In honesty I really like this I have core class iron hide and this definitely reminds me of him
Personally, the white background did not bother me on the white figures at all.

I don’t hate it.
Using a black background was a smart move, Ratchet would have look very odd if he had blended in with the white background.
I agree! I did test it and his details were just so washed out
If I remember correctly, the reason he doesn’t have crosses on his shoulders is because it goes against the Geneva Convention to put red crosses on things that aren’t affiliated with actual medical equipment. This is also why some old video games that contained red crosses are sometimes re-released with different symbols replacing them. I like the dark background by the way.
My understanding is that the Red Cross hold the actual trade mark on the symbol and they don't allow it to be used in order to preserve the serious nature of it.

Though It's sad they went to clear plastic again I do think the tint of blue they chosen makes him pop

Clear plastic is perfectly fine if it isn't used on hinges or it's not say horrible missmatched (like Sunstreaker) it's putting it in places it is going to break that is why it is a problem it wasn't a huge problem for decades until Hasbro started using it wrong.
For example Siege Optimus Prime used the clear inserts in the chest so there is no issue with pain chipping or breakage at the hinges that is the right way to use it.

The engineering that goes into these figures makes them real mini masterpiece.
There's a rule that stops people from legally using the red cross, can't remember what it's called, but it has to do with its use as a medic emblem in a war zone
It's a Geneva Convention thing, actually.
It's the Geneva Convention ! Basically you can't use the Red Cross imagery in anything related to war. It was also infringed in Transformers 5, because Hound wore a red cross on his helmet while blasting off dozens of enemies, so his cross had to be changed to a blue cross instead of a red one.

I kinda wish they just left the shoulders plain white, that would at least give people an option to either paint the red cross themselves or use decals.

I have pre ordered him and I am really looking forward to seeing him. I do think it is a shame they didn't include the red stripe down the side as I was with Ironhide and his lack of yellow. Especially when they brought out the battle damage Ironhide who did get it. But that being said it is still a great looking figure and so is Ratchet.

Will be definitely getting the Toyhax kit and gap-filler upgrades like I did for Ironhide, and will cut through the hip plate to make L&R individual pieces. The 84 ark crew in my cabinet are nearly complete!

Got this guy today and I got to say, I might actually like this better than the Ironhide. Happy to see them give us a Ratchet so quickly and not have to wait years, so awesome!

I've got only 2 complaints, which are the fact that they didn't fix the crotch plate & separate it & the lack of red stripe, but besides that he looks GREAT! I NEED him!!! He would look great with my other Autobots!!

I actually do like the clear blue plastic. Many of the original G1 designs had clear plastic for the windows. I like that they brought it back.

I was honestly expecting optimus prime toy bert one of the first few 1986 figures to be made, but they haven't made him yet!

SS86 is really kicking the can of the old Masterpiece figures. The only thing these figures really lack is a high quality build material and accessories + hand articulation. The posing and general look of SS86 tends to be really faithful to the animated counterparts. Loving this line a ton.

edit : sweet mother of Primus, the yellowing on Earthrise Soundwave.. i sympathize to the collectors who own that figure. also, "Instruments of Destruction" is playing in my head...
Looks really good. My nitpik is the ugly huge visible hinges on the side of the doors in alt mode

I’m definitely gonna grab Ratchet for sure and this gives me hope for more G1 characters to be released as part of the studio series ‘86 line, I would love to have Bumblebee, Optimus Prime, Megatron, Soundwave and more to name including the ones from the deleted scenes
They really need to give us a new G1 Megatron & Bumblebee! It would be great!

God I never realised how bad the yellowing on that soundwave was until those shots at the start against a black background

I like the transparent plastic, it looks more realistic. I do think they should have used inlays here instead of making the entire panels of clear plastic. My only complaint with this mold are those hinges on the side that look a bit unsightly.
PvP: the head is on a ball joint, so it can look up- *proceeds to move the head downwards*

The Iron-hide version as a problem with the chest bumper it can break easly if you are not careful.😢
I will forever be a clear plastic loyalist. It just adds a premium feel to the figures. But this was from a rime when they didnt use it for joints. Idk it just makes the cars feel more like scale model quality. I know you can see ribot joints inside but that can be fixed with darker tinted plastic.

Superior to teh WFC versions in every way except being sold as a Voyager despite being maybe a sixteenth of an inch bigger than those Deluxes, yes. The colors seem to match better (as in there's onoly two shades instead of six) than the Ironhide version of the mold, too, which is certainly welcome, but we'll have to see if the white plastic is subject to yellowing as so many recent toys have been.
