85

Precision and focusing is best explained like this: precision for quickscopers, because if your at that level your sensitivity should be pretty high, and focusing is more for dmrs and burst fire weapons. Legacy is literally just classic call of duty, and the new standard is literally for children who are incapable of going positive in a match.
The mac-10, streetsweeper (stryker shotgun), and groza are gonna be in season 1. There are weapon mastery calling cards for each of them in the barracks.

If you look really closely, you'll see two separate thresholds of slowdown in the focusing bubble. One just before the character model, and then a slightly stronger slowdown when you're on the character model.

I’m one of the few players that play on console that turn aim assist off. Aim assist hinder my skills it’ll lock on for a slight sec an get me killed or I’ll be fighting against it when I’m trying to aim at someone who’s jumping, drop shotting or strafing. I’m able to move more fluently with it off

I prefer how it was before, mainly because I enjoy using snipers, but I mainly go smg; now if I want to switch between the two (midgame sometimes) I have to dig into my controller settings to feel like I'm playing most effectively.

@@H-L.. i was thinking about trying precision to for ARs SMGs etc...it looks like you can just snap on your target and the aim assist when youre on target looks so strong so i dont think you will over aim or what to call it.
Standard fucks you over when you engage one target then a 2nd comes in the same target circle or if you engage two targets then they split left and right
Have been struggling getting my aiming down on here compared to MW so decided to try having aim assist on - went with the focused just so I'm not having to fight a huge bubble. Ran a session with Veteran bots and while it is absolutely god-tier at long range, anything inside of a building and I'm fighting it to get on target. It will stay glued to just outside of the character or to their shoulder no matter how hard I'm pushing. And at an in-between range that assist drop-off is terrible.
Stats-wise I was better - because I was getting more long-range kills - but considering I run the perimeter of the map and run behind or right into people I need the close up not to suffer because my long game is weak. So likely turning it back off indefinitely
Lmk if your gameplay got better or worse with it off. I'm considering doing the same thing.

When AA breaks it breaks hard, so it just makes things 1000 times worse.
Haven't messed around with CW enough to give an opinion, but if it's the same as BO4 like Treyarch claim then it's probably the same result too.
Mind you I'm not sure if they had as many options in BO4.
@@Mediacontrol51 Only managed to play with it on today but it definitely felt different as compared to yesterday. And I mean different as in better.
Though there were differences in the sense I was initially playing split-screen and then - once that broke like it always does on the second match (my biggest gripe with this game when MW even with the 4k textures and split-screen doesn't break like this does) - I played on a smaller screen to accommodate. So maybe I wasn't noticing it stick as much because of the smaller screen area making it seem like I was stuck on target more. I'll test again tomorrow and drop another comment for you.

Yes!!! I was starving for precision in this COD. I really hate standard. Was driving me nuts.
But man, is the assist engagement that much stickier than when standard engages? Modern Warfare's precision setting was perfection.
My theory is that precision is beneficial for sniping and tactical rifles and focusing is beneficial for tactical rifles, and automatics.
This is purely speculation.

That happens a lot, especially on reaction. The enemy is in front of me, and I aim and fire but then I'm the slightest bit off, but then I over correct and still miss and then I'm dead.
I was using focusing for smgs but I think precision is a little more “snappy”
To be honest as a sniper I hate the extra large aim assist bubble that they use for the standard setting. Most the time it interferes with my shot so i am super happy the precision setting is back. I will say though the aim assist itself on precision does feel a little too strong, could be toned down a little.
I feel like the only people that disliked this video are trolls, people who didn’t mean to and didn’t notice they hit the dislike, and people who are going to abuse the aim assist on snipers and hate that he said it’s over powered on the snipers. Because other than that statement I feel like there was literally no reason to dislike the video. And even still that’s not a reason what so ever to dislike this mans content. He always goes into great detail on how everything works.

If focusing helps when you're narrowly *missing* a target, then that might be the one I use. Often times when I need to think fast, I end up shooting slightly to the left of my target, or slightly to the right, and then I just miss *all* my shots.
That’s just bcos the aim assist slow down is so strong in this game at least what it feels like to me. Same with mw. Focusing will probably make it worse.
I actually prefer precision aim assist with all weapons, it just feels better.

I don't know what the difference between focusing and precision but quick scoping with focusing feels extremely strong
I find focusing best even with reg guns. That's mainly because of how much I've practiced centering while sniping, aim assist rotation really fucks with centering I find, so having that removed whilst still having some amount of stickyness is a nice balance.
Also the standard bubble assist has always hurt me more than it helped, and up until MW I never used AA because of how detrimental to my aim it was. I almost didn't get CW because these settings weren't implemented, and I'm so glad they finally did add them in
