In 1928, public debt was reduced and consolidated, war debts paid, and the gold value of the currency was restored. Italy was living a kind of economic miracle. National income grew by 20% and industrial production doubled. A robust campaign of political propaganda had blown up the consumption of national goods. Trains arrived on time with a complete refurbishment of the railways. The ports of Genoa, Trieste and Naples were expanded, as well as many industrial areas. He established the professional register and the employment contract. The American crisis of 1929 also struck a severe blow to employment in Italy. Unemployment fluctuated at 25%. The peak of tax increases occurred in 1934. That's when Mussolini had enough. «We must absolutely go easy on the Italian taxpayer and keep him calm for some time and if it is possible, lighten the fiscal burden, because we do not want to find him crushed and deceased under the heavy burden».

Mussolini was a bloody, but great leader. He was a great politician and most importantly, he know how to make Italy STRONG. However, he wasn't a great commander and general. Unlike Hitler, he was indecisive, unenlightend, and arrogant.
Beside the points above, one of other points of why he failed the world war it's that his army was garbage. Italian army sucks at invading other countries because Italians likes freedom, home and liberty. Therefore they're quite good at defending (just like their football team).
Overall, I do think some Italians should commemorate Mussolini because even though he died, he had successfully built a strong economy for Italy that still affects our world now. Il Duce.

@lexskip The Italian military was one of the factors, before WW2 starts, Mussolini told Hitler that he needs around 3 years to prepare a world war. By the time WW2 starts, the Italian steel storage was only able to last for 15 days. And the Italian military wasn't even will-trained. Hitler was too hurry on starting a world war.

The rally that honors the historical figure of Mussolini and the Fascist era is an event that other people cannot understand, it is a very intimate event and must not be generalized or politically exploited. It is a peaceful march that has nothing political, it is a commemoration of a period of Italian history and of the one who led the country in that historical era. You can call it a nostalgic phenomenon but there is nothing political about it.
