- Greetings All. In this video I invent a new traditional handcraft: Zombroidery! (it's just regular redwork embroidery but with zombies). I'm obsessed with the zombie apocalypse and through this quilt and video I tell the true story of how I survived the zombie apocalypse that broke out in 2016.
For the designs on this quilt I used zombie coloring pages that I found on etsy by dennart designs, found here: www.etsy.com/l...
I love the idea that 150 years in the future someone will come across this Zombroidery quilt and just scratch their head. Guaranteed there is no other like on the planet. 😍
Can I just say it was very brave and selfless to risk being a zombie snack to make it your mission to free the zoo animals, I'm sure there are carved mustache monuments littered among the wastelands noting the brave deeds of a man named Dave.......your stitched story now lives on for the future generations of apocalypse survivors
🧟♂️👽✌
Pterodactyls, definitely Instapot only. 🤤
Your content is hands down the best, most interesting, creative and entertaining stuff about quilting out there. I LOVE this one!!!
PS I am very glad you survived the apocalypse and lived to make this freaking adorable work of art.
😂 You’re fun Dave. 😂
That’s a lot of work embroidering this quilt. It is adorable. Opps, can a zombie quilt be adorable? You are right about me not caring about which zombie show is better, but I do admire your quirky imagination and your immense talent! 🧟♀️🧟♂️
zombies - that explains everything! thanks for sharing.
More entertaining each week! Tuesday is now my favorite day of the week. As always, extremely creative!
I love that your creativity expands to storytelling.
Another superb construction with a terrific narrative! Thanks, Dave, so much.
Love your Zombie Quilt. What a great modern take on a traditional quilt.
Love the zombie embroidery
Hi Dave,
I laughed all the way through your story. Should I have been scared? Don't let your channel analytics fool you. We all love a good a good zomie apocalypse. Your quilt is fabulous and very vintage. Embroidering with unstable muslin in a handheld hoop is very 70's. We all did it when we weren't playing the acoustic guitar.
Love your channel. Thanks for all the time you devote to it.
J
You are a very inspirationally unique Unicorn 🦄 ❤
Kudos for doing embroidery.
I am a new fan, and would like to say you and your quilts are like a breath of fresh air! Zombie quilt is my favorite so far, along with the orphan block quilt constructed from your mom’s stash. Thanks for taking time to make your videos for us.
Thank you and welcome to the craft room !! 🙂👨🏻
The story was excellent. Love the embroidered quilt. Thank you
Your stories are super creative! My Sister loves Zombies…I’ll tell her about the other show. She probably already watches. Thanks for another interesting tale.
This reminds me of the ‘alternative’ Sun Bonnet Sue quilt where she is killed in various ways (eaten by snakes, etc.) I love the look of the scrunched up quilt after it is washed. Great job Dave!
I love this quilt and your imagination 🤗
Hell yes, Z Nation is the best zombie show hands down, so bloody fun and funny.
Love this one, the embroidery and the finished quilt, it's just gorgeous. 🖤 I've always been too daunted to try quilting, convinced it needed a fancy sewing machine. Been watching a while, but this one finally convinced me I could have a go.
You bring me such joy. What a gift you are! Thank you so much from Virginia Beach Virginia via NY state.
I’m so happy you survived so I can enjoy your quilting adventures. 👏
Loved the story!!! Beautiful embroidery!
I really enjoy your videos, I laugh every time I watch them. You are so creative in every way-your quilt designs, videos and all the entertaining dialogue.
Thank you for sharing your wonderful passion and creativity!!
This is so cool!!!! What an entertaining video also. You create amazing things.
Love the story and the quilt!
Way to mark time!
Such a TREAT to watch you at the end of a long day and Zombroidery is my new favorite word. I love seeing a traditional craft get an irreverent send-up like this; it reminds me of Subversive Crossstitch. I’m going to Google ‘Zombroidery’ until it becomes part of the English lexicon. ;)
Ha, ha, great sense of humor. I enjoyed that.
Love your story telling
Loved the story with the quilt very inventive. I’m using pink instead on my quilt
I JUST BOUGHT SOME RED WALKING DEAD MATERIAL AND IM DEFINATELY GOING TO DO SOME ZOMBIE RED WORK !!!!!! Thank you for another great idea!
What a tale of woe! Super-glad you survived; I didn’t. 😕 Love the idea for your red work and I love your orange rug (my favourite colour).
Love-love-love ur quilts-ammazing work
You are so much fun! Loved the zombie story. You tell it so matter of fact lol I love it 🧟♂️ 🧟♀️
Interesting quilt design. You have a great imagination.
I loved Z nation 🎉 and agree walking dead is super serious … love the back story of your adventures avoiding the apocalypse 😅
I’m crying 😂. That story 💀.
Just love ALL your stuff Dave !!
AMAZING 🧟♀️
I loved this! My kids and I always talk about "What if's" if there was a Zombie apocalypse and it drives my husband crazy! You are the best!
I enjoyed Z nation you are spot on Walking Dead never lets up it is like no one with a sense of humour survived. I might borrow this technique but with vampires.
Me too! I look forward to Tuesday. Amazing quilt. Well done!
Love the quilt and story!
AMAZING SO COOL
G'day Dave, as a Horror fanatic, i love this, and the story was great . YES another Z Nation fan, i agree WD is good and all, but Z N is so much fun, its bloody fantastic
Dave just casually dropping his parallel zombie apocalypse and alien abduction timelines 4:47 - 5:54 ❤❤
Love all things zombies since the late sixties and the Night of the Living Dead black and white film. I don’t know which I liked better tho, the red work embroidery quilt or the story that came with it. Kudos!
Love it so much!
