Harbinger of Oblivion: Artanis and Kerrigan Seal the Void on Ulnar (Starcraft 2 | Protoss | Alarak)

- Aboard the Spear of Adun, a protoss crewman reported to Matriarch Vorazun that there was a spike of Void energies. Suddenly First Ascendant Alarak teleported aboard. The two fought, but Alarak said he was there to help them, as Hierarch Artanis was trapped by Amon. Alarak stated that Amon had betrayed his people and he wanted retribution. Vorazun did not believe him, but decided that it was their only chance to rescue Artanis. Vorazun sent forces in the direction Alarak suggested, including a group of high templar recently recovered from the shock of their severance from the Khala. They fought their way through Moebius Corps to reach Artanis and Sarah Kerrigan, who were engaged in combat. Artanis informed Vorazun that the void portal was open, and the void crystals powering it had to be destroyed. Kerrigan set up her hive clusters to bear the brunt of the Void energies.
Artanis and Kerrigan pushed each of the Tal'darim and Moebius bases, destroying void crystals along the way. Phase-smith Karax uncovered xel'naga vessels on the platform that contained solarite, which could be used to upgrade the Spear of Adun. When the last void crystal was shattered, the portal closed. Artanis swore this would be the first victory in their efforts to turn the tide of Amon's darkness.
Artanis came back to the Spear of Adun, and asked Kerrigan to join him. Kerrigan stated her broods were devastated, and it would take time to rebuild them. Artanis stated there was no time, and Kerrigan suggested gathering allies as she had. Artanis met with Alarak, who said he expected more of the Hierarch. Fenix threatened him with violence, when Alarak revealed to him that he was only a machine. Alarak stated that Amon had broken his vow with their people, and must suffer for it. Revealing that the Tal'darim's death fleet was amassing near Slayn, Alarak made an offer to Artanis that he would take the Tal'darim out of the conflict if Artanis helped him evoke the rite to become Highlord.
In the solar core, Phase-smith Karax discovered that the Keystone could save the protoss, and that it would store energy to awaken the xel'naga on Ulnar. It would be possible to use the Keystone to extract Amon from the Khala if it were modified correctly.
Artanis gathered his advisors in the War Council. He revealed that Amon had been using protoss bodies to make his host form on Aiur. Grand Preserver Rohana informed the council that Amon was using the Golden Armada to purify planets in across the Koprulu sector. Though they did not have enough power to face the Golden Armada, Artanis speculated they could destroy his other forces. Fenix suggested that they reactivate the ancient purifiers, much to the ire of Rohana. Alarak stated that they had to move to Slayn to remove the death fleet and crown him as Highlord. Karax stated that Moebius Corps is also still around in force, and making the hybrid, though they did not know where they operated from. Artanis had Vorazun send her most elite dark templar to hunt for Moebius Corps's base...

Tassadar much badass, and in lore, Adun is the best
Artanis indeed baddass. However, his achievement could be done if Tarsadar was alive. Tarsadar, indeed, sacrificed himself to kill Overmind, but his action was unavoidable. Tarsadar was the first one accepted by Dark templar. He made a lot of great decisions (not killing Terran on Char, siding with DT to protect Aiur, outplay Kerrigan... ). He was thought as reborn Adun. His action led his follower change, including Artanis. His action indeed more like savior, but in the final battle killing overmind indeed more baddast and heroic than Artanis. (I did cry when he died, so much painful. I became Protoss fanboy just because of that.) In term of Archivement, Artanis indeed carry Tassadar will, and success. Even Xel Naga use his image to inspire to Zeratul, leading them to salvation. And don't let me tell about Zeratul. Many people agreed that he is more baddass than Artanis.
Arguing about Adun. He is actually like Artanis a lot. Young and smart. Adun was treated as Savior in both faction (one of them was a lie but become real after ). He sacrificed himself to stop a massacre. He disobeyed his region to do what is right. And mostly, he was the one discover and use void power. He taught Dark templar to hide, and use that power. In rank, If Artanis is a hero to his kind, Tassadar is a savior, and Adun is legendary. Adun is the most baddass Protoss, in term of achievement. Normally, the one who makes foundation is more baddass to the one who build in it.
This is why Artanis is the most baddass Protoss alive. Welp Alarak is different kind of baddass, but his new adventure awaits him, so no conclusion for him yet. But we all know that Alarak is the one who smoked weed =))

Ya'll missing the point here. Artanis, while being a badass, built upon the success of his predecessors by carrying on Tassadar and Zeratul's legacy and vision of a unified Protoss. As with Tassadar laying the foundations for the creation of the Daelaam, when he embraced the Nerazim, following the actions of Adun by not persecuting them and viewing them as heretics despite centuries of brainwashing by the Conclave.
This was all planned from the beginning. From the creation of the Khala to the defeat of Amon and Kerrigan's Ascension. It was all prophecised, and ONLY Zeratul figured the whole thing out before anyone else did.
Not to dismiss any credit where it is undoubtedly due. Because Artanis is as great as they come, just like Tassadar, Zeratul and Adun. Artanis said so himself "Protoss see the symmetry in all things". You may have your favorites but not a single one of them is the lesser or greater in comparisson to the others since they all achieve what they do by building upon what the previous individual has done.

I wish we could've used Artanis in this mission as well, it even showed him in front of the troops at the end of the cutscene and Kerrigan's still fighting too.

I get the idea that kerrigan might be at a weak point here, but surely by the time artanis is ready for the final push onto aiur kerrigan has rebuilt a sizable army right? Hell, she at very least possesses immense personal power, why not at least offer to help how she can?
She destroyed entire planets wholesale in the last game just because she wanted to kill one guy. Not exactly a good person.
Also that Amon undoubtedly either disrupts the swarm significantly or flat out controls portions of them like he did in the past.
does anyone know how Kerrigan ends up on Ulnar like that? i seem to be missing a part of the story...
After dealing with Narud in HOTS, she sensed Amon's threat and started preparing against him and also looking for answers right after killing Mengsk. Probably following Zeratul's example and xel'naga arctifacts/prophecies she ended up in ulnar

Anyone else still waiting for the warcraft and starcraft timelines to meet? I mean we all know it's the same timeline. They're fighting the power of the void, the power of the void exists in warcraft. Xel'naga have squid faces, Draenei have squid faces. Kerrigan becomes a being empowered by light, the light is an opposing force to the void in warcraft. I wouldn't be surprised if the Draenei were actually the previous race to become Xel'naga given the squid faces.
