2009, Nice (France), U2 concert in the middle of a hot summer, I am so excited to finally listen to U2 live. Bono jumps on stage to introduce the first part band : Snow Patrol. Never heard of them before and honestly did not even checked for the band who'd play the first part. Then Snow Patrol start to play... Chasing Cars - a song I heard and loved on the radio a couple of months before. No youtube, no shazam, barely decent internet back then, I could not even remember the lyrics and I had given up on figuring out who plays this song. The joy I felt when I heard this guitar... I truly felt that at this moment I was exactly where I was supposed to be and I was happy.
This reminds me and my then girlfriend of buying our first home the year this song came out. We moved in and on the second day it was beautiful weather. Instead of going shopping for furniture, we laid in garden together. BTW she's now my wife.

Unfortunately, we lost our much beloved close family friend back in 2017, 11 months after my dad passed away. This was his song, and not only that but Gary came from my home town, just a few doors down from another, close friend, who lost her hubby just recently. Believe me, my life is littered with losing family, friends and so on, in the last 5yrs., including my unconditional-loving staffy. BUT, I'm still here and in my deepest, darkest days, I feel them, wanting me to be stronger than ever before. Another song I tear up with, is from the Royal Scots Dragoon.....Amazing Grace, and my dad's song was Abide with Me.
This song as a whole is powerful, but that opening line gets me every time. "We do it all. Everything. On our own." And to the people who are lonely out there, don't give up. Someone will come along, and you WILL fall in love. Just make sure your heart and mind is in the right place, because that's what it takes. Oh, and don't chase it down, true love comes to you in the most inopportune of times.
But that's why the song is called chasing cars... You have to chase your dreams and aspirations... and seek to find love. Read the story of Abraham in the Bible and how he commissioned his servant to look for a wife for his son Isaac.
this, to me, is one of the greatest feelings in the world. An entire world of people who know a song you have created, its words, its tunes and will sing it with you. I wish I could be a fraction of this someday. It has been over 10 years I am trying.
My two daughters and I drove non-stop from Ohio to Austin Texas to see the Lord of the Rings trilogy at the Alamo Drafthouse nearly a decade ago. My oldest and I took turns sleeping while the other drove listening to this entire CD all the way through and listening to it coming back as well. And to this day I never get tired of this song.

This takes me back to watching my mum in a coma slowly slipping away week after week....that feeling of if I just stayed there lying next to her, somehow she'd get better and come back from the brink of death. She didn't and I've mourned her every second of every day since she passed. Mum, all that I am, all that I ever was, is here in your perfect eyes- they're all I can see - each night in my dreams, each time I look in the mirror and see your eyes in my own. I miss you so much xxxx
Debby, I completely understand what you said. Same situation with my mom. A heartbreaking loss! Eventually time will heal, even though it might not seem possible now. Hang in there. It will get better, it just takes time. Love and hugs to you!
Similarly, my dad slipped into a coma on 16th August 2018, a few days before he passed over, and this song entered my life at that time. Dad was in Australia, I was in Scotland. This song and Gary's voice connected us across time and space at the end of dad's life.
This song means so much these days - "Would you lay with me and forget the world? Forget what we're told before we get too old. Show me a garden that bursting into life." I am in tears once again. Love you guys!!
My heart lights up with the joy that flows from him as he smiles and sings on this video. His smile is pure joy from his heart. What a gift to all who hear, see and feel this experience. I was sad and after I watched and listened (to one of my favorite songs, band and voice) my sadness turned to a smile and a full heart. Shifted in a moment. I will always love this song, as if it's the first time hearing it well over a decade ago. It always feels new. There is something about it that is so full of hope and I can listen to it over and over forever. Beautiful voice and so full of heart. Thank you Gary and Snow Patrol.
Heard this song today after 10 years and I'm still just as in love with it ! What a great song ! "... But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive" - John Keating (DeadPets Society) - this is one of those songs !

