    Also badminton is addicting, I started playing occasionally with my girl at a park, pretty soon it developed into serious activity, I started feeling like I must do it daily (eveningly). I started spending more time watching tutorial videos. Now my girlfriend is hooked too and I even offer a racket for random people, who happened to be there and get interested in it.

    They would implement high grade synthetic shuttles in international arena pretty soon ,,due to the durability and the environmental impact that it has , you are going through maybe 20 something during a 3 set match and considering
    This the impact is really significant

      Yes been hearing about better quality synthetic shuttles that hopefully can be used in international competitions. 😁🏸

      But then they will do the Green Movement BS on the thing, and governing bodies will put a TAX 💰 on the companies. Those taxes will trickle down to consumers in future. Shuttles will be expensive again.
      Is better not to, unless they are able to engineer a shuttle that lasts 1 year, which probably won't happen.
      Goose feather is biodegradable.

  • @ronlyon4645
    @ronlyon4645 Před 2 lety +6

    If you're playing with good advanced players, use feather. if you're playing with beginner who miss-hit a lot OR people who are cheap ass (never contribute their shuttle) just use plastic.

    @hockeyh Před 2 lety +5

    everybody says synthetic shuttle is faster than feather shuttle but i find it opposite, i cant hit synthetic shuttle backhand from back court to back court whereas with feather shuttle i dont have that problem, im not a PRO player, whats your opinion coach madam?

  • @Akacchin
    @Akacchin Před rokem +1

    Here we use nylon if the weather is windy and the feather if it's neutral, we don't have a court here we just play outside

  • @1Flyingfist
    @1Flyingfist Před 3 lety +9

    Hi, it's the opposite here. More people are used to using the cheaper plastic shuttlecocks.
    Here, social level players have more difficulty keeping the feather shuttlecocks on the court, because the are used to hitting plastic ones as hard as they can.
    I've never been able to explain why. Different people say different things. This is the experience that I've had though, even when testing it with different strings and tensions in identical rackets.🤔

      Nothing wrong with that. Personal preference and i respect that… we all have that same purpose and goal anyway which is to enjoy badminton 😁🏸

    I think if your going to use plastic shuttles you may need to use a lower string tension as it seems to put more pressure onto the shoulders
    Be good to see you do a test on the victor carbonic shuttle which is a hybrid type shuttle

      @1Flyingfist Před 3 lety +1

      Do you prefer to use cheap feathers, to keep the cost down, rather than switch to plastics?
      I've tried cheap feather shuttlecocks and with all due respect, they were a disgrace. 😭 So I have to save up for the £19 for 12 Yonex.
      Plastics allow beginners to play with more experienced players. But then they get a false sense of security. That happened to me. 😳🙈

    • @KeithHiew
      @KeithHiew Před 3 lety

      @@CoachKennieAsuncion I used to play with plastic when I was in primary school, from seven to maybe 10. We had no money as kids of course, and courts were not easily accessible then, so we played at the compound and roadside with the gate as the "net", and we made do with plastic. Beginners, you know. Then from 12 or 13 onwards, we got to play on proper courts, switched to feathers and never looked back.

  • @TheHi-T
    @TheHi-T Před 2 lety +1

    I know some players who have sustained tennis elbow or shoulder pain while playing with plastic shuttles. They try to hit it as hard as they can. Now they have to spend $ on visiting a physiotherapist. The $ they thought they where saving now goes towards medical treatment.

    • @CoachKennieAsuncion
      @CoachKennieAsuncion  Před 2 lety

      Another contributing factor to the injury may be tension of string, the way the player hits their shot and overuse😁🏸

    Are smashes faster with plastic shuttles? I find it comparative difficult to pick up smashes when defending against plastic shuttles as compared to feather shuttles.

    • @CoachKennieAsuncion
      @CoachKennieAsuncion  Před 2 lety +6

      Plastic shuttles are faster but its not as easy to maneuver as well so most shots with it have a basic return😁🏸

    • @CoachKennieAsuncion
      @CoachKennieAsuncion  Před 2 lety

      I don’t think it would be from shuttlecocks. Could be from the racket or simple overuse😁🏸

  • @rend_zvous6076
    @rend_zvous6076 Před 2 lety +2

    Is it just me thinking that nylon shuttlecocks are a bit heavier, making it harder to receive when an opponent smashes?

    • @CoachKennieAsuncion
      @CoachKennieAsuncion  Před 2 lety +1

      It is slightly heavier. Yes it can be difficult to return smashes but what i don’t like about it is that its harder to manouver so fake or pending shots are harder to execute😁🏸

    The biggest downside of feather shuttles - they are made from real bird-feather, thus they are not ethical (aka not vegan). Making good synthetic shuttles is the way to go. I am waiting for this to happen.
