The thrill of just getting them … no down load… you went to the store to get them … slowly over months maybe getting them all .

I built 10 of these when I was a kid in the 1960's. They suffered a lot of abuse and mishaps, and stayed in my mother's basement until she sold them in a garage sale. Videos like this make me think back and realize how many models I built during that time - so many. The Monsters, Monster Hot Rods, Weirdos, Hot Rods and Dragsters, Deal's Wheels, Apollo LEM, Star Trek Enterprise, 2001 Moon Bus. Amazing I didn't get brain damage from all that glue and paint thinner.

Most of the kits you have mentioned are now being re-released most from original molds. I encourage you to do them again. Many lost kits are being recreated by the magicians with these amazing 3-D printers. This is the best time to embrace the hobby and introduce it to young people. I still get a thrill when I complete a model and I enjoy the many positive comments I get from my videos. I see so many builders far better than me but always supportive with useful building ideas . I still have kits I hope to find and build again that I built when I was a kid.

These Aurora monster models will always be the best monster kits of all time because these models along with Famous Monsters Magazine really kicked off the whole MONSTER CRAZE that started in the early 60s and lasted through most of the 70s.

I still have some of the original aurora. monster kits that I built when they came out. I am now working on the Monster Scenes Aurora reissue snap kits by Moebius. I must admit that the box art was a great influence for me to get these. James Bama is a great artist. Also back then we just glued and painted them. No seam filling, airbrushing, or dry brushing. The first monster model kit made by Aurora was Frankenstein. in 1961.You did a great job on these.

I had those when I was a kid….parents went bonkers because they were so violent… they were like a dollar each… the reissues are so expensive… I only have one of them.

Great job on all those models. Gone are the days when you went to your local Five & Ten store with a couple of dollars to buy a model kit. Those were the best times.

I built the Luninators version of the Wolfman back in the 90's. I spent about 8 hours retexturing the fur with a hot knife

I’m not that good … I have a few glow in the dark models… but I know I can’t build them properly… will be seams and cracks everywhere… paint and green putty hides a great many problems… I still have one Frankenstein Luminator… I got it on clearance have kept it all these years…

@@bmck-8400 I didn't build it as a glow in the dark. I sprayed a nice heavy coat of flat black and then started building color by drybrushing. I kind of wish I had a pic of it because it turned out pretty good. I ended up giving it away to one of my (pen and paper) gaming friends because it wasn't really something I was into. I think I got it from a bargain bin at Wally World or Rose's for a couple of bucks. You couldn't give them away in '93 lol. I just needed something to practice different hot knife techniques before attempting to retexture some 1/35 horse manes and tails.

I might have missed something, but are these your original models from the 1960's?

No… these are re-releases many times removed from the 60s.

In the last year, I've returned to the models of my childhood. And those are those wonderful Aurora Models. I've collected them over the years and saved them for my retirement. I'm beginning with the monster rods. I've completed The Wolfman's Wagon. I wish I could show you a picture. It turned out nice. At present, I'm working on Frankenstein's Flivver. The car is done, and I'll soon be done with the Monster. Then it's on to The Mummy's Chariot. I also have the other three. Dracula's Dragster, King Kong's Thronester, caping that series off with Godzilla's Go Cart. The Creature from the Black Lagoon was left out, for some reason. I sure am enjoying these. They're looking so much better than the ones I did when I was six years old. lol. And I don't have to worry about my little brothers destroying them. You did a great job on these.

I have built four of the Monster Rods and they are all great. There is a very rare and hard to find Creature’s Crate garage kit from years ago. I have never actually seen one outside of pictures. Enjoy your builds… I still need to do the Mummy and Dracula hot rods. Thanks for your kind words.

@@bmck-8400 I wish I could show you mine. My Wolfman's Wagon came out great. And I finished Frankenstein's Flivver, which also turned out beautifully. Next, The Mummy's Chariot. I got all that Aurora made. The Creature was left out, but someone got creative, I assume. Do you have a Facebook page or X page? I'd like to see what you've done. And I'd also like to show off my work.
