    This is a magical move! Tag someone with shoulder or neck issues and have them work on this movement. This is a “simple-looking” movement that can help to reduce neck tension and greatly improve any shoulder issues that you may have. Work on 20 repetitions in front of a mirror and even record yourself from the back to see if you can scoop the shoulder blade like @JTM_Fit does in this video.⁣

    Share your attempts with this movement and we may share them to our story! It isn’t as easy as it looks!⁣

    Jay is a beastly MFer. That doesn’t mean he doesn’t have some things that he can improve on (we all do!). We appreciate him taking the time to let us pick him apart for some videos. This scooping motion should be applied to both pushing and pulling movements. The heavier the weight or more difficult the exercise, the harder it will be to maintain this scooped position. Start with simple movements like the one shown in this video, then apply it to lightweight rows, plank variations, etc.⁣

    There are numerous muscles involved with this rotation of the blade, and some people compare it to how a body builder flares their lats. It isn’t that drastic, though. The serratus anterior, traps, rhomboids, pec minor, and lats are all involved with this motion. The pec minor and lats assist in keeping the blade depressed as you scoop. Remember that whenever we make any movement in the body, every muscle in the body is involved. There isn’t any point in a movement where a muscle actually “turns off.” With that being said, every muscle in the upper body is involved in properly making the blade “scoop.” ⁣

      Repetition is key, keep doing it till your body adjusts it to permanence. I don't have any study or experience so take that with a grain of salt.

      @@Add_Account485​​⁠it really has to do with being aware on how you sit and how u work. Make sure if you can lay down just lay down and if u cant then sit in a straight way. I was like that 3 months ago but all it took me was posture awareness. My trap, thank god, is now even. Before it looked like i had 1 trap only😂😂

      when done right you will also do a mini crunch with your spine.

      It doesn't correct it. Correcting it means strengthning the muscles that keep the blade in it's correct position without having to do all these temporary fancy tricks.

      @@TheArtistRae start with identifying if
      (1) it's really one trap bigger than the other or;
      (2) a one sided weakness that is leading to another muscle having to compensate for the weakness.
      If it's the first, you'd have to do some extra work on the smaller trap during your workouts to correct such an imbalance (eg; doing an extra set for the smaller trap, or simply starting with the smaller trap when doing a set - hence using unilateral exercises, and then doing the same number of reps for the bigger traps).
      If it's the second, you'd have to identify what weak muscle is causing the seemingly bigger trap to compensate and roll forward (in this video context). It could be the lats or the rear delts or rotator cuffs. Adding exercises like face pulls, external rotations and since arm rows could fix this, consult your PT on that (or someone who can directly observe and point out what the issue is).

    its beccause of cable exerices. they create opposite rotationala forces though each arm because the coil.inside the cables is alwasy weaved towards one side

    Hello. I have a shoulder imbalance but in the sense that my right shoulder is more in front than my left shoulder. This happened because of an accident in the gym where the bench press machine was imbalanced and my left shoulder got pushed way back. Do you have corrective exercises for this type of shoulder imbalance?

      Search for all of their videos on shoulders, serratus anterior, thoracic spine and neck mobility, stretches for tight traps etc.. do all of that stuff and you will improve... that's what i did

      @@sychkid Also what i noticed in my case, that sometimes high shoulder or shoulder that is more in front is because of some imbalances in the hips or pelvis... so i would also recommend that you look into that, maybe some stretches and exercises for tight hips and uneven pelvis, in my case that was also the problem

    Just because you can identify a joint and name a muscle doesnt mean you know how to properly fix a compensation, a more in-depth explanation would be beneficial for those that dont know what a imbalance or compensation is.

      You're supposed to strengthen the serrates and other muscles responsible for getting the shoulder in a better position. Takes time + reps.

      @@coltonbellamy2742 yes but you can have other injuries in the shoulder that can effect the seratious.
      And improper use can lead to mild nerve damage so you'd need to fix the shoulder issue to get the SA working again
