    Scandalous scoring again, but not a surprise from a Top Rank promotion. That fight was much closer than the judges scored it. I'm not saying Mayer shouldn't have won, but it takes away the credit Hamadouche deserves for a relentless & great performance. This type of scoring makes me really hate a sport I really love...

    The French girl needed to check her purse after that stinker, came to the US + the cards looked like they'd been filled in beforehand. Reminded me of watching a bunch of WBO "world" title fights involving Chris Eubank in the UK. The cards were an embarrassment + a disservice to both fighters + the viewers. The fight itself was outstanding. Mayer took half the fight to even partially deal with Hamadouche's pressure. The Frenchwoman came close to rolling over Mayer, who showed her mettle by not buckling. Despite Hamadouche's amazing workrate + fitness, Mayer definitely lasted the pace better + landed the cleaner shots over the 2nd half of the fight. I didn't score the fight properly, but felt a draw would have been a fair result. It could've gone either way. Not a chance there was more than 2 rounds in this. The judges should be arrested for crimes against boxing.

    In terms of excitement, skill, toughness, and sheer mind blowing fitness, this was truly one of the best fights I have seen in 29 years of being a boxing fan. Hamadouche is one of the toughest boxers around, her absolute brawl in defeat to Delfine Persoon is testament to this, with Mikaela being so tough that Hamadouche could barely budge her, but Mayer was also the better mover, better technician and crisper puncher of the two. Mayer against Persoon would be an unbelievably good and action packed fight and just about too close to call, with Mayer's unrivalled boxing IQ, iron chin and adaptability winning her an incredibly tough points decision after going to hell and back with Persoon, or Delfine using her superior toughness to out brawl and out strength Mikaela, and drag her into the trenches. Personally, I feel that both women are too tough to be stopped, and Delfine would need to force herself onto Mayer, and after watching both ladies fights with Hamadouche, I feel that Persoon has the better engine and looked the stronger woman of the two, with Delfine looking to be the bully against Maiva, whereas Mayer did not possess the strength to do that.

    Great fight. I have 1-3-5-6-7-8 for Mayer and 2-4-9-10 for Hamadouche. 3 and 9 a bit closer, I think the cleanest shot were from Mayer, but it was a great and close fight
    But the score cards were like WTF???

    • @billbaggins1688
      @billbaggins1688 Před 2 lety

      I think round 9 was clearly Mayer. In fact the ref came over and warned about a stoppage after that round. But agree with you and others, it was a close fight and the scoring was a travesty.

  • @BAMozzy69
    @BAMozzy69 Před 2 lety +1

    I had it at 98-92 because I scored 'each' round individually and in 8 of the rounds, Mayer outboxed Hamadouche, landing more cleaner shots but it was 'close' and in 2 rounds, I think Hamadouche landed more but could easily of gone the other way. Looking at the fight overall, it does seem 'unfair' to Hamadouche because it was a such an epic and close fight so he 'score cards' must represent that - but if they look at each round individually and decide which boxer landed the most clean shots (not most punches to gloves, arms etc) and variety too, then Mayer won the majority of rounds even though Hamdouche landed a fair few too as well means it was closer than the scorecards appear

    • @filipegaspar3572
      @filipegaspar3572 Před 2 lety

      Well I could say that mayer hit hamadouche's gloves lots of times and comentators said "wow a left hook from mayer!". I give the win to mayer, but there are rounds to hamadouche and there's 10-10 rounds...

    • @BAMozzy69
      @BAMozzy69 Před 2 lety

      @@filipegaspar3572 98-92 means that one person won 8 rounds to the other person 2.
      In the fight, I gave the first 2 rounds to Mayer - - partly because Hamadouche had to be spoken too about holding down Mayer. Round 3 I gave to Hamadouche but then round 4 onwards, I gave to Mayer as she appeared to be 'outboxing' Hamadouche - picking better shots and more variety, getting through the 'wild' swings which were still mostly hitting gloves and arms. Round 8 (Or maybe 9) I gave to Hamadouche but then Mayer took the last 2 rounds by 'outboxing' her opponent. So 98/92. The other judges gave her 2, 1 and '0' rounds.
      Boxing isn't about wildly throwing as many punches as possible and hoping that enough 'wild' swings will get through. Mayer 'outboxed' Hamadouche in 'every' round and that was reflected in the judges score cards. Hamadouche picked up a round or two more on sheer guts, determination and entertainment value...
      Its like Deontay Wilder vs Tyson Fury - Fury outboxed Wilder every-time and Deontay Wilder is like Hamadouche - a 'thug' who only has wild swings and a 'reasonable' chin to hopefully survive long enough until that wild swing connects...

