Talking about influencers modifying the price, walked into a retro video game shop & realized everything Jaiden Animations talked about had price jumped a decent amount.
Fun Fact about Fire Emblem Fates Release. It would still cost $80 to play all three paths. $40 for one of the Game Cases at release or in the 3DS store, plus another $20 for the other path via the in-game store that links up with the 3DS store, and finally another $20 for Revelation. The same amount for the special edition at launch.
I wish I could tell Chad that barely ANYONE got that Fire Emblem Fates box cause it got snatched up by scalpers immediately after it was announced.
Digimon Dusk and Dawn were duel releases. Also, I used buy both pokemon games not for the exclusive pokemon, but in order to have all three starters. For some reason, I just gotta have all three starters before starting a new game.

I have gotten that Unity bug that Nate described in Fallout 3 and New Vegas got a bucket of laughs out of it every time
Call of duty had some of my favorite exclusive pre-orders.
The best in my opinion was the Black ops 3 Juggernog Edition: which came with not only some posters/booklets and soundtrack, but also a custom made Mini-fridge replica of the Juggernog machine from the zombies game-mode with a handful of perk themed coasters.
At least they learned their lesson for 3 Houses, although it's only the second half of each route that's a unique story in that case. But it's still better than making you choose which house you want to purchase before you can even play the game.
Well the story in part 1 is slightly different between routes, but the different characters makes it feel different each time.
Sonic 3 & Knuckles can't really be considered a dual release because both games came out months apart from each other.
They also combine to make one whole game instead of being two slightly different games
I have griped about the Sun and Moon remake names for so long. It's so good to hear someone share the sentiment about calling it Eclipse. I think seeing the legendaries with their black armor just makes it so painfully obvious.
Also funny thing, my wife got herself and me Pokemon Sun and Moon upon release. And shortly after, I got us Digimon Dawn and Dusk (a dual release from the days of the og DS).

If you downloaded the ROM onto a crappy pc is just powerful enough that can easily play games like these and you got a virus messing up the pc it would cost you less to repair or replace that pc at retail multiple times over than it would to buy the stupid fire emblem game package!
I went to a CEX which is a game exchange and 2nd hand purchase store... and well they ridiculously put the Path of Radiance (this was at the time of the xbox one back in 2014) price of £128 which could be seen as ridiculous as a newly considered retro game, when the NGC system itself was going for £40-50 which came with multiple other games, 2 controllers & working memory cards and it was with a box... yet somehow nearly 3x the price of all that... like damn I loved playing ike, marth and roy in smash bros... but I wouldn't pay that for twilight princess or the zelda collection and I was a major Zelda fan!
i'd buy it today but considering graphical capabilities the switch doesn't impress me enough for the same £400 as competitors come back with 4k resolution and overhauled graphics and then we'll talk prices I'll stick to an em where I can enhance the graphics at my liesure... that being said can't wait till I get that 3070ti rog pc built then I can really push it without a low framerate I got goals for 4K 60fps with 4k textures and the top shaders I can find to really push the cel shading to true next gen!

though this pc theoretically will take till early 2024 minimum! I should have the graphics card bought by next summer and then I can focus on the less volatile component costs...I just wanted to make sure I got one that's if there are any 3070Ti's left by then dunno with this new price drop who knows maybe I can get one sooner!
but yeah my dream rog build will allow me to do a side gig of streaming to make money to fund my future as an engineer! and I'm going the mark reeves route I found some amazing youtube channels that teach you engineering in a practical way (and I gotta admit this is the first time I had been in the education tab of youtube while actually searching for it)
Even before the n-sane trilogy, vicarious visions have done great post naughty dog era crash bandicoot games.
Specifically the huge adventure/XS and n-tranced for the GBA, which is really good. And also crash nitro kart which was...decent.
Yet vicarious visions are also the devs for crash purple and spyro orange wtf