Wow, fair play. It looks like the song means just as much now as it did then. The guy was drifting away, snapping back into it and then looking on the verge of tears followed by smiles. Maybe a full journey.
Had the privilege of meeting Gary after the show in Atlanta back in April. He walked right out the back of the Tabernacle all by himself like it was nothing and met with the fans waiting. Got to have a quick conversation with him. So nice & down to earth. Very special moment for me. Thx Gary!!!

We'll do it all
Everything
On our own
We don't need
Anything
Or anyone
If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?
I don't quite know
How to say
How I feel
Those three words
Are said too much
They're not enough
If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?
Forget what we're told
Before we get too old
Show me a garden that's bursting into life
Let's waste time
Chasing cars
Around our heads
I need your grace
To remind me
To find my own
If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?
Forget what we're told
Before we get too old
Show me a garden that's bursting into life
All that I am
All that I ever was
Is here in your perfect eyes, they're all I can see
I don't know where
Confused about how as well
Just know that these things will never change for us at all
If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

Similarly, my dad slipped into a coma on 16th August 2018, a few days before he passed over, and this song entered my life at that time. Dad was in Australia, I was in Scotland. This song and Gary's voice connected us across time and space at the end of dad's life.
@@trumpetsharps4496 Sorry to hear that, 3 day's before my birthday as well.
Absolutely love this song, happily listen to it every day. 🥰
This song is a perfect example of immortality of a masterpiece. Bravo Snow Patrol !
Ich liebe diesen Song, in welcher Formation auch immer, ich sing immer mit 😂😂😂❤❤❤
This song means so much these days - "Would you lay with me and forget the world? Forget what we're told before we get too old. Show me a garden that bursting into life." I am in tears once again.
Love you guys!!
I love you my Annie .... And God I miss you so much ... One day baby, one day we will be together again .... And we can lay together chasing cars ....
Agree!!

Heard this song today after 10 years and I'm still just as in love with it ! What a great song ! "... But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive" - John Keating (DeadPets Society) - this is one of those songs !
This video could make the whole world come to a standstill and bring everyone together, this is powerful
The soundtrack of my quarantine 2020. Love everything about this performance! ♡

It's a generational song, along with 'Run', for me. Same with Killers - Mr Brightside
Who sings "run for me"?
@@ElCampisaurus Yeah, my bad. 'Run' also by Snow Patrol. Was late when I posted, proper grammar eluded me. =} Edited accordingly.
Snow Patrol sings to everyone. I am a great grandmother, and love them.
Mr Brightside not even in the same class let alone school. The killers are dirge.
snow patrol play in a major league, not killer, at all, the try, they need ten millions lifes more to be close to the essence of SNOW

@Van Helsing Its twu its twu Americans have no idea what irony is, a ironic comment sounds ernest and wholesome to a irony free society, good luck if you spend any time in the UK Drack Chaser your head will be spinning untill you get the language.

The joy he shows performing this song makes it even better than we already know it is. Thank you so much for this amazing simple gift.
One of the most beautiful voices of all time. An incredible song that means so much to so many people
Kylo Ren sure can sing
Wow, fair play. It looks like the song means just as much now as it did then. The guy was drifting away, snapping back into it and then looking on the verge of tears followed by smiles. Maybe a full journey.
Love you mat XXX
Such a beautiful glimpse into his emotions 💖
Had the privilege of meeting Gary after the show in Atlanta back in April. He walked right out the back of the Tabernacle all by himself like it was nothing and met with the fans waiting. Got to have a quick conversation with him. So nice & down to earth. Very special moment for me. Thx Gary!!!
To Alan... My particularly rapacious tortoise who loved chasing VW beetles..... RIP Alan you god amongst shelled things, master of hide and seek in a rockery and lord of all easy to care for pets... I salute you. Crazy Diamond
One of the most stunning songs I have ever heard. Ever. Completely moving, poignant, and tender like only a magic bird could sing....free and beautiful.
I love watching him come alive when he sings, his smile is beautiful, I love his interaction with his fans.
Says sing along if you want....like anyone could stay quiet to these epic tunes. Love it
Damn these lyrics!
Miss you mum, RIP ❤