    • @filipegaspar3572
      @filipegaspar3572 Před 2 lety

      @@BAMozzy69 sorry but I don't agree at all with the fury-wilder comparison neither with the cleaner shots from Mayer part. Yes I agree that Mayer had better movement and agree with the decision and yes...the last 2 rounds were unquestionable. But the fight was too close till then, because Hamadouche BLOCKED a lot of shots and also LANDED a lot of shots, that's why I think there were a couple of draw rounds (10-10). But I'm good with the final consequence nevertheless, I think the better boxer won. But things have to be said and that scoring was veeeery suspicious and if there wasn't that last 2 rounds I think the result would be very unfair.

    • @BAMozzy69
      @BAMozzy69 Před 2 lety +1

      @@filipegaspar3572 That's the way you saw it. I saw it 'differently'. I didn't see a 'drawn' round. Yes Hamadouche landed a lot of 'Clean' shots so it wasn't a 'one-sided' contest but as I explained above, I thought Mayer out-boxed her opponent, landing 'more' cleaner punches - particularly to the 'body' in the earlier rounds.
      It doesn't matter if a boxer completely dominates a round (without getting a knockdown) or its a 'very close' fight, if a judge thinks they had the 'edge' in that round, they give it to that 'boxer'. It doesn't matter if Hamadouche catches Mayer once in that round or 50 times, if Mayer catches her with 'more' point scoring punches in that round, its awarded to 'her'.
      Hamadouche was pretty much just constantly walking forward swing both hands and 'most' of them were hitting gloves, arms or missing wildly and as such, unless its 'very' clear (as some of her punches were) they connected cleanly, its not easy to score. Mayer out-boxed her opponent in 'every' round - not to say she didn't get caught a lot too - but she had much better movement, much better variety of punches and could easily of won 'every' round (as 1 judge thought) because its 'Boxing' - not UFC or some bar room brawl...
      Yes the score does look very one-sided and would seem like a 'walk-over' for Mayer - not representative of the fight overall. Like I said though, its 'scored' on a per-round 'basis' and it doesn't matter if you 'dominate' the round from start to finish or 'narrowly' edge each round, you still win the round 10-9
      It my opinion, I think Hamadouche narrowly edged round 3 & 8 but in ALL the other rounds, Mayer edged those - so its an '8-2' score. The 3 judges gave Hamadouche didn't give her more than 2 rounds either so its not a 'split' decision and varying by a round (mid point 1 and the other 2 judges also +/- 1 round) so in their opinion too, Mayer did 'enough' to win at least 8 of the 10 rounds regardless of how 'close' each round was.
      Looking at the fight overall, as I believe I said in my original post, it was a very 'close' fight that left you wondering who the victor would be. Therefore you may think the score would represent that.
      However, from round 1, there were questions whether Mayer could 'keep up' that pace, keep out-boxing Hamadouche round after round with Hamadouche relentlessly plodding forward, swinging wildly. Both fighters getting caught with some 'big' punches and each throwing a tremendous amount too - unrelenting for 10 rounds - so credit to BOTH! But Mayer kept out-boxing her opponent round after round as evident in the score-cards.
      That's not a slight on Hamadouche and its the 'best' fight I have seen in years. She was unrelenting, determined, exceptionally fit and a strong chin to keep going at that pace round after round, making it a very tough and entertaining fight. Each round was 'very' close but in 8+ of the 10 rounds, Mayer edged the round enough to take it. At the end of the day, whether she won 100/98 (8 drawn and 2 rounds won) or 100/90 (as one judge had it), the right result on balance was given.

    • @filipegaspar3572
      @filipegaspar3572 Před 2 lety +1

      @@BAMozzy69 lets agree in desagree. As you you said we saw it differently. And as you said, actually doesn't matter the score if the end result is the same. Yes hamadouche's style is wild and lacks movement compared to mayer but thats her style (blocking shots and and pressing forward).
      Actually in one of the rounds (I think 6th or 7th) Mayer tried to use the jab, stay outside and impose her style but couldn't do it so I don't see that "outboxing". But in the end it's just our different views on the fight and we're no judges (arguing may be pointless ahah).
      The last thing I can say is that the judges being from the US doesn't look fair for credibility purposes, but that's how it is.

    So tough and brutal, but with tremendous fitness and skill from both ladies, and gosh, the movement and skills of Meyer were super impressive. She has such a lovely combination of skill, strength, genuine toughness and durability, that it is very hard to envisage who can beat her right now. She has demonstrated that she is able to outbox sluggers, brawl, maul and outbox slicksters, and adapt to almost any style to find a way to win. I would pick her against both Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano. She dealt with Maiva at least as well as Delfine Persoon did, although Delfine's freakish engine, physical strength and strenuous punching would test her like nothing before. Taylor may be a bit slicker than Mikela, but Meyer is tougher, stronger and an even better a technician.