I'd like to point out that as of now the Fire Emblem Fates Special Edition is literally the only way to get the complete version of the game as Revelations was only released on the eshop outside of japan
Crash Twinsanity and Spyro: A Hero's Tail were actually solid games in the dark era of Crash and Spyro. I only played A Hero's Tail but I have seen Crash Twinsanity Let's Plays. Twinsanity is a broken mess, but it also has some of the funniest moments of any Crash game by far. It is iconic.
But if you thought Crash Purple and Spyro Orange were bad... they were but the worst two games for them were in the DS. Crash Boom Bang is a Mario Party ripoff without the ability to lose aside from your will to love. And Spyro Shadow Legacy was simultaneously supposed to be a real sequel to A Hero's Tail while also literally having no music at all and being a soulless beat em up RPG. At least Spyro Enter the Dragonfly was broken in hilarious ways. Shadow Legacy is incomplete in the ways that drain fun within seconds, and it's not even broken to begin with. It just has all the music not there. It's bizarre to play a DS Spyro game with no music. Hell, I have Shadow Legacy and a Legend of Spyro DS game version of The Eternal Night and the difference in quality is staggering.
With Fates being sold as it was, the special edition is likely to skyrocket in value after the eShop closure. It’s already pretty rare, going for a low of $400 with everything included, but it’ll be the only way to actually buy Revelations going forward. That portion was only sold digitally, with the special edition being the only physical version.
The game sold really well, so I’m honestly very surprised Intelligent Systems fixed their shit in the next entry. Three Houses had four endings and is a far bigger game, but was just sold for $60, with a $25 DLC 4-pack. Fates also has $50+ in DLC btw

I managed to nab a copy of Pokemon Soul Silver for only 50 or 60 bucks back in 2020. At least from what I can remember. It’s sad, I know.
The last few years have seen any kind of collectible merch skyrocket in inflation on the secondhand market. Part of that can be blamed on the fact that covid left us all stuck at home with nothing better to do but attempt to recapture our childhoods and part of it definitely rests on the creators like Logan Paul hyping that retro stuff up to the max. Being a collector shouldn't require a second mortgage...
About this whole reseller stuff it's not them bringing up the prices of stuff. Heck most of the retro stuff didn't see a huge increase in price because of covid when more people starting collecting. It was the jump of demand that brought all the prices up, resellers, even though selling it for the current market price, had nothing to with it.

The sad thing is that people don't even buy both games to get the exclusive pokemons, I have never heard anyone actually giving a shit about that. They just buy them because they somehow feel the need to have both. I have bought both for a long time, why did I do that?? Idfk, I never cared about collecting all the Pokemon.
I used to so one could be the "main save" with all my mons and pokedex progress, while the other was used for resetting whenever I wanted to do another playthrough/challenge run.
Since y'all were talking about fe fates Nintendo didn't give the game Justice neither did the US and I ain't talking about that one feature for people in the know I'm referring to the fact that they modified several supports making it not the original games translated edit fun fact due to the taking down of the 3DS eShop the only way to get Revelations will be through the Special Edition thanks Nintendo

The MegaMan collections being separated games is the most fucking greedy piece of shit move Capcom has made recently. They are very much preying on the drought fans of the series have had to make extra money and we buy into them because we know if any of those releases flopped we can kiss the franchise goodbye for another 10 - 20 years.

@@ParadoxBrony Wrong, collecting things (let's say for example stamps) is not the same thing to paying full price two times for two copies of the same game. Unless you're paying to get a stamp you already have, which would be equally moronic.

My comment was purely on the the concept of being a collector. And how that perspective was completely absent in both in this video and the original.
The collector’s mentality doesn’t push corporations to make games faster. That’s the consumer’s mentality. Collectors can buy what they want to collect at anytime they want. They don’t only collect as new things release.
It feels like your criticism is towards another group of people, but my comment was here so you decided it had something in it regarding corporate practices. But it doesn’t.

Collectors mentality most definitely does push corporate abusive practices, if not, Pokémon games (for example) wouldn't be sold in two nearly identical pairs for full price each. That's not a consumer problem, is a collector problem; a consumer would be perfectly happy with just one game with all mons in it, no second game or third "definitive" game necessary.