I love the fact you’re easy going with the different red shades. I’m right there with you on using what you got and let it go, I think you should art case you’re quilts. You’re leading edge on new ideas and thinking outside the box , all you’re quilts are very unique and interesting .
I have to agree, Z-Nation is the best zombie show. Way more fun than the walking dead.
If you like zombie movies Blood Quantum is a great one.
Also, I love the quilt.
yass another Z Nation fan !! I will definitely check that out Blood Quantum 😜
@Dave's Craft Room Definitely a fellow fan! 😄
Brilliant, you need to write down the whole background story and keep it with the quilt,
If I had children, I would want them to have the creativity and whimsical imagination you have. Loved your story about traveling with zombies.
You did an excellent job on this quilt Dave❣️
👍 Chris
Oh my you have an active imagination
Just use YOUR imagination to imagine this guy as a kid!😁
Amazing work! Thank you for sharing with us!
Such a fun quirky quilt. I love the quilt, redwork, hand quilting, zombies?, pride in your work, awesome!😄🤓👍🏼
Also your crunchy sounding machine may just need a cleaning and some oil.
I love your back story! Well done for surviving the zombie apocalypse. As a fellow embroiderer, I was really worried about your fabric not being preshrunk - I would have washed it before adding the other two layers. What I feared happened: crinkly all over ! But I love that, it makes the quilt seem a red embroidery antique, in line with what you were gong for. Just great!!!
I actually did prewash all the muslin 😜 I always prewash my fabric. In this case I *was* going for the crinkly look, and I achieved it by selecting a cotton batting that I knew would shrink :P
Awesome story. You should write a book.
My zombie novel is called "Z is for Zombie: A Murder Mystery Based on a True Story," and it's gonna come out on kindle hopefully during my lifetime 😅😜👨🏻
Another great imaginative quilt!! I tune in to see what your wonderful brain has created this week. Thank you! You never disappoint. 😊
You have been through so much, I am glad you were able to commemorate your survival with this quilt! Loved it!
A Zombroidery-Quilt?! I need a 45minute nap to process that... 😉.
I like it. The red and white colours, the wrinkles, the simplicity, the embroidery work, of course the surviving 😥. Thank you for sharing and greetings from Germany 🙋🏼♀️.
Complimenti! Davvero un gran lavoro. Anch'io ho fatto del redwork...ma solo una ballerina per un cuscino da regalare a una bimba. 😁👋👋
Traditional red for redwork is DMC 498, but it really doesn't matter if they are mixed, and hey, wouldn't it be Zombie-like to have bright red eyes with turkey red stitching? It's all for fun, as you said, and I love the binder idea. Brenda from Conquering Mount Scrapmore sent me to check out your channel. The stabilizer does hide stitching when you travel on the back. You can use a very cheap interfacing for that, doesn't have to be purpose-created stabilizer. =) Thanks for a cheery little video!
You are so clever and funny. ❤love your creativity on so money levels.
*many. I am loving The Last of Us show. As long as it has a good back story I’m good.
Z Nation all the way! Love the back story for your blocks.
The whole idea of zombies is lost on me, but I do admire the effort and techniques you put into this project! And thank you for sharing the history of redwork.
A very imaginative quilt. As a former teacher, I wonder how you survived cookie cutter education.
Wonderful what fun, thank you for your video
Complètement fou et tellement génial ! Bravo !
Love everything about this video and your quilt is stunning!
Thank you for sharing the embroidery and the story of your life during the zombie apocalypse. I, too, heard that pterodactyl is gamey.
Love your creativity in quilting and in story telling - thanks for sharing
Love the zombies! Great choice. And I agree about Z Nation. Keep up the fab work. Am new to quilting and stumbled on your channel. Really enjoy your design process!
DAVE! You continue to amaze me at how much you get done. This quilt is amazing, and thanks for the information on the zombie apocalypse. I was blissfully unaware, or maybe I have been caught and turned to THEiR side and I just don't know! HAhA! Great work Dave! You are fantastic! P.S. I emailed you about gifting you some fabric with pizza, hamburgers, sushi, and mustaches on different fabrics. Just seemed like the type of thing you might use but i never heard back. Would be happy to mail it to you, just need your address.
haha your zombie story is so funny
Watching your videos is fun, fun, fun! Just recently heard of you from Marie's Crafty Creations. Love your videos!
Nice ! Did she mention me in a video ? I'll have to thank her !
OMG you crack me up! 😂😂😂😂😂
Talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, showstopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, completely not ever been done before, unafraid to reference or not reference, put it in a blender, s*** on it, vomit on it, eat it, give birth to it.
You are sew creative! Love the back story. I'm a Shaun of the Dead fan. A little zombie 🧟♂️ goes a long way .... too messy! Your quilt looks fantastic!
Dave I just found you and you are a freaking GEM! I love the quilt (zombies are my fav), and you've inspired me to adopt this idea for a few panels for a quilt I'm working on. I can't wait to watch more of your videos.
5 ⭐️’s.
Great job as always. Have you ever use your quilt top to upholstery a chair or make a slip cover
Can’t wait to see my California quilt. Be sure and highlight Sunnyvale and Sherman Oaks. Thanks.
So glad you survived. Love you quilts. You need to watch Victoria Findlay Wolfe- I think you are kindred spirits.
My full name is actually David Wolfe 😂
I went to her website and it turns out her husband's last name is Findlay, meaning Wolfe might be her maiden name ? I'm not sure but maybe we are related ! 😜😂
Teradactyl meat is gamey....😂
I don’t understand how you would keep the images stable on your IPad?
I think I was just very careful 😜😅
What stitch do you use?
backstitch
Not the pterodactyl meat lol
I didn't eat it 😜👨🏻
